Assigning Locations to Wordpress from SEO Perspective?
-
I am looking for a way to split up and assign my 400 Wordpress posts to my business' four separate office locations.
The four offices are in four separate areas with distinct city names.
What way makes the most sense from an SEO perspective - assigning the city names as categories? adding the location as a tag, or some other way that I haven't considered?
Currently, all posts are categorized by content and have no mention of location.
Happy to answer any questions you might need in order to answer.
Thank you!

Hi Scott,
What you're suggesting - somehow assigning each blog post to a specific location - doesn't make sense to me for taxonomy purposes or for SEO purposes.
Assuming you assigned the posts to a specific taxonomy for locations, whether that looked like Tags or Categories, it provides little value aside from adding a small amount of text to the page.
Internal linking is one way to take advantage of the fact that you have that much unique content, but that really boils down to 2 tasks:
- Ensure that each of the 4 locations has a dedicated location page (eg domain.com/locations/seattle-wa/) that is linked from your nav menu or sidebar in order to make sure every page on the site links there. Be mindful of the anchor text you use - it's hard to do an anchor text heavy with keywords for a location page without it looking spammy).
- Add links within the body content of the page - when it's relevant to do so.
You can also begin to produce blog content that is geographically relevant as a way to directly build links to these location pages. For example, if your 4 locations were paint supply stores, and one location was in Seattle, you might create an article on "18 Seattle Homes With Crazy Paint Jobs" - this would be an effective piece of content to link directly to your Seattle location page. You'd want to do it in a natural way. Here's a good vs bad example:
- Good: "We sent out 2 paint consultants from our Seattle location to scout out the most off-the-wall paint jobs in the Emerald City."
- Bad: "Read more about our Seattle paint store."
-
Thanks for answering.
End game is to attempt to gain equal coverage for all of our offices and to help each office show up better in SERP.
No posts are about the cities themselves, they are all varied and occupationally relevant to my offices.

What end result are you trying to accomplish, Scott?
Are any of the posts actually specifically about the individual cities?

Random /feed 404 error from a wordpress site
My Moz Analytics report shows a 404 error on a page which I think should not exist at all. The URL is http://henryplumbingco.com/portfolio-item/butler-elementary/feed/. When I checked webmaster tools, it looks like there are a number of random /feed urls throwing 404 errors. I am using WordPress and the Enfold theme. Anyone know how to get rid of these errors? Thanks,

Using Google structured Data for SEO benefit
Hi there I run www.isacleanse.com.au and I've set up some Structured data using Google Webmaster Tools which says it will be picked up during the next Google update (has been set up over 4 weeks ago), however I dont seem to see any of the structured data for the products/reviews/ratings etc coming through in search results. Question at hand: Is there additional things I need to do in the code of the website or should this be sufficient? (see attached screenshot) szpFUpX

SEO Optimization for Sales Page
Hi, I am new to eCommerce. Traditionally I have run a couple of semi-successful websites relying largely on Adsense revenue and affiliate income. So I have a bit of experience with on page and off page SEO. This time around I am creating a membership site and also sell eBooks as bundles that non members can buy. My question is, should I SEO optimize the sales page for my eBook or use another content page that links to the sales page. For example, if I am selling an ebook on Dog Training and targeting the main KW "Dog Training Tips", should my sales page be optimized for "Dog Training Tips"? The reason I ask is because typically Sales pages do not provide a lot of useful information but are more geared around selling the product. The other option would be to create a helpful information page targeted for "Dog Training Tips" and lead users to my sales page through contextual links, banners, popups (I hate popups), etc. This would be the approach for the other LSI keywords anyways. Any thought would be appreciated.

SEO Content Revolution Question
I was wondering if articles written about questions people are asking will help my website rank better. For example let's say I wrote an article answering the query, "What Hair Dye Does Angela Merkel Use?" or, "Is Hillary Clinton Thinking of Running for President," and they rank well on google, and in turn they get viewed a lot by searchers because it answers their queries. Would this help my website as whole start ranking better? Thanks!

Are flip books - pdf readers on websites SEO friendly?
I have a client with bar, most of their content is menus that are displayed in a flip book format. Is this content indexed by search engines, and if so, are they of any value for ranking?

Organic SEO for Local Towns
This is a fairly common question, but I am going to ask it again. I want to get ranked for many keywords: "hr outsourcing sheboygan", "HR outsourcing duluth", etc., all in my small state. Doing some random research, there are few if any pages with exact match phrases in the URL, Title, Etc. = No competition) Moreover, Google is not popping google places ads for these terms. My plan is to create fairly unique pages on my site optimized for each town. Right now, the pages are at 65% duplicate. I would assume that all of my pages will have some degree of duplication - there are similar elements on every page. If I run the content through a duplicate content tester, is there a % of unique content that would be fairly safe to avoid the duplicate content slap? Yes, I know it's more complicated than that semantic, heuristic, etc. - just looking for some general guidelines.

Onpage SEO before Offpage?
Hi there, I want to ask why should a website first have Onpage optimization and after that Offpage optimization or Link building/earning? I have read that this is better, even obligatory in many articles but I am not sure for the reason and benefits of that. Can at least social media optimization start at the same time or at the middle of the Onpage optimization?

How is my on-site SEO looking like?
I know this is a broad question. My site's content has been written more than one year ago and haven't been changed so far. Our main goal is to make the application hosted in the site work better every day, so we don't worry much about writing content. The URL is http://www.onlinelogomaker.com
