Hit by Panda - Google Disavow Help
-
Hi
I hope you can help me
A Website I manage has been hit hard by the Panda Update. I am really struggling to understand what is seen as a Spammy link. The Website use to be on page 1 for "fancy dress" now it isnt visable for that term at all and most other terms the site has dropped for.
I have looked into what might have gone wrong and have removed several links , used the disavow tool 2-3 times and submitted re-consideration requests, but each time google informs me that they are still detecting unnatural links.
Could somebody please take a look at our link profile www.partydomain.co.uk for "fancy dress" as an example and show examples of links you would consider that google might not like.
It would also be good if anybody had any contacts in the UK that could help
thanks
Adam

To further stress EGOL's point, this is definitely a Penguin problem if related to unnatural link detection. But that's simple semantics which are definitely relevant when searching for information/help in this matter.
It honestly should be pretty easy to figure out what spammy links there are. For example, you sell dresses, so if your website has links all over underground hip hop forums then it's probably unnatural.
What paid link services have you used? Can you contact them for submission reports? Most will provide this upon request...

ohhhh... Panda problems are usually caused by thin content and duplicate content. Penguin problems and unnatural link penanties result from spammy links.
You might want to read the new YouMoz article about these topics by Marie Haynes to get panda and penguin straight.... and also learn how to handle some spammy link problems.
Lots of people - even pro SEOs - don't understand the difference between Panda, Penguin and unnatural links.
Read the article so you don't do damage through improper actions.

Hey Adam,
This doc is a little old but still useful. You need two docs. Your link profile from OSE and this doc http://seogadget.com/categorising-your-links/ (download excel at the bottom).
The way they show to copy data from OSE to SEGadget has changed, so see comments at the bottom or leave a message here if you get stuck.
Once you have the data you can see a big list of panda losers/winners etc.. good chance those spammy links are in the panda losers section...
Also are you getting any messages in webmaster tools?
Adam

Google Answer Box
I optimized several pages using Rand's post on Google Answer Box: https://moz.com/blog/how-to-appear-in-googles-answer-boxes-whiteboard-friday How long after the page is indexed should it appear? Lastly, how long should I wait before determining it will not get an answer box and reconfigure the page? No bad answers 🙂 TY KJr

Google Data Highlighter
Hello Mozers! Anyone out there have any experience using the Google data highlighter tool in WMT? I'm just curious if it is something I should be utilizing or should just try to get the same results using microdata markup. I'm not a fan of "tools" per se...I'd rather get my hands dirty. Just looking for any thoughts or experiences in using it.

How can I make google display rich snippets when searching for my domain?
My domain is www.phraseexpander.com If I search for phraseexpander in google, I'm in the first position (as it should be) but google is not giving extra space to my result as it happens, for example, if you search for "fogbugz". Is there any way I can hep google index my contents (I currently have a site index that is created by Yoast SEO). Thanks a lot. Andrea

Help With Disappearing Rankings
Hi Guys, I am stumped!!. I have been asked to look at this site http://www.quarrymotors.co.uk. Which has lost rankings for "BMW Parts" since a redesign of the site. Through a bit of detective work I have managed to get hold ot the wayback machine version of the old site here http://web.archive.org/web/20080520104847/http://www.quarrymotors.co.uk/ And according to the onpage factors I have compared with SEOquake, the keyword density, title tag, description is almost identical. I have checked webmaster tools and analytics (I only have data from June 22nd) So I am unable to confirm what traffic was available before the redesign. All other keywords:- BMW Breakers BMW Spares Are on the first page but this keyword "BMW Parts" is on page 22??!?. I have checked open site explorer and it's not a case over optimisation of anchor text as a majority of the keywords are pointing back to the url and it's one of the cleanest profiles I have ever seen. The only issue, which it can't be is right at the top left corner of the site is a piece of text "Used BMW Parts & Spares" Any help would be gracefully appreciated Kind Regards Neil

Possible Reasons for 40% Drop in Google since January?
Hello: I know this is long - but I kept it as succinct as I could to explain the situation - but everyone of the brilliant people on here insight is so greatly appreciated in advance. There has been more than a 30% decline in traffic mostly from Google on a site with an 11 year presence on the web, 5 page rank (historically 6), fairly good quality backlinks (but they are old). I cannot pinpoint a smoking gun (such as a specific penalty) - if it's just not attrition in demand for the product itself which there is plenty of evidence for. But I practice only white hat, so I don't know what it is. I do not engage right now in link building because my time to work on SEO is very limited. We have a few common keywords that cannot be avoided (because there are no good synonyms) so there is a high density for one word especially all over the site. From some websites (like tidbits) we have in Google Webmaster account tens of thousands of backlinks. How serious is this (FYI - they're not new though) Because of some unflattering reviews from sites with strong authority, the number of click throughs vs. impression in Google Search has dropped dramatically - I think a big part of it is that because the reviews drove down CT ratio. Interestingly, the number of CTs from Adwords has also dropped off significantly, and I was told by Adwords specialist that declining organic traffic does affect the Adwords traffic to - in fact, they're not even using our daily budget for Adwords as they used to. The site also doesn't pick up quality organic backlinks as it used to, and the anchor link text is almost always the same - a product name. Plus, the site was banned in 2008 by Google (from a black hat keyword stuffing that I discovered happened in another dept.) and only after really working hard was it reinstated by reconsideration request. Site traffic from Google has never fully reached it's potential since then. Also, text prices were removed from Buy Now buttons even though the prices were textually part of the buttons for years (could this be some penalty?) **Is it possible that Google is taking the ban history, the poor reviews, the decline in CTs to impressions on the site, the huge decline (75% over four years) in "search volume" or "search interest" (according to Google Trends) for the site's main product name and just using all of this to keep downgrading the site? If true, wouldn't the page rank be diving down to anywhere from 0 to 2 (or is that not relevant at all?) ** There are no messages of a penalty or anything else in the official Webmaster account for this site. Any insight anyone is able to provide is much appreciated.

Google SERPS showing wrong page.
I am new to SEO and trying to rank for keyword 'corporate entertainment' and my site is currently at 26. However google is showing the homepage http://www.musicliveuk.com in SERPS as opposed to my optomised page http://www.musicliveuk.com/home/corporate-entertainment. Any ideas why it is choosing so show the home page as the most relevant result?
