Google analytics vs Webmaster tools data

Which is more accurate WT or GA data ?
Since GA reporting a KW (thats very recently fallen from page 1 to 3 hence looking into data to find the cause) in the Organic part of Search tab as having generated just 1 visitor over a month (hence presuming fall could be due to low visits from a page 1 result) whilst under Search Engine Optimisation tab (data sourced from WT i think) its reporting 5 click thrus from 150 impressions over same period resulting in a quite good 3.33% CTR (hence wouldn't expect to be the cause of a fall) and what i would have thought GA would report as 5 visits instead of the 1 they do report !?
The reason im looking for answer in the data is because no on-page has changed and still scoring a grade A and off page metrics have all improved across the board (apart from small drop in majseo's Trust Flow) such as increased links, RD, Citation Flow, Ref Subnets etc etc etc

Sorry if this is obvious but im just checking:
In the search engine optimisation tab of google analytics i take it that the queries and other info are solely in regard to organic search ?
Im sure thats so but just double checking ??

Unfortunately, I don't think you are able to do that.
I found this link that it might help you a little bit more. See under "Discrepancies in Clicks and Visits":

It's not specifically about Webmaster Tools but it can help you understand this miscorrelation even deeper. I've never been able to equal these numbers but I did manage to reduce the discrepancies to the minimum.

Do you know if its possible to look at the instances of the click thrus in GA search engine optimisation tab ? for me it doesnt let me select the keyword to see a line graph of instances, if i could see it then i would be able to correlate the click thrus with the day of the one visit hopefully and hence conclude that the 5 clicks refer to the one visit.

From my experience this is probably the case. I saw this miscorrelation a few times but never differing in very high numbers. Also, it could be the case that your GA tracking code is not inside your tag. Is that possible?
I had several clients that were placing the tracking code at the end of the tag. They've all missed visitors that click quickly through pages on their site before the Google Analytics tracking code executes.

So are you saying that 5 click thrus being reported by webmaster tools is most likely to be just the one visit ? since GA is showing only 1 visit

Hi Dan!
Google Analytics tracks visitors using cookies, not IP addresses. This way, if an impression of your site is clicked more than once in one session (less than 30 minutes) by the same user, it will still count as one visitor for GA.

Hi guys, I'm looking to use google analytics google sheets extension to pull data into a google sheet with metrics from other tools e.g. semrush, moz, etc. From my understanding with google analytics google sheet extension its designed to run reports and doesn't really allow you to add other metrics. Google Analytics - Events impacting session data
Hi Mozzers, Has anybody ever experienced event tracking significantly impacting session data? Here's a summary of what I'm finding: When I measure sessions to a particular hostname (a subdomain) in my Google Analytics report, sessions dropped by over 100% when I removed some event tracking on that subdomain (an event was triggered when a user clicked on a particular button). When I reinstate that event tracking, sessions go back up to around where they used to be. Can anybody understand why this might be happening? Thanks!

Google Analytics global page empty
Hello, I don't know what happened with my Google Analytics initial page. For around a week I have there all my websites, but they show no results on global page. Whats the difference between Trackbacks & Network referrals within Google analytics social media reporting? I'd like to specifically understand why a link to site i'm working on withing this post:

Google Analytics shows wrong traffic source
I was reviewing out traffic sources on GA for this past week's traffic history, and noticed a couple of visits & conversions that GA cited as coming from campaigns from emails that were sent out in 2012 and early 2013. it seems odd that we would have traffic & conversions from these older campaigns - on a regular basis. it's not even from one campaign, but from multiple campaigns. is it possible that it is a cookie issue? - i wonder if these visits were really from the email campaigns - or if they were from organic searches or other sources. Thoughts? Thanks!

Google Analytics subdomain ecommerce tracking flatlines :-(
Buongiorno from 19 degrees C wetherby UK 🙂 This website http://www.philpotts.co.uk/ contains a shop sub domian @ http://shop.philpotts.co.uk/. I configured the site Ga analytics code to include the subdomain (see below code). I had to do this as i was getting refferal data from the actuall subdomain. But after following the instructions on p117 of cutroni's ga book things have gone wrong, mainly now eCommerce data has dissapeared 😞 So my question is please: "Why has installing the GA code above caused eCommerce tracking to suddenly go dead?" Google Analytics - April Search Report Data Gone For All Clients - Anyone Else Seeing This?
Hey everyone, In the last hour I was doing some SEO referral reportingin Google Analytics and discovered that my April data was completely gone (flat lined to zero). Specifically, if i select a date range for any point in april and select search from the advanced segments area I am seeing this issue. This is happening for ALL of my active clients... anyone else seeing this?

Google Analytics: how many visits from country Google domains?
Hello, I manage a site with visitors from many different countries. With Google Analytics, it is normal to see the number of visitors from each search engine. However, I would like to identify the number of visitors from each Google-search contry domain. How many visitors from Google.com? How many from Google.co.uk. And from Google.co.zm? And so on. Anybody knows if this is possible and if yes, how can it be done? Thank you in advance, Dario
