SEO beginner- How to decide what keyword to go after?
-
I started a website called Think and Grow Entrepreneur. I'm not sure where to start with Keywords and which ones to go after.
Should I input the same keywords over and over my blog to rank in those or should I look at every post as a single entity and try to rank different keywords in each blog.
Ideally I would like to rank for the keyword Entrepreneur, but there are already very powerful companies with the same keyword. How should I go about this situation?
I appreciate any feedback. Thanks!

Hi Sung, first of all I recommend you to avoid one term keywords, look more to keyphrases. Look at what people normally add to the entrepeneur keyword to make their searches, for that you may use the adwords keyword tool. Expand your list of keywords as much as you can and then refine it removing the not related ones. You need to spend a lot of time in it because that will be the base of your entire work in the future.
After you got the keywords which more interests you look at the seomoz keyword difficulty tool. That may give you insight of which keyword will be the easier compared to the volume it has. Than if you still find those keywords are still too much competititve try to extend those ones with the third term. In that way you'll find which are the best kws to start with.
Remember that when you start achieving value to some longer keywords you're still getting value for the shortest combination, and in the future you may achieve some authority and start seeing your site ranking for the most competitive keywords too.
As a general rule, start getting market share in the bottom lines, huge brands normally leave unseen lower trafficked keywords, they achieve traffic because everyone looks a t the top keywords only. Then you'll start growing from the bottom.

Proper use of location in keywords
¿If I want to track keywords in a specific location, do I need to write the keyword with the location or only the keyword? For example: If I want to track the results of the keyword "hair salon" in a specific city, should I write "Hair salon in (city chosen) or only hair salon.

Apostrophes impact on SEO
I have a question about the use of Apostrohes in the text of your site for your keyword. Most of the info I have found says in most cases it does not matter, but it depends. Most of the info about this issue I have found is a few years old. I am leaning towards not using it at all to make it easier for everyone writing for the website to always do it the same way. Here is an example: Lawyer’s Lawyers' Lawyers Does it matter if I use the apostrophe?

Optimizing a Webpage without keywords
Hi all, I’m really running into a challenge internally lately in that we have a lot of teams redesigning or building new pages (specificially one team) that do NOT loop our teams in. When we finally get them to work with us, to drive traffic to the pages, they disagree that there must be other ways of optimizing the pages than focusing on keywords with search volume that are relevant to the page. We usually land that they will choose a keyword or two they think a user will search for, we do keyword research and pick something close (because they don’t want to utilize a term that doesn’t make much sense, as they have written the content without involving us from the beginning, but then our search volume is declining). They keep saying there are other ways than changing the paired down content on their page and adding in keywords to the H1 headers, content on page. they mentioned semantic search at one point. For example, https://www.entrust.com/products/entrust-getaccess/ currently ranks around #10 for "single sign on solution." This keyword was on the previous page quite a few times in headers and body copy. Now it appears on the page 3 times after the redesign and is not in the h1. The team does for example want to optimize for this term, but there’s lots of pushback as they want a page with minimal content and little design. Just wondering your thoughts on this. IS this a common challenge you deal with too and any idea on answers as I've tried many with the teams? Thanks, Laura

What does it mean when two keywords in Google's Keyword Research Tool have exactly the same amount of searches?
The two keywords are [publicity] and [product placement] (both in exact search - not broad) and have 22,200 searches each. Is it purely coincidental or are the two keywords kind of related in Google's eyes and that's why we're seeing the same amount of searches for each?

Trying to avoid Keyword Cannibalization
I have a navigation menu at the top of my page with drop down menus that lead to different pages of my web site. Very typical navigation. If I have a page that is optimized for a particular keyword, lets say "Awesome Blue Widgets", do I want to remove that link from the navigation menu on the page awesome-blue-widgets.htm since the link uses the keyword phrase "Awesome Blue Widgets'?

Top Ranking sites for specific keywords
Is there a way to put in a list of targeted keywords and see what the top 5 sites on Google are? There are several competitor tools in SEOmoz but I can't find anything that would allow you to do that. I have a list of 40 or so keywords that I would like to check what sites are in the top 3 positions on Google for each of the keywords. Thanks in advance

Keywords for homepage and product categories
My homepage explains the different electrical equipment our company sells, our main product category page also does the same but in more detail. I'm stuck where I feel the homepage and product category page need to be optimised for the same keyword except the homepage needs to be optimised for our company name too. Was anyone else in the same situation as me and how did you choose the right keyword between two pages that have the same message?
