IP address changed, subdomains added - how will affect?
-
Hello,
Two weeks ago we have changed IP address of our website, also we've added new subdomains for static content (like img.domain.com & js.domain.com) and changed the links on the site accordingly.
The old IP is also working and the old links are accessible too.
For some reason, since the change, we see a SE (google) traffic constant drop everyday.
I've read only Google's support (http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=34437)
that such change shouldn't affect the ranking anyhow. On the other hand I've consulted with SEO people and was told that such change may affect in the close new feature (for couple of weeks) and then bring the ranking back.
I would like to hear another opinion, I want to get back to our board with approved answers.
Please advice.
Thanks.

thank you.

The links are not related to your IP, but to the URL. If images are available on both img.domain and www.domain, then you have a duplication issue. Best practice is to 301 redirect from the old to the new URL to give a clear indication of the unique location they are on.
-
The old IP and the new IP are working.
Yes we changed DNS.
And also as I said the old links are working and the new links also working, because they're relatively on the same please, so:
img.domain.com/image.jpg = www.domain.com/image.jpg
So in case Google is trying to access the old links, they are working too. Same for the old IP.

Indeed, an IP change shouldn't have any impact. What do you mean by "the old IP are still accessible"? You routed the DNS to the new IP, right?
A possible reason I might see is that you may have changed your images to a new subdomain - img.domain.com). Did you redirect from where the old images were placed? If not, this might explain for part of the traffic drop since the new images have to be re-indexed.

Moving wordpress themes, any best practices on setting up Google Analytics for the change?
We currently have a mess of filters and views in our Google Analytics instance. We have a chance to make a clean start. Wondering if creating a whole new property is a good idea? Or just some additional views? Any other pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Help me exclude our dynamic IP addresses from GA
Hi There, I can't believe we are the first SEO Web Development company with the issue of dynamic IP addresses, for technical reasons our ISP keeps changing our IP addresses to different random IP addresses (no patterns, ranges, or reasoning to the specific changes) and we obviously need to exclude our own visits to google analytics - but I can't seem to find any simple way to do this in Google Analytics - can you help me find a simple solution for this? I did find two chrome extensions(I'll give you the links to those at the end) that I will look into if you cant help me find a simpler solution 🙂 Thanks so much!! https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/block-yourself-from-analy/fadgflmigmogfionelcpalhohefbnehm?hl=en https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/developer-cookie/lknhpplgahpbindnnocglcjonpahfikn

How to FILTER in Google Analytics an ad campaign from linkedin?
Hi mozzers We are setting up an a linkedin ad campaign for our agency and want to track its traffic and conversions. The linkedin ad will carry UTMs for each link. For tracking this campaign accurately I thought about creating a new GA View with a specific filter. So my question is about the filtering, should i use the INCLUDE, REFERRAL with pattern LINKEDIN.COM (see image)? if not what would be the best way to track this campaign? My other concern is that we are also running other a job ad on linkedin and I feel these hits will be tracked as well. Is there a way to separate those 2 campaigns? Thanks guys! MzE5hqE.png

I was wondering if someone could decode the jumble of a referral - this is supposedly the referal that led to a click through to my site via a product listing ad. I am trying to figure out how www.nextag.com comes in to the picture as we do not have refurbexperts even listed there? How do I add subdomain tracking to an existing Google analytics account that was set up to track website only (without the subdomain option)
I know you can track subdomains by just selecting the proper code when you set up the analytics and then create filters for the data in analytics. But how do you add a subdomain for existing analytics website. Is there a way to go back and change to the option to include subdomains and then I assume just replace the tracking code with the new code that Google delivers for this?

Does a Manual Penalty Affect Other Sites in Same GA Account
Hello Mozzers, I was a bit foolish a couple of years back when first getting into the game, and employed a dodgy agency to do some SEO for me on some sites. Fast forward to this year, and the two sites in my Google Analytics account have been hit with a manual penalty. I decided to ditch the websites and move on, so removed them from my GA account, webmaster tools etc and will simply let them die a death. My question is, do you think this would affect how easy it would be to rank other websites within my GA account? Does anybody have any views on this? Thanks!

Adding Something to htaccess File
When I did a google search for site.kisswedding.com (my website) I noticed that google is indexing all of the https versions of my site. First of all, I don't get it because I don't have an SSL certificate. Then, last night I did what my host (bluehost) told me to do. I added the below to my htaccess file. Below rule because google is indexing https version of site - https://my.bluehost.com/cgi/help/758RewriteEngine OnRewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^kisswedding.com$ [OR]RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^kisswedding.com$RewriteCond %{SERVER_PORT} ^443$RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.kisswedding.com [R=301,L] Tonight I when I did a google search for site:kisswedding.com all of those https pages were being redirected to my home page - not the actually page they're supposed to be redirecting to. I went back to Bluehost and they said and 301 redirect shouldn't work because I don't have an SSL certificate. BUT, I figure since it's sorta working I just need to add something to that htaccess rule to make sure it's redirected to the right page. Someone in the google webmaster tools forums told me to do below but I don't really get it? _"to 301 redirect from /~kisswedd/ to the proper root folder you can put this in the root folder .htaccess file as well:_Redirect 301 /~kisswedd/ http://www.kisswedding.com/" Any help/advice would be HUGELY appreciated. I'm a bit at a loss.

IP address and GA
Our company is based in Noida, and in GA, i can see few visits from New Delhi. Both these cities are nearby. ( In India ) Our hosting is in US. When a visitor comes to site, does visit is based on IP address of the user's system ? Our company has taken hosting from Noida. Does that means that visits from New Delhi are Genuine and NOT from our company ? My apologies, if i am not clear...
