Can I have an http AND a https site on Google Webmaster tools
-
My website is https but the default property that was configured on Google WMT was http and wasn't showing me any information because of that.
I added an https property for that, but my question is: do I need to delete the original HTTP or can I leave both websites?
-
It probably doesn't matter much if you have a sitemap submitted for http, although you can delete it if you want.
is it the SAME sitemap as for the https site? And are your metrics coming in the same?
There is no advantage other than if you need to look at any data specific to http.
-
There is no harm in having both setup. It's up to you, you can leave http, delete it, register it again later - etc.
-
So I shouldn't have sitemaps submitted to both versions? If I want to use HTTPS as my main version, should I delete the sitemap from the other?
Is there an advantage to keeping a site vs deleting it?

Hi Onboard,
Google Webmaster Tools is mostly for monitoring your site and if you don't provide Google with any additional as sitemaps. So it won't matter if you submit both your http as https site.

Using http: shorthand inside canonical tag ("//" instead of "http:") can cause harm?
HI, I am planning to launch a new site, and shortly after to move to HTTPS. to save the need to change over 5,000 canonical tags in pages the webmaster suggested we implement inside the rel canonical "//" instead of the absolute path, would that do any damage or be a problem? oranges-south-dakota" />

Meta keywords shown in Google SERPS as site description
I'm seeing Google display meta-keywords in the SERP description for some sites (at least a half dozen that I've checked). I BELIEVE IT IS AN AJAX ISSUE BECAUSE: The sites all use AJAX to display content. So the meta-keywords are in the header, and the javascript that displays the content. Non-AJAX parts of the site display properly in Google SERPS The meta-keywords don't visibly appear anywhere on the page. When I turn off images and Javascript in Chrome I don't see any hidden keyword text. I BELIEVE IT IS A GOOGLE-SPECIFIC ISSUE BECAUSE: Each site displays properly in Bing and Yahoo SERPS - the meta-description is the description. However, (as expected) I see the same strange meta-keyword activity in Aol search In Screaming Frog's SERP preview I see the meta-description as the description. Google has been ignoring met-keywords for years. Any idea why it's appearing in the SERPS for these AJAX powered sites? I found one other person who saw that Google may be reading and displaying their content in AJAX even though that content is meant to appear on a different "page". No one on that Google Forum seemed to understand the person's problem. The only reason I get it is because now I'm seeing it with my own eyes. I know the Moz community can do better, so i'm posting about it here.

Remove Directory In Webmaster Tools
Hey Moz'erz, I'm removing some URLS from the index and want to confirm the use of the "remove directory" request. If my structure is this: /blogs/customer-success-stories/tagged/ --- all pages that are /tagged/abc, /tagged/dce etc. will be removed correct? First time trying a directory removal as their are 100 plus of these tagged pages. Comments, suggestions and past experiences welcome!

Difference between SEOMOZ and Webmaster Tools information
Hello, There is an issue that confuses me and I thought perhaps you will be able to help me shed some light on it. I have a website which shows 2,549 crawled pages on SEOMOZ and 24,542 pages on webmaster tools! Obviously there is some technical issue with the site, but my question is: why the vast difference between what the SEOMOZ crawl report and webmaster tools report show? Thanks! Guy Cizner

Bing Webmaster tool
Hi Fellas, I wanted to know once you verify the BIng Webmaster tool (via xml file) for a dev site, do you have to do the verification process again for the final site? I thought I needed to do the verification again but once I added the final website (which have almost a similar URL) into the webmaster tool account, it seemed that I didn't have to verify it. I am a bit confused. Thank you for clarifying
