Domain authority for a new site
-
Hi we a starting a new web which will be optimised for key words. What can we expect in terms of Domain authority when it comes to starting a brand new website? We will be devoting quite a significant amount of money in our AdWords campaign budget to promote the site and the products.
-
Hardley 111, NAP stands for name, address, phone number
-
Hi Sangeeta,
Thanks for the the answer can you explain what NAP refers to?
Thanks,
Pete
-
Hi Keri,
thank you for bringing that to my attention. I hope I have cleaned it up enough to be more helpful.
All the best,
Thomas
PS
I think Sangeeta means getlisted.org
Sangeeta,
please correct me if I'm wrong.

Thomas, I think part of your answer got cut off or repeated. Could you review what you wrote and edit it a bit to make it more understandable? Thanks!

Does your website have a blog? If yes, you can start posting good and interesting content. Use an email list and social media to network it and get some links. Gradually DA and PA will increase. Additionally, add you business to local listing sites especially those mentioned on listed.org. Make sure the NAP is consistent. That should get you some authority.

Here is a link discussing domain authority.
http://moz.com/learn/seo/domain-authority
I would also recommend reading John Doherty's post on domain authority/domain trust
http://www.johnfdoherty.com/four-factors-domain-trust/
this is an extremely hard question to answer. I would say you will start out with 0 domain authority or 1 and a your site will change determined by how much quality content and semantic data a.k.a. relevant content links everything that matters to Google will matter to you. Please look at the learning section
In the 4 factor post from John he goes over these 4 factors.
Domain Age
Link Diversity
high-quality Relevant inbound links.
internal linking.
just spending money on a AdWords campaign will have no bearing on your domain authority
have no bearing on your domain authority. You can have a high quality score if you follow the advice given by Google and companies like word stream.
However it sounds like you're talking about domain authority which really is more based on inbound links, social scores, age of the domain Age, relevancy of links, internal linking. and Will not be affected by spending money on a Google ad words campaign.
I hope this helps,
Thomas

Unsolved Feature to add to my site to give people a domain score for their own site
Looking to add a feature on my website to invite people to submit their domain to get an SEO score (and a report). How do I do that? I think it involves the Moz API but not sure.

Page Authority 2.0 is coming soon!
UPDATE: We’ve made the tough decision to delay the launch of Page Authority 2.0 as our team investigates an unforeseen issue. **To learn more about the rigorous testing process and updates to the timeline, **check out this blog post. Hey there Moz family, We’re stoked to let you know about an upcoming change to a beloved metric — similar to our refresh of the Domain Authority algorithm last year, we’ve been working on developing an improvement to its sibling metric, Page Authority (also known as “PA”). Page Authority (PA) identifies the strength of a particular page (on a 1-100 scale) and its ability to rank in search results in comparison to other pages. PA is a Moz metric, and while it can be used as a good gauge of page strength and ranking potential, it is not used by search engines to determine ranking outcome. On September 30, 2020, we will release the new and improved Page Authority algorithm that will be updated in a similar fashion to last year’s update to DA. The updated algorithm will take into account more modern ranking factors to make the score even more accurate and predictive. We recognize that the update to the DA algorithm took time to communicate to clients and stakeholders, and we wanted to be sure to give you advance notice again this time around. We’ve created a number of resources to help you understand the what, the why, and the how of this update to PA. Let’s start with a few FAQs that you might be curious about! Why didn’t PA update when DA updated? Although many folks associate DA and PA with one another, the two metrics are calculated independently. We chose to update the two metrics separately in order to take the care that each metric deserved, and to provide the highest quality algorithm updates for the SEO community. Why is Moz changing the PA algorithm? As with our update to the DA algorithm, we want to ensure that you have confidence in our metrics and the predictions that they provide. Data integrity is an integral part of our tools and something that we hold in the highest regard. To be sure that PA can best reflect the potential for a page to rank on the SERP, we’re making the necessary improvements. What can I expect to see from the PA algorithm update? Many pages will see changes to their PA scores as a result of this algorithm update. While the changes to scores may be somewhat minimal, there is a possibility that some pages will see material change to their scores. The new PA algorithm takes into consideration Spam Score and link patterns, in addition to dozens of other factors, so your PA scores may see noticeable change if your pages have spammy or unnatural link patterns. How can I prepare for the update? As with any change to a metric that you know and love, we recommend getting in touch with your stakeholders to let them know of the upcoming update. For those who are used to seeing this metric in your SEO reports, giving them a heads-up will help them to prepare for any fluctuations they might see to PA scores once the new PA algorithm rolls out. We also recommend using this update as an opportunity to educate them on the use of Page Authority and how you might use this refreshed metric for future link building projects. Our resource center has a few helpful pieces of collateral that can support these conversations with stakeholders and clients. Is Page Authority an absolute score or a relative one? Page Authority should always be used as a relative metric, to compare the score of your pages to the scores of other sites’ pages. Link Explorer looks at over 7 trillion pages and 40 trillion links to inform the Page Authority metric that you see. As such, it is always a wise idea to use PA as a comparative score to understand where your page stacks up in comparison to the other pages that are present on the SERPs you care about. Will Domain Authority (DA) be impacted by this update? No, DA will not be affected by this update. This particular algorithm update is specific to Page Authority only. Will API users be affected at the same time? Yes, API users will see the update to Page Authority at the same time as users of Moz Pro. We’d love for you to check out our resource page for links to a slide deck, a whitepaper, and other helpful information. The full announcement blog post from Russ Jones can be found here. Happy to chat with you here in the Q&A thread, or feel free to send an email to help@moz.com with any questions. Best, Igor

Get discovered and lost linking domains separately
Hello, We want to get "discovered and lost links" using api.
API | | OlegKireyenka
You do not have discovered and lost metrics available via the Links API and we call api for backlinks and then cross reference this with the links found the last time, we are able to get only NET links, but we want to get "just discovered and lost links" separately.
for example: inbound links for 27 July is 600, inbound links for 30 July is 750, okay, NET links from 27 July to 30 July = 750-600=150. And in this case "discovered and lost links" maybe: 400 and -250, 300 and -150, 150 and 0, and etc. Maybe I can not understand something, give example please. Thank!0 -
New to the SEO world
Hello, I am new to the SEO world though I realize it's importance when trying to make your site noticed. I am working with a shopping cart (Pinnacle Cart) and It has the fields to put in the data such as the meta tags, description keywords and whatnot. My problem is that I do not know how to use MOZ to strategize what keywords to use and how to populate them to the Google search engine. That said, someone told me that Descriptions for Section pages are far more important than keywords. Can anyone help or give me some insight on how to start this process? Once I have it all running, about how long will it take to propagate through Google? Thanks!

Why did my Domain Authority drop all the way to 1
The Domain Authority on my sites has dropped all the way down to 1. This seems to have happened recently, although i'm not sure when or what the ranking used to be. Could this have anything to do with the "catastrophic failure of the hard disk" on 1/8/2016? https://community.uservoice.com

Can i export data from my current account to a new account?
Situation:
API | | Zanox
I want to create a new account, but i don't want to lose data from my current account. Is there any possibility for exporting my data (to an excel document or something) that i can import in my new account later? If there is an option to export data directly to my new account that would be nice.. Kind Regards.0
