Source? Google says having an author photo increases CTR by 15% on average.

I was listening to an interview with Rand Fishkin on the Eventual Millionaire: http://eventualmillionaire.com/rand-fishkin/
Rand said that Google says that having an author photo increases click through rate by 15% on average.
I am trying to find the original source of this information. Has anyone know the source of this stat?

Awesome. Thanks so much for the help Rand and Lesley.

The only citation I could find in my searching is from Web Marketing Today.
"Conventional marketing wisdom is that anything that can make your search-result listing stand out and draw the eye will probably be beneficial to your click through rate — the “CTR.” Past statistics from the search engines have indicated that special listing treatments like this increase CTR by 15 percent on average. I suspect the increase could be greater than that, depending upon the search keyword and type of business."

But I would take 15% as a relative number, that is pretty meaningless. Let me share some of my experience, I am a moderator of an e-commerce forum that is mainly male developers. We have around a half a million or so members with the demographic largely being male. One thing I have noticed is users with a female avatar get more help, a lot more help. The picture you use matters just as much as adding a picture is what I am saying. There are actually a few good articles on it, here is a link to one that mentions it. http://justinbriggs.org/how-does-google-authorship-impact-ctr
Admittedly, with my name being Lesley, I have thought about changing my picture to a good looking woman to see if it would increase my click through rate.

Hi Project Labs! Glad you liked the interview. There are a few sources, but http://searchengineland.com/is-google-authorship-affecting-rankings-today-168230 is one of the best (note the 15% average across the sites). Unfortunately, I can't seem to find the reference to Google's formal statement, but I believe it was also via a SELand post (or possibly from an SMX conference stage discussion).

Can't find Text-Only Cached version in Google search
Hi, I'm trying to view the text-only of a webpage to run a SEO audit, however Google does not give me this option. When i click the two arrows that appear to the right of a search result, the only option I get is Cached. Is there a reason this might be happening? I've tried clearing my cookies, signing out of Google, and anything else I could find on my troll of the internet. I also tried text, only please! however whether this works or not is debatable considering it shows me actual pictures on the site. Any ideas, or maybe another add-on that will work?

Did anyone Rankings drop massively last weekend ...Is this new google update ?
Hi all, My Site rankings took a battering in the past week , From what I have read, I know that google have updated their algorithm and supposedly it only affects less than 1% of queries but I was very surprised to have fallen in that list... Just wondered, am i the only site to have been hammered this past week ? or is it more of a case that maybe the new algorithm means I need to be more savvy with our SEO. Just posting a quick general consensus question ... thanks Sarah

Confirmation regarding canonical and syndication google tags
Hi, We are in the process of improving our CMS upstream to resolve our duplicate content issues. We were hit pretty hard by the Panda update. One of the steps we have taken is implementation of the canonical link tag across all domains in our site. You see, we are a news release service with muliple channels and websites to represent each. The problem is that a client will submit a release and in many cases the news item is relevant to multiple channels I.E. multiple websites under the same IP range. Site Examples:

www.hotelnewsresource.com www.restaurantnewsresource.com
www.travelindustrywire.com From a user perspective, it makes sense that they should be able to access the article from the site they are browsing without being redirected to the site we feel carries the most relevance. We hope the canconical tag will resolve this issue for us. I have also read about the syndication tag and was looking for feedback or recommendations if we should implement that also, but it may be overkill as the two tags objectives seem to be similar. I guess my first question is if the syndication tag is only used by Google News. Secondly, and a little off topic is that we also offer an API and like many other sites, I have read, our content partners are now doing better in primary and long tail rankings even thought we are the original source. My assumption is that we should modify the API to force using both caconical and syndication tags as well. Lastly, I´m curious if anyone has tested the original source tag and if we should implement that as well. Thanks everyone. Jarrett0
