Help to raise a charity's Face book profile to raise funds
-
Hi,
I am new here and its my first question.
I am helping a charity on pro-bono basis on their SEO. They do a great job by looking after terminally ill children with no costs to parents. 60% of their funding is through various fund raising events.
They know some well known actors and sports personality who may be willing to help.
They have asked my to look at their Facebook page and help to
- raise its profile and no of likes
- increase interaction with donors & general public and most importantly
- use it to raise funds
Any ideas/ help/suggestions will be really appreciated.
Thank you,
Syed

No worries, glad I could help.

Syed, oh, I like that photo session idea. See, you are well on your way. Good luck, this sounds like a terrific project!

Hi Andrea,
Thank you very much for replying and adding the interesting competition concept to the list by Jason.
I will have to think really hard as to how to offer something unique but your idea of "chatting with celebrities" is a very good one, perhaps a photo session with the winners family!
Again thank you.
Regards,
Syed

Hi Jason, Thank you very much for your reply. I really like the idea of donate button which I did not know, so thanks for teaching my something new. Really appreciated. I will update this post in a few months time to show how we have got on. Regards, Syed

I agree with Jason and will raise one other consideration: give them a reason to care about the page beyond it being a good cause. Donating is nice, seeing some content is nice, but neither necessarily will catch someone's attention. Can you set up something where people can post to win a chance to have a chat with one of the celebrities? Is there some sort of contest or something you can promote? Think of something unique that will drive the conversations and want people to check the page and engage.
I, personally, have stopped liking most pages because I don't get much reason to actually engage, unless I have a situation I need to address (like, customer service). I want to see a unique opportunity, just because I donated to a cause doesn't mean I want to read their status updates because sharing news doesn't equal engagement.
Just something to think about to get some "hooks" for the audience.

Hey, here is what I would do:
1. Install a donate app onto your facebook fan page
a. Make sure that the charity has an account that the donations can go to (most use paypal)
2. Use your friend base and the friend base of your friends to promote your page by asking them to like it and sharing it. (Trying to make it viral)
3. Monitor the Facebook page for interactions and peoples comments so you can interact with them as the page.
4. have the Celebrities endorse your fan page by asking them to share it on their walls
5. Post content regularly so people get updated about the charity
Those are just some steps I would take in order to promote the charity.

Hi Does anyone have experience of re-branding LinkedIN or Facebook? Can you keep the company page/followers and just change your name or do you have to start again? Thank you!

Twitter Help
Apologies if this is the wrong place to ask a question on Twitter. Something has perplexed me, both these tweets contain videos and both have been RT on my account On one you have to click into the BBC tweet to play the video, the other straight away plays and credits the original source. (see pics). When the video plays in the 2nd example you always get more interaction, RT's, likes etc compared to a RT where you have to click again. How does this happen? I've managed to do it once but cannot replicate it, even with the same tweet!! I'm sure it's something totally obvious. Here's how they look (images) http://imgur.com/a/G6ods

I understand Authorship is Dead, but here's a question on the Google+ Profile
I guest write for some blogs, as well as several blogs I manage myself. What is the correct usage of the "Contributor to" field and the "Links" field? Contributor to: The overall blog itself and; Links: To individual blog posts themselves? Or the reverse? Thank you!

Please help me improve this link building strategy
Link building is challenging. Can you guys read my process below and offer improvements: This is for marketing an article that is good for target websites for humanitarian reasons. It helps their readers in a way that they really need it. Not to say that all of these target websites are going to want to reference my article. I'm looking for A. The target website to write, or let us write, a blog post around my article, of course with a link to the article and no other links to my website (unless they want to) or B. For our article to be listed in a resource section when appropriate How I'm doing this now: 1. We're starting with a well written, authoritative article with attractive images, graphs, and even a fancy javascript display area that's useful. The article is 3500 words. There's a big image link at the bottom that goes to the article in PDF version. Due to some hosting problems, the pdf version is disallowed in the robots.txt (it won't help to get links to it) There's 2 versions of the article, the one I'm marketing has all of our ecommerce menu and such removed, so that this version has minimal commercial parts in it. There's also a commercial version, which we are not pushing, and the non-commercial is rel cononicaled pointing over to the commercial. The non-commercial article has only one external backlink so far, and the commercial version has no external backlinks yet. We're just getting started. 2. First I like on facebook and follow on twitter. I spend some time with the target site's facebook page and like several recent posts, sharing one or two things to my own facebook page. I then retweet two good recent tweets put out by the site's general twitter account. BTW, we don't have very many twitter followers yet for our twitter account. 3. Then I read their newest blog post. I read it thoroughly. Sometimes I don't pick the newest if there is another recent one that is more similar in topic to our site. I spend some time putting together a thoughtful and helpful comment for that blog post. I submit the comment. I then go on FB and carefull post how I found the blog post helpful and place a link to their blog post. A lot of these sites, though, aren't accepting blog post comments but I always post on their facebook page. 4. I wait a couple of days in case my activity gets noticed. At that point, I go to linkedin and look for people that work for the site. If I find a content/marketing director, or if it's a small site and I find the owner [still not very good at this part], I search google for their email address and/or twitter account. I'm successful in finding a specific person only about 1/3 of the time. These sites also often have phone numbers. 5. I send out either A. a tweet to a specific person asking if they need help with content, or B. An email to a specific person like: Subject: Do you need help with content that is very useful to [niche audience] [their first name] I hope you are doing well. [add sentence here referencing something I learned about them, I don't know how to do this part well yet] I'm writing you because we have some content that is useful and important to [niche audience]. It's an article about [our article name and link]. We're wondering if you'd consider, since it would be very beneficial to your audience, to write a blog post explaining and citing that article. We think our doing this would add to [niche audience] quality of life. Sincerely, Bob Weikel

Co-owner
[website] If I don't find a specific person, I write an email as similar to the above as possible and send it to their general email address or contact form. I send one email, wait 2 or 3 business days, send another email, wait 2 or 3 business days. Then I call. I ask for "Marketing" or whoever is in charge of their blog [I haven't done much of this and am not good at it yet] or if it's a small company I might talk to the owner. Sometimes I only send one email before calling, especially if I think email's a lost cause. I never leave voicemail. I always keep calling over several days until I reach someone. When I call and get someone, I say something like, "Hi, I'm Bob from [website]. I was wondering if you would be interested in some content that would be beneficial to [niche audience]." I know there is a lot of room for improvement. I'm looking for a 10% success rate. Thanks.1 -
Does Traffic help improve my page rank?
I've learned many things to do to improve my page rank over the past several months (thanks, seomoz). Our website, www.farnorthkennel.com, has improved greatly thanks to your help. Here's my question. I have 13000 fans on FB. If they all read a blog post I put up, does this help my page rank? Does new visitors hitting up my website make the Google gods smile upon me?

Why dont we get G+ profile images in SERP?
Hi! We have a blog on our Swedish Car site. We have around 10 bloggers that blog frequently for us. Most of them have a Google+ profile and has added us to the "contributes to" field. We also have a rel=me tag on each post. Still after serveral weeks, the Google+ profile picture isnt showing up in the search results. Here is two examples: http://www.facit.com/se/test-renault-megane-sport-tourer-16-dci/ http://www.facit.com/se/test-av-vw-passat-alltrack/ Can anyone help me or explain if there is something I have done wrong? Thanks in advance!

Social Signals, do they help? Looking for a solid Yes or No.
Hi, I've read so much lately about social signals and got basically 3 completely different responses. 1. Yes they are going to over take normal link building in 2013 so get on it. 2. Yeah they do help with rankings but not massively, don't focus to much on it. 3. Na they don't help, you need to gain 1000's of signals and even then it will be a short SERP increase and then back down you go. So... What im looking for now is a straight up Yes or No, should you be on social signals now? Should time spent on gaining social signals be increased? If your doing 10% of your time on social should this percent now shift to a larger percentage? Cheers
