Two questions about BBB.
1. The PA for some company listings is 0 and the PA for others is much higher. Is this because some companies have a link back to their listing and others do not?
2.I checked a random sample of companies with links from BBB to their company site, but the links are not listed in the OSE. Why is that?
Best,
Christopher -
BBB called me yesterday and I decided to give them a chance to convince me of their value rather than hand up on them.
When I asked them what value they will they produce for my business the number one answer was the "SEO benefit" of getting a link from their website. This was over half of the guy's answer. So, it seems that the BBB is in the business of selling links, but when I went to BBB website for my region, all of the links to businesses were "nofollow".

- i use http://www.majesticseo.com for checking backlinks. It shows everything and is far superior than ose in my opinion.

I think a BBB link should be a great link for SEO purposes if you can afford it whether or not it is showing up in OSE. Since the price is prohibitive for smaller businesses, it is a good signal that you are a quality site (spam sites rarely have a link from the BBB).
The other benefit is that visitors are more likely to trust your site if you have a BBB badge since it is a trusted brand that has approved your business. This can lead to higher conversion rates because people are more likely to buy from sites that they trust.

Thanks for the quick response. Is SEO one of the reasons your companies are BBB members? What are the PA for your BBB listings?
Best,
Christopher -
I would assume it's a combination of what you mentioned, how long that listing page has existed, and how well it's linked to internally.
I am surprised what OSE doesn't pick up sometimes, but it's still the best thing out there for competitor analysis. I'm sure it will continue to improve and it may very well pick up those links in the future.
Out of the 4 sites I help that have BBB listings not a one shows in OSE. And the listings have existed for years. Google Webmaster Tools shows them though, so assume they're not going unnoticed by Google.

Adding external links to other businesses
Hi,
Link Building | | LisaBabblebird
I'm looking to add some external links to a website. The homepage has a section showing the logos of clients the company has worked with. Is it worth making these logos links to the clients websites? Some of the clients are household names. However, I've noticed that very few websites do this. Would it add any value?0 -
Having some problems with understanding how to properly use anchor text for my keywords' better rankings. Please help!
Hello, Last week I did some work on my website's inner pages linking and some of my highly ranking keywords fell down as a result. I guess I did something wrong, please help me figure out what exactly was wrong! Here is the example of what I did. I put a link to the page that ranks for 'Thermador repair Brentwood' here: http://www.ifixappliancesla.com/blog/2016/09/12/appliance-repair-brentwood/ I put exactly same anchor text, 'Thermador repair Brentwood'. For my blog posts, I use Yoast plugin, so when adding the link, I received the message "You are linking to another page with the focus word you want this page rank for. Consider changing that if you truly want this page to rank." While this one's ranking, 'Thermador repair Brentwood', didn't fall down, others did. Could you please confirm if my understanding is right and I'd better not use the same keywords on two or more pages? If yes, what is the best practice for linking to the pages that are not in the main menu? Let's say, I decided to do blog posts for the areas my appliance repair company serves and to optimize those pages for respective keywords. So, I have pages like "Appliance Repair Service in Brentwood" (which is optimized for "appliance repair brentwood" keyword), "Appliance Repair Service in Beverly Hills" ("appliance repair beverly hills" keyword), etc. I thought that the best way to link to them is to put the same anchor texts: "appliance repair beverly hills", etc. But it looks like the best way would be to use the anchor texts like "Beverly Hills", "appliance servicemen in Beverly Hills". Please tell me if I am right? Any explanation, advise or referral would be much appreciated! Thank you!

Is it better to have micro-sites with good content or redirect domains?
I have a domain with a lot of content and it is an eCommerce site. I've just been told that we have another 12 domains that are inactive and do not redirect. I don't know what to do with them as they haven't been used for ages and do not direct or have any content (max of a DA or 4). Therefore which is better for SEO? To have really good content with perhaps a few regular blog posts on each of the 12 domains, or to redirect all of the domains to the one main domain? I would take 1 domain and put a lot of content on and optimise is.. spending a few weeks on one and then move onto another, all while posting on each blog on each domain. Thank you for any help! 🙂

Phone Call or Email Better
Hello, I had a Moz associate look at our niche, and he suggested using phone calls and emails for outreach. We are marketing an article that appeals to the humanitarian side of the organizations and companies we're contacting. We're contacting sites that are already listing useful articles. When you have the choice between a phone call or an email for outreach, which do you choose? The emails would be personalized, to a specific person when possible, and letting them know that we are a reciprocator by sharing across social channels and/or blog post commenting for them. The phone calls would be to the companies' general contact numbers. Which do you do first?

Optimizing YP.com and Yelp listings for local business
I have a fairly new business and I have been citation building over the past year. I noticed that when I perform a search for my keyword and city that YP.com and Yelp show up high on Google SERPS. I have a listing on both of these directories but my listing is unfortunately buried. I have optimized my listings on these sites to the best of my ability. I have not upgraded to paid advertising on either. It's expensive and I here mixed reviews on the ROI. I will list both profiles: http://www.yelp.com/biz/care-wellness-center-margate | http://www.yellowpages.com/margate-fl/mip/care-wellness-center-465315829 | Can anyone offer any advice on optimizing or boosting these listings so I turn up in the first 3-5 instead of 20 or lower? Thank you Robert Herbst

Group of small business owners links to each other. Do they get slapped for Private Blog Network?
I realize this is a far cry from BuildMyRank. But say this partially hypothetical groupl is a business chamber of commerce group. 30 businesses with modest sites (few links). They do their best to consistently exchange links back and forth. Nothing to abusive and some relevancy with respect to anchor links (lawyer give the accountant a plug when discussing minimizing taxes on his blog). Are these "little guys" heading for trouble? If not, when do you cross the line and face BuildMyRank type issues?

What link would be better?
Okay, I found a niche blog that has a google PR6. They have a ton of dollow blogroll links, as well as a ton of internal links on homepage. Would I be better off getting the blogroll link? Getting a link in an existing post with a lower PR? Getting an advertiorial written with a link in it? I just don't know. It has a domain authority of 33 currently. It's not a cheap link for blogroll. The in-post, or advertorial isn't too bad, but not cheap either. Thanks in advance.
