Author Rank for news portals
-
Hello SEOmoz community
I would like to discuss the option of implementing AuthorRank on news portals where content changes daily and the importance and the ''weight'' of that content is measuerd mostly on the breaking news factor.
Content changes multiple times through out the day and there are many authors / journalists who write for that portal, so my questions would be: can AuthorRank have impact on this kind of site?
Did any of you have any experiences with AuthorRank on a big scale sites like news portals and if you would be kind to share some insights.
Thank you in advance!
sincerely,
sinisa

Great reply!
Thank you for your feedback
I must do some further research on how to implement this feature and recieve quality overall... First and foremost - to find an author on my newsite that is active on Google+, has some 'community' impressions and is willing to test this
cheers

_I have not implemented this tag in any news site but I have implemented this in a couple of websites and the impact was impressive.
However, I have found that if the profile is great, I mean if the profile is active in social circles, have a strong Google Plus profile etc. I have found a strong correlation between the number of people have added that profile in their circles and the visibility of the post integrated with that Google Plus profile. Moreover, if you can make some guest posts on some leading sites with that profile and get a link back to Google Plus author page, chances are that the profile will add to the overall visibility of the website in the SERP. I have seen significant increase in ranking in not-so-popular key phrases after the authorship is implemented and of course you cannot rule out the fact that authorship increases CTR in the SERP. _

Blog hasn't ranked since reposting.
Hey Moz fam! I had a blog that was doing pretty well for the target keyword. Unfortunately, to make a long story short, we had an image in it we weren't supposed to so I unpublished it for a few days while we got that sorted out. Since republishing (with all the same content) it has not gotten a single impression. I inspected the URL and it is totally eligible but nothing in the way of organic traffic. Any ideas on how I can recover?

Google RSS Feed News Feed To Inner Pages
Ive been working on a large ecommerce website that has thousands of pages, although we are working on adding custom content daily to the largest pages, we have "defaul content" with dynamic tags matching search query. Someone recommend we add a google Rss feed where they can also add some type of tag. Is this a bad idea? Ive asked in the past but my main concern is issue with duplicate content, It would be next to impossible to have all pages filled with custom content. Any help much appreciated!! Thank you!

Should we implement rel=author on every past blog post
Hi guys, we're in the process of implementing rel=author markup on our blogs containing more than 3,000 posts. They are written by about 50 different people, and some of them don't blog anymore or are no longer with the company. Should we have rel=author for all blog posts, even those published in 2006? Thanks for your help!

Not accepted in Google news.
Hallo, Our website was not accepted by Google news although we are confident that our site meets all the requirements. We see several other gambling sites already appearing within Google News’ pages, and we contend that, in most cases, our reporting is both timelier and more relevant. We hope you can give us any feedback. http://www.hetpokerspel.nl/nieuws Regards, Thijs Weinands

Why does my lousy little blog Rank number 1 on Google?
Search "Google Places Changes." My Blog, www.salesjumpstart.net/blog is ranked first. Has been for a week. Why? Makes no sense. I have been getting many first page Google results for 3 and 4 word keyword searches. The site or Blog just isn't that strong. http://www.google.com/search?q=Google+places+hchanges&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a#sclient=psy&hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=uFR&rls=org.mozilla:en-US%3Aofficial&source=hp&q=Google+places+changes&pbx=1&oq=Google+places+changes&aq=f&aqi=g2g-j1g-b1&aql=&gs_sm=e&gs_upl=4293l4293l0l4628l1l1l0l0l0l0l271l271l2-1l1l0&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=661c0b1152c259b4&biw=1024&bih=583

Your Site and Google News Question
My site has been in Google News for about 3 years. Over the weekend, I received this message from Google Hi John, We periodically review news sources, to ensure Google News offers a high quality experience for our users. When we reviewed your site, mainstreetmonroe.com, we found that we can no longer include it in Google News at this time. We reviewed your site and are unable to include it in Google News at this time. We can't include sites that don't have a formal editorial-review process for submitted content. If this exists on your site, please let us know where and we'll be happy to review your site again. Mainstreetmonroe is scheduled to be removed from Google News for a period of at least 30 days. After this 30-day period has elapsed, you can re-apply for inclusion in Google News provided your site meets our guidelines. We appreciate your assistance in this matter. Please note that you'll still be able to find your site in Google Web Search and other Google services. Thanks for your interest in Google News. Regards, The Google News Team What exactly do they mean? I submitted my website news section, but they have been displaying our forum area in the news too. I think the forum is what GN is talking about. What is the best way to fix this problem? Move the forum to a subdomain? RSS News
(By Google Traductor) Hi, within our community we have developed a news service (www.agroads.com.ar/noticias/) where we had about 30 sourcesrss. News grouped into categories and generate an internal link to see the details (and also a link to see the full story in the appropriate media). It is our first experience with a news site and wanted to know:
Content Development | | romaro
1. We keep track of all news from all media? (would be creating agreat sitemap in the future:)
2. We must clarify in the sitemap that are sources of news?
3. Google may consider it duplicate content?
4. We're taking data from different source types (html, video andpodcast), we must differentiate this content to index? Any other suggestions would be welcome.
Greetings!
