Looking to Hire an SEO Expert for Travel Site
-
Hello Everyone,
I hope this is OK to post here. I run a travel website and we operate tours abroad. We are slowly expanding after nearly 10 years in the field. I started the company from scratch and currently do my own website design and SEO work. However, over the last couple of years I've lost the SEO connection due to being so darn busy. I started account here with SEO Moz in order to get the ball rolling again. We continually rank high for keywords, publish superb content by great writers, and overall are doing fine. I would just like to ensure this keeps happening and that we have an expert on board to help us in sustainable organic SEO practices.
What I'd like to do is hire an SEO expert to help with our site. It might be part time (10 or so hours per week, perhaps?) Anyhow, I would like if this person used SeoMoz and really had their fingers on the pulse of the SEO world. I want all white-hat SEO, help with page optimization, internal link structure, and help getting quality external links. I know that over optimization is something that is now on the forefront of SEO work, so of course keeping this in mind helps. I would like to be kept up to date (perhaps weekly overviews of data and how we are doing) and am willing to make changes as quickly as needed on the site. I would like to see how we rank with competitors and what we need to do to stay on top - for the long term (no short sighted decisions). I want to learn as we progress, not because I want to do the SEO work myself, I just enjoy knowing what is going on. I will not micromanage. I am too busy for that : )
I am not sure what amount SEO experts are paid, but I have a slightly flexible budget. I really want someone will communicate when needed and is thorough in their responses. Attention to detail is a must. I would prefer an SEO expert located in the US but who also knows how to access / think about markets abroad (Canada/UK/Australia). I suppose we can discuss pay once I have a shortlisted group. I am looking to hire and work with someone starting pretty much immediately (even in May). For starters, I suppose our budget might be $500 to $1500 per month. For the first month or so, we might offer payment on a stipend basis just so we can ensure whoever is hired is the perfect fit.
It would be great if this person had worked on travel sites before or has at least traveled abroad a few times. But, no worries either way.
Thanks so much!

Hey Thomas,
Just sent you an email. I have worked with small travel providers in the past and would be interested in discussing your site further. You can find more info on my site at HoodWebManagement.com.

Best SEO for New Lead Gen Site: Use Corporate Domain or Product Name?
Hello, wanted to poll the Moz community about a URL discussion my company is having. We plan to launch a new publicly-facing resource and want to leverage organic search as much as possible. For the domain, we’re considering these options: the corporate domain since it’s well established or the URL for the product, which is more descriptive of the content that will reside on the page, but doesn’t have much authority because almost all of the relevant content is behind a paywall. The product domain is appealing because we want to build brand recognition. Should we also look at a more specific domain for the topic that doesn’t leverage either branded domain? Any Moz tools you’d recommend to help research this decision? Thank you in advance for your thoughts!

SEO and page redirects from a high ranking site quandary
We are launching a site on a new domain that is taking the place of a group (subset) of pages in an existing domain. BUT The pages on the existing domain have really good SEO rankings in a very competitive category and we want to leverage the traffic it gets today in the best way, so.... Which of the following would be the best practice in this case (in regards to SEO)? Modify the existing pages' content so that there are prominent calls to action that lead the users to the new domain. Create permanent redirects for the existing pages for their counterparts on the new domain. This is more direct for the user but we don't know how it will affect the current ranking. Something other than the above. Many thanks for you help Gary

What to look for with Domain Authority?
Hi, Our site has fluctuated between 20 and 22 DA for six months, but today it jumped to 27. Is that a sign we are doing something right or is 5 points within the DA's fluctuations pretty standard? Thanks, Ruben

Crawl diagnostics up to date after Magento ecommerce site crawl?
Howdy Mozzers, I have a Magento ecommerce website and I was wondering if the data (errors/warnings) from the Crawl diagnostics are up to date. My Magento website has 2.439 errors, mainly 1.325 duplicate page content and 1.111 duplicate page title issues. I already implemented the Yoast meta data plugin that should fix these issues, however I still see there errors appearing in the crawl diagnostics, but when going to the mentioned URL in the crawl diagnostics for e.g.: http://domain.com/babyroom/productname.html?dir=desc&targetaudience=64&order=name and checking the source code and searching for 'canonical' I do see: http://domain.com/babyroom/productname.html" />. Even I checked the google serp for url: http://domain.com/babyroom/productname.html?dir=desc&targetaudience=64&order=name and I couldn't find the url indexed in Google. So it basically means the Yoast meta plugin actually worked. So what I was wondering is why I still see the error counted in the crawl diagnostics? My goal is to remove all the errors and bring it all to zero in the crawl diagnostics. And now I am still struggling with the "overly-dynamic URL" (1.025) and "too many on-page links" (9.000+) I want to measure whether I can bring the warnings down after implementing an AJAX-based layered navigation. But if it's not updating it here crawl diagnostics I have no idea how to measure the success of eliminating the warnings. Thanks for reading and hopefully you all can give me some feedback.

How do you check the outbound links of a site?
There are great tools like http://www.opensiteexplorer.org that will tell you all about the inbound links. What about the more basic and easier question: What outgoing links does this site have?

Hi there, I´m looking for a tool, which shows all 301 redirect links to a domain. Have some competitors which haven´t many links but have quite good rankings. I suppose they have some 301 redirections... Thanks!
