Author Tag on Blogger - What am I Doing Wrong?!
-
Hi All,
I've just taken over handling our company's blog at http://www.cookwareblog.com.au/. We have several writers for this blog so I want to set up separate author tags for each of them.
As you can see from the latest post - http://www.cookwareblog.com.au/2012/06/weird-and-wacky-ice-cream-recipes.html - I am the author/publisher.
However, I can't seem to link my blogger author profile - http://www.blogger.com/profile/05603194922729243157 - to my Google Plus profile because when you go to my Blogger Profile it automatically redirects to my G+ profile. Also, there is no link directly from my blogger post, it just says "Posted by Brad Russell" (unlike previous posts by the master login for our company, which link to a central author profile page).
What am I doing wrong? Today I successfully set up author tags on my Wordpress blog, I just can't seem to get it right on Blogger.
Thanks!

Hi Jane,
It appears that the correct authors are now appearing in the SERPs.
All I did was make sure that each blogger was listed as a contributor and for each post I simply added "Written by Author Name - Author Name Google+". I linked the "Author Name Google +" to the respective G+ account and from the G+ account back to the blog under the 'Contributor To' field.
Anyway, all seems to be working now - just thought I'd reply in case anyone needs help in the future!
Many thanks,
Brad -
Hi Brad,
I don't think you're actually doing anything "wrong" here, but Blogger is not as flexible or advanced as Wordpress, and has shortcomings for both usability and SEO purposes. Are you trying to create re="author" tags so that they will display correctly in search results?
You can encase the Google Plus link in a rel="author" tag, and that should work, but I am concerned that there is not a way to set this up such that the "posted by Brad Russell" tag automatically links through.
Has the company thought about moving over to Wordpress for this blog? It generally makes life a lot easier!
Cheers,

Are Social tags beyond Structured Data still required?
Hello: I have a client that has Structured data set up correctly to include their social profiles for FB, Twitter, and Google+. But when I run an audit tool it tells me that they need < re=Publisher > tag for Google Plus. My understanding is that we don't need any additional code beyond the Structured Data tags. Is that correct? Thank you Rosemary

Is this mistake in use of 'publisher' meta tag
Hi There!, There is a confusion with 'Publisher' meta tag. Instead of using 'Google+ page' we have used Google profile pages in meta 'publisher' tag on most of pages. Currently they all are indexed. Also, in 'Author' meta tag same Google Profile page is linked. E.g. - on page - https://www.sitegeek.com/arvixe , following are the publisher and author tags: <a href="https://plus.google.com/117949772080676863960" rel="<a class="attribute-value">publisher</a>">a> <a href="https://plus.google.com/u/0/102179677098786549874/about" rel="<a class="attribute-value">author</a>"> So I am not sure how much it would effect SEO rankings. Please suggest what would the best way to update it? Further, site has its Google+ page: [https://plus.google.com/+Sitegeekcom/posts ] so it should be updated in 'publisher' tag or we should create a new Google+ page using existing Author Google+ profile. Is it wise for employees to be tied to a company's content with rel=author?
We're an e-commerce company that sells consumer goods. We are launching a blog that will have advice, tips, etc. on topics related to our industry. I'd like for us to implement rel=author on the content. If we rel=author the content to an employee, what are the possible repercussions if that employee leaves the company? I know the markup is pretty new and hasn't been widely implemented, but has anyone dealt with this?

Ghostwriting, blogging, and rel=author
Do you think it's unethical to use ghostwriting on a company's blog? Specifically, I mean hiring a writer to create content for the blog, and then publishing the content under, say, the CEO's name and using rel=author to tie it to the CEO's social identity. Does that undermine the whole idea of AuthorRank? Is it gaming the system?

Twitter Hash Tags Leave Me A Liitle Confused :-(
Good Afternoon from 9 degrees C wetherby UK I'm trying to get a better understanding of how search results are retrieved in Twitter. Take this scanario for instance. Via twitter search (see screen grab for illustration [IMG]http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc53/zymurgy_bucket/hash-tag-query.jpg[/IMG] ) you enter Vintage Clothing. The results

show tweets where some have #Vintage #clothing in the text whilst others just have the term vintage clothing in the tweet. So my question is please... "If your client asks how do i get my tweets picked up by searchers looking for vintage clothing should i ad hash tags or not bother and just mention the term in the tweek" Put another way, why do some tweeters hash tag a key pharse and place term in the snippet. I'm, a bit confused... [IMG]http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc53/zymurgy_bucket/confused.jpg[/IMG]0 -
If I move my blog from subdomain to root, will my blog lose all of its authority? Social signals?
Moving my blog from blog.site.co.uk to site.co.uk/blog and just wondered if all the social data for each post will be lost including the blog authority which has been built up over time? Is 301 redirects enough to keep any of it?
