Does a blog appearing in diff. categories cause duplicate content?
-
Having a particular blog appearing in different categories or under different tags on a site- does it cause duplicate content? If yes, why ?
-
_Yes it creates internal duplicate content because the same content/article is accessible via different paths and therefore, search engine might find it confusing to determine which page deserves to get visibility in the SERP. So, you need to add noindex, follow Meta tag in the category and tag pages so that these internal duplicate pages do not get indexed by search engines. _
-
As long as you have exact match content on 2 different URL's - without using precautions to block indexing, or canonical tag implemented, you will have duplicate content. Here is an example that might give you the answer you are looking for, since I can't really give you a more direct answer without looking at how the blog software you are using, is publishing the page in terms of multiple tags.
If you publish a blog-entry with 2 categories, to www.site.com/blog/post-A/ but the same page is accessible on the URL: www.site.com/blog/category/category1/post-A/ and www.site.com/blog/category/category2/post-A/ - without use of the above mentioned ways of preventing duplicate content, yes you could be suffering from duplicate content.
Most popular blogging tools has measures to prevent this in the administration back-end or as add-on modules..

Simple Blog Content Question
Which is better? To write my own blog post or, (with permission) use other high DA content on my blog. I'll probably do both, but I'm very curious as to what the search engines prefer or which is better for seo. Thanks in advance!

Will having duplicate content on four websites cause a problem?
A client of ours has four websites for different shops they run in the surrounding area. Each website has original content as well as duplicate content. This is for things like product advice which needs to be the same Will having duplicate content on these four websites cause a problem? How can it be mitigated? We can't refer the visitor to another website to get the product information as this will break the user experience, and of course shopping cart sessions will not pass on.

Page Content?
So I have review pages for websites on my site, each website has a review around 400-500 words. Recently I had my writers write 2 additional articles on each site but about something they have there. My thinking was interlinking them allowing them to rank individually etc. However now after looking around etc.. I see that content that is upwards of 1000 words or more might be more powerful and the way this is all written etc.. I could easily put it all on one page.... So my question is do I go with 3 pages or 1 page. I can see strength in both

Thumbs up or thumbs down to content rotators
Hi there - Our team is in the process of a website redesign. We're currently using a content rotator and are wondering if any folks have data to support whether this is actually a good practice despite it's popularity? Overall, I'm not impressed by the click throughs as a percentage of site traffic and most of our visitors are not repeat visitors so this may not really be necessary. Thoughts and experiences appreciated!

Do comments count as page content, as it relates to the length of content on a page?
I understand Google likes long content, and I make all my pages at least 500 words of unique and good content. But there is something I am curious about. Do they also count comments as content? The reason I'm asking is that I'm considering creating a Q&A site, where I'd control the questions, making sure they would be good ones and not duplicates, and then have people add answers. In reality, I'd be populating most the questions as first, and most definitely supplying a very good and long answer to questions. The answers would likely be in the form of comments, with highest ranked answers at top. So, I'm wondering what Google would think of a 100 word question, with a several hundred word answer in a comment, often followed by some other comments after that. Would it be a 100 word page or a 500+ word page?

Is it worth to change a blog from a subdomain to subfolder?
We have a blog in a subdomain since some years and we are thinking about moving it to a subfolder, to see if we can boost the main domain (incoming links + fresh content). Could be worth it?
