Wordpress Domain Options
-
We'd like to add more content to our ecommerce site so are considering adding a wordpress blog. Which domain option is the best for SEO?
-
Generally domain.com/blog is the best option. Using that structure will help you build the value of domain.com.
-
Cutts will break it down for you.
I always opt for subfolder for the time sensitivity in setup, unless, for usability there needs to be clear separation from the main site and the purpose of the additional site.

Agree with Takeshi

domain.com/blog is probably the best option, since Google often treats subdomains (blog.domain.com) as separate sites. By having your blog in a subdirectory, any link value it accrues will benefit your main site as well.
-
Regardless of whether you choose blog.domain.com or domain.com/blog you should definitely keep your blog on your personal domain. This is where you will have the best opportunity to create new and engaging content on a regular basis.
Ideally, your blog content will be popular on occasion and other people in similar industries will tweet and/or share your link in one way or another. This will gain you backlinks and bring traffic to your domain. Better they point to and land on your domain than wordpress.com.

Marcy,
I would be Leary of the answer if anyone chose one domain over the other. Perhaps they have something to gain by doing so. I believe the best answer to be "Do your homework". You might start by using SeoMoz to find information about each of the domains you chose.
First go to http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/ and check out each of the options you chose. Which has the highest domaine authority? Where are these competing domains going to place your blog? If it is on a "No Follow" page then what good is the blog doing you? Or if your blog is located on a high Domain authority website say 80, but your blog ends up on a page authority of 3 verses on a Domain authority website of 65 but a page authority of 45
Each of the parameters listed on SeoMoz have a high degree of importance to your SE results. Check out each of your blog hosting choices to help you estimate how highly ranked your blog might be.

Help getting a Wordpress.com site to rank
Hi all, I have a blog for my site, but it hasn't been integrated into our site yet (that will happen in the next few months when we do some site changes). For now, it sits on a Wordpress.com site, and links from my website. I post a couple times a week, have social media linked to it, and feed posts to aggregators regularly. I also comment and like other Wordpress.com sites, but it just isn't ranking. Do I just need to stay persistent? It's been up for a month now, but still only getting a few hits a day. Any advice?

How do I properly sitemap a site with static pages + Wordpress in it's own directory?
I apologize for the awkward wording in the headline. No to the issue, I have a site with static pages that are created as follows: url.com, url.com/page1, url.com/page2, etc. I then have WordPress install at url.com/blog. What is the proper method for creating a comprehensive sitemap for my entire domain. I like the sitemap feature provided by Yoast SEO plugin but I assume it will only index the wordpress directory (url.com/blog). Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Blogger & Blogspot Content - Move Across To Own Domain?
Hey, A few new clients have blogs hosted on blogger & blogspot, the first advice of mine is to set up a blog hosted on their company domain. It's usually easy to convince them of the benefits. What should happen to all the content on the existing blog? One blog in question has over 100 entries, good content with a lot of links back to the business domain. The blog itself has less than 10 links pointing in but a domain mozrank 3.5. In this example, my gut is telling me to leave it as is, and start fresh on the own domain. What about if there's less then 10 posts? At what point should the content be moved over to the new blog? Thanks for your thoughts.

Meta Title and Description Placement in Wordpress
I noticed in wordpress code that the <title>and <description> are not at the top of the code and rather located a ways down the code and not displayed how previous sites used to be.</p> <p>Does this still matter for SEO.</p> <p>I thought it should have been,</p> <div id="syn_row5" class="SYN_TXT"><span class="HTML_TXT"><span class="HTML_TAG"><<span class="HTML_ELM">title</span>></span><span class="HTML_TAG"></<span class="HTML_ELM">title</span>></span></span></div> <div class="SYN_ROW"> <div id="syn_row6" class="SYN_TXT"><span class="HTML_TXT"><span class="HTML_TAG"><<span class="HTML_ELM">meta</span> <span class="HTML_ATR">name</span>=<span class="HTML_VAL">"Description"</span> <span class="HTML_ATR">content</span>=<span class="HTML_VAL">""</span> /></span></span></div> <div class="SYN_TXT"><span class="HTML_TXT"><span class="HTML_TAG"> <div id="syn_row6" class="SYN_TXT"><span class="HTML_TXT"><span class="HTML_TAG"><<span class="HTML_ELM">meta</span> <span class="HTML_ATR">name</span>=<span class="HTML_VAL">"Keywords"</span> <span class="HTML_ATR">content</span>=<span class="HTML_VAL">""</span> /> (if still needed ?)</span></span></div> <div class="SYN_TXT"><span class="HTML_TXT"><span class="HTML_TAG"><span class="HTML_TXT"><span class="HTML_TAG"> </span></span></span></span></div> <div class="SYN_TXT"><span class="HTML_TXT"><span class="HTML_TAG"><span class="HTML_TXT"><span class="HTML_TAG"><span class="HTML_TXT"><span class="HTML_TAG">Is there a way to do this in Wordpress? Fixing Wordpress URLs
I just redid our blog and I am using permalinks. I have the custom structure set to /%year%/%postname%/ and catagory - blank. When I run the XENU Link Slueth, it shows all my blog urls as broken, but the links work fine. However the url structure is www.example.com/2010/10/20/ and so on. I am worried about duplicate content too. Do you know how I can fix the url structure so only 1 or 2 urls are used?

What are the best reasons not to use Wordpress as a CMS?
I'm a big fan of Wordpress (.org) as a content management system. However, I recognize that Wordpress isn't necessarily the best CMS for all ocassions. For those of you who don't like Wordpress, I'm interested in understanding your strongest reasons against. So, why not Wordpress?
