Software for checking local listings?
-
Is there any software that you can enter in the name of a company, phone number, address, or website URL and get back a list of all the local search terms they are on the first page for?

Hi Chase,
Linda has given you very good information here. I also recommend that you check out 51 Blocks' competitive analysis tool: http://www.51blocks.com/online-marketing-tools/free-local-analysis/
Though not, per se, a ranking tool, it provides a great deal of free insight into why certain businesses are achieving certain rankings.

Hi Chase,
BrightLocal and Places Scout are the 2 best known rank trackers for local. But none of them, including Authority Labs do it the way you want to do it.
With them all you enter the KWs you want to track and it will report on the rankings. None of them find all the existing KWs you rank for.
I only know of one tool and it's free that will go out and FIND whatever variety of KWs a site is already ranking for. Again it's free, so not totally reliable and only works if the tool has already picked up the site.
But it's a very cool and relatively unknown tool I discovered and posted an in-depth overview about recently that demonstrates how it could be used for local search. The tool is savedhistory.net. May need to dig around to uncover the power of it. I had to play with it quite a bit for my post, to get to the meat of the features that are cool for local KW ranking and research. Here's the site I used in my example so you can go right in and see what it does without digging. http://savedwebhistory.com/d/90210dentist.net
Again it's free, not pretty and not comprehensive - but can be useful for the situations I cited. Pre-consult, new potential client, to see what they may already be ranking for. OR for KW discovery to find out what other KWs competitors in that industry rank for.

Authority labs checks keyword rankings (keywords that you define) at the domain level, and reports if the SERPS are displaying local listing for that particular keyword.

Remove geographic modifiers from keyword list
I just pulled a search term report for all of 2013 from my PPC account. What I got was 673,000 rows of terms that have garnered at least 1 impression in 2013. This is exactly what I was looking for. My issue is that the vast majority of terms are geo-modified to include the city, the city and state or the zip code. I am trying to remove the geographic information to get to a list of root words people are interested in based on their search query patterns. Does anyone know how to remove all city, state and zip codes quickly without having to do a find and replace for each geo-modifier in excel? for example, if i could get a list of all city and state combinations in the US and a list of all zip codes, and put that list on a separate tab and then have a macro find and remove from the original tab any instances of anything from the second tab, that would probably do the trick. Then I could remove duplicates and have my list of root words.

Links listed in MozPro Crawl Diagnostics
Ok, seeing as I'm getting to the end of my first week as a Pro Member, I'm getting more and more feedback regarding the pages on my site. I'm slightly concerned though that, having logged in this morning, I'm being shown 407 warnings for pages with 'Too Many On Page Links.' According to the blurb at the top of the page, 'Too Many' is generally defined as being over 100 links on a page ... but when I look at the pages which are being thrown up in the report, none of them contain anywhere near 100 links. I seriously doubt there is a glitch with the tool which has led me to think that maybe there's an issue with the way my site is coded. Is anyone aware of a coding problem that may lead Google and SEOMoz to suspect that I have a load of links across my site? P.S. As an aside, when this tool mentions 'Too Many Links' is it referring purely to OBL or does it count links to elsewhere on my domain too? Cheers,

OPen Site Explorer listing criteria?
Checking link data for a potential client who has given me access to their websmaster tools account, I've noticed that Google list over 150,000 "Links to Your Site" but yet OSE only reports a tiny fraction of this number.
Moz Pro | | G-DC
I have manually verified that there are in fact direct links from the sites that are listed in Webmaster Tools but not in OSE. Does OSE discard some links? Is there a reporting lag? Does anyone know why there would be such a large discrepancy?0 -
Keyword Difficulty Tool on local results. Is this really working?
I've tried the Keyword Difficulty Tool on "consultant seo" in Romania (that is .ro) The tool says that it's Highly Competitive (59%), but I've got my website on #8 in 2 weeks. Question: Is this tool really working for local results? It seems way off... Actually I was kind of expecting for this keyword to be easy, what is confusing is the "59%" from the Keyword Difficulty results. Thanks for the answers!
