Hi wildcat143,
Feel free to create backlinks for any page on your website. I like to mix backlinks a bit depending on what content and section I want to rank up. Keep it balanced if you can. If your website has only a couple of sections I would only focus on my homepage honestly. Big sites like e-commerce sites should have lots of backlinks to their internal pages and their homepage as well.
SEO evolves constantly due to Google's algorithm getting smarter and smarter and more efficient to find spam websites. Don't try to force Google or you might get banned or penalized. Based on this, and because your site is new, I really don't recommend building that many backlinks per day.
Like sterls suggested, Google Places is a great directory-ish nice backlink to have. I also recommend Nokia Prime Place, Yahoo Directory, Foursquare and DMOZ (getting your site listed here might be hard, but it's worth trying).
It requires a bit of work to find directories that are trustworthy. But you can find some on your own with the help of Google. Don't waste your time on spammy looking directories full of ads. It's hard to tell just by looking at them sometimes, but good directories will ask you for a lot of information, your logo, images and will usually require some editorial approval before posting your link on their website.
Hope you find this information helpful!
Edit: By the way what Keri Morgret said is very important. I took that step for granted since I'm more of a web designer but she is absolutely right!!!

Hi Eblan,
Thanks for your response i want can you give me any link where i can found high quality directories list? also can i create all backlinks for main site like ( www.domain.com ) bcoz i have also keywords for my subpages like ( www.domain.com/target-keyword.html )
Some one told me when you start off page Optimization add daily backlinks for your site like that ( 100 directories, 80 Social bookmarking, 75 blog comment, 5 articles ) for that reason i asked in my Question the number of backlinks daily.
I was completed On-Page Optimization and my site links is SEO friendly names like "www.mysite.com/target-keyword.html".
Also added Google Webmaster's tools and Google Analytics & created social media accounts too.
Many Thanks again for your great information.

You may want to step back and remember that search engines do not buy from you, they don't fill out your forms, sign up for your newsletters, etc. Real people are the ones who will be visiting your website. Do those 16 pages answer their questions? Do they convince readers to take a desired action?
Before you start doing everything for search engines, make sure that your site is set up for people. After that, as Eblan suggested, the Beginner's Guide to SEO is a good resource (as well as the other suggestions).

I would try social networks as a main way to promote yourself. Especially Google Plus as I believe they would begin to focus more on their own social network rather than others such as Facebook over the long term.
If you are a physical business ensure you use Google Places for local audiences in your area.

I would start with On-Page Optimization. Make sure the title tags, images, h1 tags & meta description include the keyword you are aiming for. Make sure the content of your pages has your target keyword a couple of times and use bold or italic at least once to make your keyword stand out. Also make sure each of your pages have SEO friendly names like "www.mysite.com/target-keyword".
What I usually do next is to add Google Webmaster's tools and Google Analytics to my new site. Make sure to create and upload your sitemap.xml to your Webmaster's account.
After that I start creating social media accounts for my website, then wait between 1-2 weeks and start checking if my site has been indexed to Google.
I know SEO consultants no longer do articles submission. I believe it doesn't provide as much link juice as it used to and it might be penalized now by Panda or Penguin algorithms (could be wrong I am still learning).
Try to find a few trustworthy and high quality directories and submit your site on them but don't go too crazy.
Usually this basic strategy gets your site noticed by Google and the other search engines.
Create a blog for your new website and share useful and quality content so you can start using social bookmarking.
And of course try to create a great backlink strategy. I higly recommend you this video. And this amazing beginner's guide by SEOmoz. Take your time and track your progress. Make all your backlinks look natural.
As for how many backlinks per day just remember your site is new so don't go adding 100 links per day. Also, instead of worrying about the quantity, focus on the quality of your links.
Oh yeah, and be very patient!

Redirects, SEO and More
Website errors remittent of Chernobyl. First of all, I ask a lot of questions of the community and I don't do a lot of answering. For that, I am sorry! I own a small SEO company and the majority of my clients are upstarts just like myself. We try to do the best we can on a very limited budget.

With that said, the client website in question, http://bestdefensega.com has been a struggle to rank in the metro atlanta lawyer market.
Here's the story. My client is a new solo attorney that practices criminal law and personal injury law. We launched bestdensega.com to focus on criminal defense and my client has also paid AVVO for a website as well. We recently decided to make a monster website that would have 50+ pages and be representative of all that he practices.
I recently put a temporary redirect on bestdefensega.com and pointed it to the avvo website while I was rebuilding the website. I did this using a plugin.
This morning I decided that I wanted to remove the redirect, so I deactivated and deleted the plugin. The redirect is still in effect. I suspect that this may be a cacheing scenario.
How do I undo a redirect?
Also, I noticed that the AVVO site has all of a sudden shot up to the top of the search results and bestdefnesega.com has dropped past the 3rd page for our keywords. Have I lost all of bestdefensega.com's link juice? Also, bestdefensega.com has a spam score of 7. Why? There are no shady links and everything I do is on the up and up. Also Open Site Explorer says that bestdefensega.com doesn't have any inbound links.
Google WebMaster Tools says that the site has of 500 inbound links.. Frustrated, Thanks0 -
I need to find a writer that is SEO savvy yet great with hooks, editing, and.....
I need to find a writer that is SEO savvy yet great with 1. Hooks (like hooking the user in. This site for instance has "Inbound marketing is complicated. Moz's software makes it easy". 2. Editing - Someone that is again SEO savvy, and doesn't mind editing my text. (Focused mainly on the text for the site right now, articles will be later.) 3. Explaining something complicated in a simple way that engages the user. Anyone have any suggestions? Maybe even someone they use / used? Or which site do you all like best for finding a writer? I registered at textbroker.com but maybe need to look harder...just wasn't seeing anyone that matched that criteria. My budget isn't high, but I believe in paying for quality, so even if I have to pay a high rate for excellent work, they'll also have to be cool with me only doing a page here and a page there every few days or so, as my writing budget for my new site is only $50-$120 a week right now.

Estimating the number of LRD I need to outrank competitor
I just ran a SERP/keyword diffculty report for a keyword I want one of my pages to rank Also, I just conducted the on-the-page-optimization and now I am going to start buidling links. => I would like to estimate how many linking root domains I need to overrank one of my competitor. These are the MOZ data:
Moz Pro | | He_Jo
1. My page:
Page Linking Root domains: 0
Root Domain Linking Root Domains: 151 2. Competitor:
Page linking root domains: 1
Root Domain Linking Root Domains: 5,786 I don't really know on which metric (Page or domain LRD) to rely on in order to make an estimation and I would be glad for some help! To simplyfy the problem, assume that all toher factors (code, on-the-page keyword use., social etc.) are equal for both sites. Can I just get 2LRD to that page in order to likely outrank my competitor or do I need around 5000 more links poiting to my site? I think an answer to this question could help a lot of users here, since I saw similar questions/difficulties regarding the use of page LRD vs. root domain LRD P.S. Non of the pages of my website do currently rank in the top 100 for that keyword.2 -
How does SEOMoz crawl sites? Does it follow the sitemap?
I only ask because in my report it returned a few "no follow" links. Was wondering how SEOMoz operates.

I need a tool/tools to extract keywords from say 50 sites in one niche and then check the rank tor those sites
This is for telemarketing of seo services I want to have some insight into an industry before I call them could this be done with the adwords keyword tool api and then exported to excel. It would also be nice to have data on backlinks say from seo moz opensite explorer.. Its just that the research you do before you even call a potential client is so time consuming and you can never really check to see how they are ranking for there main keywords manually. We are trying to automate as much of this initial research as possible... Any Idea's Thanks

GWT data v SEO Moz data
I'm sure there's a simple explanation but I can't find it - Looking through the GWT avg position data v SEOMoz ranking data and Market Samurai data there is a large discrepancy. For one term that we hold #1, and have held for a month or two GWTis showing that the avg position is 180 (and down 30). Any reason you know of why the GWT avg position data would be so out of whack with our SERP's and other data? Thanks.
