AdWords *free* vouchers hurt SEO?
-
Maybe it was the penguin, or maybe it was Panda, but around about the time of the three updates close together and the rumoured 'parked domain' update that went wrong, I used a free adwords voucher.
The site in question used to rank for practically every search term relevant to the niche.
Now, I can search back to 60 pages in Google results and nothing.
Now, I know its not been de-indexed, it still there when I search for info:TheDomainInQuestion.co.uk
It also has 6 site links when searching for the url alone.
Each and every page is hand written original content built up over many years and also edited and updated regularly.
On linkdetective, I have a very nice rainbow type graph regarding the type of links and also a very very good spread of anchors. 118 different phrases pointing in and aside from one site that linked to me sitewide (16000+ but since removed and now down to 3300 and dropping almost daily).
Even with that, the highest percentage of anchor text was 20%.
Basically, gone through practically everything that is available on the web about combating penguin and panda, yet the site kept dropping and has disappeared completely for keyword phrases.
Might sound a bit paranoid, but could Google have done this on purpose to try to make me carry on with adwords?

Interesting, have you checked out there backlink profile?
Can you find any others?

Google.co.uk - Search term: car insurance
2nd side AdWord - Churchill.com/car-insurance
Organic #2 - Churchill.com/car-insurance3rd side adword - CompareTheMarket.com/car-insurance
5th Organic - As above
WhadDoIWin WadDoIWin!
Having found that though, there are ALOT of companies on ADWORDS that used to be in the top 10 in organic.

"Might sound a bit paranoid, but could Google have done this on purpose to try to make me carry on with adwords?"
Shall we do some research in the name of paranoia.....let's see if anyone can find any high ranking organic sites, that also have adwords ads. Who's up for it? -
Hi Jon,
If you want to use Google+ for your company, you first have to make a normal personal account (with or without a picture of your face, I just left mine blank) before you can make a business page.
Once your personal account is set-up you can create a business page (under Pages), which you can customize fully for your company (company logo etc.) Doing this won't get you penalized at all.
Best of luck.

So I'm paranoid
Just noticed in Google+ t&c's that you HAVE to use a picture of your face. I've used the company logo. Do you reckon they could penalise for that to such an extent?
EDIT: Going to change anyway to see if anything happens.

Google vocally has a pretty strict policy about not mixing AdWords with organic results. I doubt what you suggested is the case, else G could be in some serious trouble with the FTC.

Approximate costs of keywords in Google AdWords
Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions about how to go about getting some approximate costs for keywords through Google Adwords to assist my SEO efforts. I don't want to open an AdWords account, just looking for costs. If the pricing is too high then the opened account was a waste of time. So if anyone has any resources to find out this information, that would be great! Thanks in advance!

Setting a total monthly spend limit for the Adwords account
Hi, I manage a number of campaigns and even though I keep an eye on daily budget based on our monthly budget, I freak out thinking we would waste a lot more money accidentally. Is there a way how I can set a cap for the whole Adwords account so I will not go over, even if I leave daily campaign budgets on crazy amounts? Thanks. Regards, Katarina

Why you should never use Google Adwords To Conduct Key Word Research
Buongiorno from 22 degrees C too damn humid Wetherby UK, The other day a client wanted to know how much a ppc campaign would cost with a specific bank of keywords. So off i went and loaded in the key words and set the ads thinking it was not live.... A week later i get a tap on the shoulder asking why weve been invoiced for £xxxx oh dio mio!! The damn campaign went to live. So ive got two questions: 1. Do Google adwords automatically go to Live once youve loaded up phrases and ads, i really thought it would have made it more obvious, A " Would you like your campaign to go live" prompt would have been appreciated. 2. As a safety measure is configuring a Google Alert in Analytics to ping when paid traffic is picked up not a bad idea just so ive got a warning sytem set up so to speak. Grazie tanto,

What are the strongest and most-Google friendly directories to place my business on for the sake of large SEO gains? for the sake of Exposure to customers? What is the best way to invest for ROI nowadays? Thanks.
I do basic SEO stuff as well as marketing for quite a few clients. But, I am wondering which directories or exposure based groups are worth the money? Is a business.com directory listing for $300 a solid investment to get a strong link? Is yext a good move? How about wildfire? I could use some really high DA links to stack on top of the link profiles I have already built through content, etc.? Please advise me. PS Confession: I was once a pre-panda Fiverr link junkie. But I am in recovery. I have an 18 month chip and am currently making amends. 12 steps to SEO freedom baby.

A question for Google Adwords experts
Hi Google Adwords experts, We own the trademarks to some keywords. When you search for these keywords, only our ads will ever appear but they don't appear every time a search is made. They're hardly ever appearing now that we've dropped our bid from $1+ to the minimum first page bid (1 cent in some cases). My question is; are the ads showing less because our bid has dropped so low? If so, why is this? If we own the trademark to the keyword and no one else can display ads, any bid that we submit should be accepted by Google, shouldn't it? If you can include a link to any articles that will give me more info, i'll vote for your answer. Thanks!
