Opinions about good article writers and where to find them
-
I want to hire out to someone who can write some good quality articles for my site. First has anyone had experience with this and do you recommend this. Also are there any ideas where I could start in looking for this. Websites? Freelance? Let me know

Hi Cesar,
Try Textbroker - we've picked up some really good writers on there.
I recommending starting with some small projects, hire a few writers and see who is the best. Then you can assign the best ones larger projects and continue with those.
Thanks

I have used several writers on elance, Ordering just a few to begin with & getting a sample is a good idea, I would love to say that i have been 100% happy with the quality of the articles, but as yet that is not the case so always looking for someone better.

I've used elance before too and I agree with Cesar to make sure you check their writing sample. You can always try a person out with one article and see how it goes and then determine if they are the "write" fit for your company.
I would also hit up the local university for students in journalism. It's a win win for both of you. They get practice in writing and can show people their work, and you get the articles you need.
Lastly, Carl Dispoto has been asking a few questions on the forum on how to get started in article writing so I would check him out and see if he can help you too.

Hi Cesar,
You can try sites like vworker.com and elance to find good writers. I suggest reviewing their writing samples in detail to get an idea of their writing quality and style. You can also try posting ads on craigslist under the "writing/editing" section.

Directory Subdomain: Bad or Good?
We are thinking about setting up directory on a subdomain (local.sample.com) with content supplied by DirectoryM. Despite assurances by DM that they are Panda proof, I am uneasy releasing 100's of 1000's of pages at once to the search engines with content that is somewhat limited in value. Even if DM can somehow make these directory pages look a little unique then what they already have out on the internet, I am still scared how a potential spammy subdomain will impact the master domain. The upside to DM is that they can add 1000's of new weekly visitors and they will add 1000's of links to our pages to our master domain to their existing directory sites. What approach would you take here? Is there any risk in trying this out or are my fears unfounded? Would mass linking to the subdomain from the master site impact the master site?

Potential effects of PLR articles
I'm sitting on several hundred PLR articles that, with a bit of editing, would fit well into on of my sites. This site otherwise produces new unique content every week, including videos, news and articles. These PLR articles are very popular, copyscape shows at least 30 other sites are using some or all of the pieces, but the articles themselves are the sort of information pieces that don't really get old or change over time. Never having gone for the direct use of PLR articles (have spun quite a few unique pieces in my time though), I'm wondering if there could be a negative effect to using them? We're not in Google News or anything so don't have to worry about that, just wondering if it would diminish the effect of my unique pieces at all?

Finding a copywriter
Hi seomoz, This is not quite a SEO issue, but I have a feeling you may be able help. English is a second language to me and copywriting is not my favorite sport. So, I've decided to find a copywriter. But have no clue how to look for one. I have hired ton of programmers, designers, and other technical resources in the past. People that have concrete skills - programmer where I could say do X, Y & Z and I can check if X, Y & Z were done - are no problem for me to hire. It still takes a long time, but that's not an issue. I know I want the copywriter to write in certain style (style of seomoz.org, woot.com or doubleyourdating.com). How do you define writing like that? Can writing like that can be defined? And put into requirements? Do you need 'customer avatar' or 'marketing voice' document or something similar? How do I find a kick ass copywriter? Optimisticly hoping there is a better answer than just 'test bulkload of them'! Thank you,
