Are my Domain URLs correctly set up?
-
Hi Im struggling with this probably easy concept, so I am sure one of you guys out there can answer it fairly easy!
My website is over50choices.co.uk and whilst using the free tools in Majestic it said that I had:
77 Referring Domains pointing to www.over50choices.co.uk and only 35 pointing to www.over50choices.co.uk/
And in Moz it said:
The URL you've entered redirects to another URL. We're showing results for www.over50choices.co.uk/ since it is likely to have more accurate link metrics. See data for over50choices.co.uk instead?
Does this mean that my domains arent set up correctly and are acting as separate domains - should one be pointing to the other?
Your help appreciated.

That is a debatable question. In my opinion, I seriously doubt Google would have a problem figuring out that this is the same page. I don't think it would cause you to lose any pagerank.
However, if you just put a rel canonical tag on that page it should take care of it without even needing to worry about the redirect.

Meant to ask, so as it stands or even if i redirect as suggested, i am not losing any google juice having some back links pointing to to the trailing / or non trailing version?

Thanks Everett that's made it v clear.

Here is how you have it set up now:
http://www.over50choices.co.uk/ (200 but browser removes trailing slash)
http://www.over50choices.co.uk (200 and should be your canonical URL.)
http://over50choices.co.uk/ (301 redirects to http://www.over50choices.co.uk/ )
http://over50choices.co.uk (301 redirects to http://www.over50choices.co.uk/ )You should be fine, but if you wanted to change something I'd make the redirect from the non-www. version go to the version of www. without the trailing slash (i.e. http://www.over50choices.co.uk ) instead of http://www.over50choices.co.uk/.
You must have just entered over50choices.co.uk into the Moz tool without www., which is why it is letting you know that the tool decided to show for www. instead - though you have the option to force it to look at non-www if you want.
I wouldn't worry too much about it, other than choosing between www. with or without trailing slash.

Ash.
Sounds to me that your not considering the default webpage as a source for links.
If in the server system you set up your default webpage as Home.htm, and the server will sometimes use a list of default webpage to try and look for as the default starting page. But installed as a web store you are using a website for instance written in ASP and that website software has a web.cfg file the web.cfg file will set a new default home page for instance Default.aspx
SO basically there are two different qualified pages that will start your web store but different names.
You could just type toe 2 different names in a browser to see what webpages are being used as the default, then 301 redirect the lowest result to the larger.

Set Up htaccess File
Looking for expert help (willing to pay) to set up a proper htaccess file. I'm having an issue as the site has a subdomain at secure.domain.com and has php extensions there. I tried a couple recommended code sets but it seems to be a mess. The site is working properly but this may be causing rankings issues. It's coded in pure HTML and PHP, no Wordpress stuff.

Exclude URL Parameters?
Hello, I am new in SEO and I am trying to understand the basics in URL parameters. Let’s assume that I have an ecommerce site with Categories (Category1, Category2) Views (listview=1, listview=2) Orders (OrderBy=1, OrderBy=2) Pages (pg=1, pg=2) Why should I add google to index pages with different views and Listing orders? What is the benefit for the site to have the same content with different order? I am not sure but maybe only need pages in order to google to “travel” between the pages? For example: www.mydomain.com/books/pg=1 www.mydomain.com/books/?order=date www.mydomain.com/books/?listview =1 The products in pages (pg) will always include products in order and listview? Why should google index again the content? Furthermore, from the last time that google index the pg=1 the products has changed. Thank you in advanced

Redirect non www. domain to WWW. domain for established website?
Hey guys, The website in question has been online for more than 5 years but there are still 2 versions of the website. Both versions are indexed by Google and of course, this will result in duplicate content. Is it necessary to redirect the non-www domain to the www. domain. What are the cons and advantages? Will the www. links replace the non-www links when it comes to keyword rankings? Thanks.

Umlaut in domain
Hi, My client wants to expand it's business to Germany and logically we need a domain name to match. We've found a great one and regsiterd several variants to it. However I just found out that in Germany it is possible (while here it's not) to register a domain with an umlaut. My question is: will google assign more value to: schädlinge.de than schadlinge.de when users search for schädlinge? If yes, how large will the difference be? (I will use an umlaut in the title etc) Kind regards,

Is 301 redirecting all old URLS after a new site redesign to the root domain bad for SEO?
After a new site redesign ...would it hinder our rankings if we 301 redirected all old URLS that are returning 404 error codes to the root domain (home page) ? Would this be a good temporary solution until we are able to redirect the pages to the appropriate corresponding page? Thanks so much!

Hi, If I want to serve a subset of pages on my mobile set from my desktop site or the content is significantly different, i.e. it is not one to one or pages are a summarised version of the desktop, should I use m.site.com or is it still better to use site.com? Many thanks any help appreciated.
