Purchasing a Google Plus Profile
-
A client of mine has the opportunity to purchase a google plus profile from a now defunct competitor. Essentially the profile is in tens of thousands of circles, so it may be a decent idea just from a marketing standpoint. When it comes to SEO I am wondering about a few things
-
Is this against Googles rules?
-
Has there been any proof of authorship playing a role in SERP rankings? So if there was an article where the author was in 50 circles compared to the same article where the author was in 50,000 circles would it effect the rankings at all?
-
Have there been any studies done that show that the +1 (from Google Plus users) effects SERP rankings?
Sorry for all the questions, but this is an interesting opportunity. Thanks in advance!

I think that any study would have to be case specific to be worth anything. A circle with two influencers or two popes would be far more valuable than a circle with 5000 drunks. And at the same time who YOU are and what YOU produce is going to make all of the difference. If you are putting out crap nobody is going to pay attention to you and if they do pay attention to you it is really going to be damaging to your brand.
-
That is really the million $ question, right? I have been searching all over to find valuation numbers for Google+ but can;t find them. Have you (or anyone else) seen any studies with this info?
-
It's easy to buy lots of fake circles for your page. I would verify that the 50,000 circles that the page has are indeed real people, and that content that's posted there gets real engagement. By quantifying how much engagement posts on the page get, and coming up with a dollar amount of how much that engagement is worth to your business, you should be able to determine whether the page is a good buy or not.
-
Good question. It is actually a business page not a profile.
-
I had imagined it being a bit more complicated than just switching the name. The page in question (not profile as I mistakenly wrote before) is a enthusiast group. So it would be like a widget company paying to buy a widget enthusiast group's page.
The additional power would come from the fact the widget company could promote their content to the enthusiast group. I would imagine it would also increase the circle count of the author as well.
-
Can't stress enough how much I agree about it being a bad investment and that just because there's people in the circles it doesn't mean any of them will stick around once it changes hands.
-
First of all, is this a personal profile or a business profile? Because right now authorship is only for individuals, not brand pages. For your questions:
-
I have not seen anything explicitly against selling a Google account, but you might want to double check on that.
-
Google has said that authorship does not currently play a role in Google's algorithm, but many people believe it will in the near future. However, the authority of an author will likely be based on more than just circle count (where the writer writes, engagement their content receives, etc)
-
+1 do affect SERP rankings, but only for your connections that are logged into their Google accounts.
-
-
I can tell you that is probably a very bad investment.
Google's rules are very clear about being transparent with your actions on Google +
https://developers.google.com/+/policies
Google pays attention to names very closely. When you're client or friend
changes the name of the business to his and the name of the other gentlemen to his Google will find out and they will ban the site

-
yes it's very much against the rules
-
yes there's a lot of proof of authorship playing a large role (primarily on blogs) but as an individual Google dose grade you and authorship tricks like this one will not go over well. You'll most likely be penalized. I do not have any information about 50 circles compared to the same article with the author with 50,000 circles. I'm sure you can Google that however it does make a difference you have to actually be the person that gained the 50,000 Circle users. Plus the users are going to abandon him once he takes over for the person selling it.
-
There have been quite a few studies done on the impact of social media a.k.a. Google + and all the rest collectively playing a large role or small role in your search engine results. You can type better and to search on Moz and find that.
Lastly if you want to help your friend. Prevent them from doing this here is the beginning of what Google has to say about all this and it gets a little bit worse for people trying to buy their way into rankings

Will Huge bounce rate from social media visits affect SEO or website Ranking according to Google algorithm factors?
We have one website and have posted our blog post url in the social media sites and got almost 5k visits in 3 days’ time, with 11sec avg time on site, zero conversions and with 97% bounce rate. This in turn reduced the total conversion rate for the same month to less than 0.5%. According to google algorithm, these are factors affecting website ranking. Can anyone guide me whether which visits from social media affect our website in any case based on these Analytics factors? Please help me out on the same! Note: Blog post topic was related to latest technology update and the landing page also based in the respective topic as well.

Is there a Facebook Ad equivalent to Google MCC?
Hi Mozzers, Really unsure if we are missing something here, but whilst trying to set-up paid ads for some of our clients on FB we have run into a significant issue. We need to be able to allow FB to debit multiple business accounts for varying ads on different pages. However every time we try to access the ads manager to set-up a new ad, FB takes us to the individuals (the person logged in to the page) account, rather than creating an ad account for that page/business individually. What are we missing? We use Google MCC for managing our PPC campaigns and so wondered if there is anything similar we can use for FB? Or any other recommendations on how to get round this without dragging each client into the office and asking them to log-in so that we can set these up? Thanks!

700+ Genuine likes in 4 Days on a new Site - Does it risk Google Spam?
Hi my site www.dealwithautism.com is a brand new site - only 2 months old and since Autism is a fairly competitive niche, id do not get more than 30 impression and 4-5 clicks for my 40+ pages on Google. However, recently I have become very active in the social platforms, so over the last week I am getting 200+ pageviews just from Facebook and Twitter, that not bad., I have recently created a post 21 apps for Autism https://www.dealwithautism.com/top-apps-for-autism/ Suddenly this post is generating a lot of interest and in the last 4 days I have received as many as 700+ likes (purely editorially) and it is growing in terms of 100s per day. How I acquired them? Well, firstly I believe it is a very good post. Secondly, I selected one of the Apps in the list as 5 star and editor's choice! Then twitted and Fb mentioned to that company on Twitter and Facebook. They returned the favour by re-tweeting and since they have tens of thousands of followers, my page immediately got traction. My question is this: Do I need to worry about Google turning a suspicious eye on me for being a new site getting too many social signals in too short time? Should I pull out the Like buttons for a while from my site to slow things down?? I am new to web development and not fully sure how Google would recognize social spam.

Sharing Blogs on my Personal or Business Google plus Account
Hi i have been using my business G+ account to share my blogs, but have realised that this would have been better using my personal G+ account. Should i now go back through those 50+ blogs and re-share via my personal G+ account eg one every 3 days or should i re-share the G+ business entry? Thanks Ash

Google+ currently DOES support hidden addresses?
We noticed yesterday that many of our clients with hidden addresses are now able to get a verified G+ page through the Places dashboard. Anyone else have any insight on this? Are they classified as "Local" pages, or just verified "Business" pages?

Lost with Google services: place, Google +, page, youtube ...?
Hello MOoooooooooooooz ! Sorry to add another post on this. But I think most of us agree on the fact that for Google +, Google is not making very good job. Even worst when we know how low is the engagement on this website. Now I'm facing the following issue: Multi page and accounts through Google services ! One of my customer is playing music. So she has a google + profil and a youtube. Now we created the same for her website: A google page and then a google place (Google team has been sending hundred of messages and so far has not merge them). Then I opened a youtube for the Google Page. So i end up with: A Google + Profil for her (we use for the authorship) A Goole + profil for her website (we use for the SEO) A Google place page (we use for maps SEO) A youtube account for her (come with gmail) A youtube channel for her (easier to promote her job) A youtube channel automatically created through the Google + page (2) What would you do in this case to: Get 1 Google page Get 1 youtube channel I would like something easy to use even for youtube download or reviews and sharing. So I do not know which one to keep, etc ... Hope you can help me as I'm sure many of us faced the same issue.
