Keyword Difficulty Tool not working!
-
Hello everyone,
I quite new to the pro service and I am still on my free trial and I have to say that it is perfect! However, I haven't been able to use the keyword difficulty tool for a couple of days as it keeps saying that there is a problem and that I should try again in 20 minutes. I tried several times and 9 out of 10 times I get this message. I have only managed to get a couple of keywords analyzed. Keep in mind that most of the times I am not using English terms but since it worked in the past I would think that this is not the problem.
Any thoughts on how to fix this issue?
Thanks in advance!

Hey Sean,
Thanks for writing in and sorry that you are running into some issues with the Keyword Difficulty tool. Unfortunately, Google has changed the way that they present rankings information, so we have had to make some changes to our collection in order to keep up with these changes, I'm afraid that this has caused some issues with providing the real time data for the Keyword Difficulty tool and the tool is currently unresponsive. At this time, unfortunately, we do not have an ETA for when that tool will be up and running again, but we are hopeful to have the issue resolved by the end of the week. I thank you for your patience while we work to resolve this issue.
I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Evidently not working again as out of 30 queries I have only had it working 3 times which is highly frustrating considering it is (potentially) one of the most useful tools on SEOMoz and really the only reason that I signed up for a Pro account. Any ideas when it will be working again?

Hi Sarah,
You should have heard back from the help desk now. It looks like a response may have gone to your junk filter. Let me know if you haven't heard back yet.

Hi everyone,
Just a quick note to let you know the keyword difficulty tool is working again. Thanks for your patience!

Hi Sarah,
Mind sending me a PM with your info? Did you email help@seomoz.org, or a different email? If you emailed help, there should have been an automated response with a ticket number. If you give me that in a PM I'll track down what happened. We usually respond in a day or two.

My rank tracker is not working either. I have sent emails to tech support with no response. It hasn't worked in over a week.
-
Still not working. I will wait for the official response.
-
Thanks Keri, it is working correctly for me as of 5 minutes ago.

The tool is down still right now. We're still figuring out ways to get this working right now. We don't have an estimated time for it to be fixed, but will keep Q&A and Twitter updated when we know more information.
-
Yep, same issue here. I rely on it so would be great if it could be looked into.
-
Tool is not working at all. Must see this data to finish work.
-
Hi Paularu,
There is a thread from a previous time we had an outage, and someone has added to that thread for this outage, but the keyword difficulty tool has not been down that entire time. It's been down just a couple of days, and while it is a holiday weekend in the US, we do have employees working on getting it fixed as we speak. We'll keep the SEOmoz twitter feed updated as we have more information about the status.
-
Not working here also
"Uh oh... there was a temporary problem gathering Analysis data for your request. Sorry about that! We're actively looking into resolving these intermittent issues, but in the meantime, try submitting your request again in 20 minutes. Thank you!"
and I searched this "forums" and I see this has been happening for months now ...
-
Oh ok sorry then for my previous response. I get what you mean now, and of course you're right!
-
If not working at all due to being popular and therefore sometimes overloaded with requests, then if it gives the same results for the same queries among different users, common keyword queries could be aggregated into a database (updated as often as the keywords themselves (monthly?) ), for the keyword tool to bypass to for those particular queries, freeing it up for other less regular queries.
-
I am not sure that I understand exactly what you mean my friend but I am quite sure that it is off topic. We are talking about the tool not working at all. Not it working differently depending on the user's details.
-
Sometimes it doesn't work for me either.
Do the exact same keyword queries generate the same results for different users? For example if the result for Yahoo US on "Mountain Bike" is the same for one SEOmoz user as it is for another. Could a system that detects keywords used over a certain amount put them in automatically at the next update then store on database that the actual keyword tracker tool bypasses to for those words, while actually working only on other less common words.
Although I do keep a record of relevant ones, I admit occasionally if I have a list of 100 or so I can forget or not find one I may or may not have done earlier and do it twice. For shame!
-
I have excatly the same problem. Had it for a few days.
Just tried it 5 min ago, same result.
Its a great tool so would love to have it fixed
Thanks
Fredrik

Hi! I've had the day off as a holiday today, but I know that there are some issues with the tool and that we are working on them. Could you open a ticket at our help desk at http://www.seomoz.org/help? That way we can notify you when things are fixed. Thanks so much for your patience, and I'm glad you're otherwise enjoying SEOmoz.

Unsolved How to find keywords your competitors rank for but you don't?
Hi, I'm just digging through Moz pro at the moment, and really like the true competitor feature, but would like to be able to see the keywords our competitors rank for and we don't, rather than just the overlapping ones. Is this possible at all? Thanks

MoZ vs SEMRush - Keyword Difficulty and Keyword With Low Competition.
Hi, My question is very focussed regarding these 2 tools. Is it correct to understand that MoZ tells keyword difficulty and not which keyword is easy to compete. And SEMRush tells which keyword is easy to compete but does not tell which keywords are difficult to compete? I mean one (Moz) misses the one part and the other (SEMRush) misses the other part. Hope some will enlighten me to the point. Best

Keyword rankings and main company tagline not matching
I have a question about keywords rankings and on page keywords. I don't rank very well for the keyword "Nutcracker". But, my tag line is "Your one stop Nutcracker and Ballet Gifts source". One of my most important keywords is "Nutcrackers" (see the s 😉 ) and I hot hit really hard in my rankings with the google algorithm update. Almost a 30 position difference from one day to the next. Am I shooting myself in the foot by having Nutcracker being in the forefront, even though my chances of ranking for that are very low as there is high competition with more actual "The Nutcracker" related content. I do have the word "nutcrackers" on my home page...but all of a sudden I feel like i'm wasting space, or I should have made the tagline "Your one stop Nutcrackers and Ballet Gifts source". It just doesn't sound as good. I just recently dove headfirst into SEO and moz, so I consider myself a noob, but I learn quite quickly. Thank you for your help! Ranking keyword ecommerce product
Hi guys, I run an ecommerce store footdistrict.com. We sell sneakers. My question relates to the name of some of my products and how to rank for them. This concerns to the shoes from New Balance The name of this products follows this format: New Balance XXNumberXXX . But actually I have realized I am ranking for New Balance XXNumber XXX . Note the space between the number and the last 3 characters. All my titles, h1, keywords follow this format. Example: New Balance WL574 RUP vs New Balance WL574RUP My questions are: 1. How would you determine which keyword to rank for: New Balance XXNumberXXX or New Balance XXNumber XXX? I have thought of using analytics data to see the pattern of the users search or maybe the difficulty of the keyword? I am receiving a decent amount of traffic for New Balance XXNumber XXX but I wonder if it'd be higher ranking for New Balance XXNumberXXX 2. Does the algorithmn take into account this space? According to the On page Grader, I have an A for New Balance XXNumber XXX and a F for New Balance XXNumber XXX but I assume the engine doesn't work this way 3. What would you do? Thanks very much Kind regards

Keyword Stuffing - MOZ On-Page Grader
We sell a great number of insulation products, many of which are produced by individual manufacturers. On the page identified below the Keyword "Kingspan" is repeated numerous times as these items are included in our online shop. However, the many mentions of Kingspan are recorded in the HTML5 Source Code, rather than an external database. When I used the MOZ On-Page Grader, using the keywords "Kingspan" I was surprised to achieve an "A" Grade! I know I shouldn't be complaining, but I am wondering why the significant repetition of the word "Kingspan" has not negatively impacted my score? http://www.just-insulation.com/001-eshop/buy-kingspan-thermapitch-thermawall-thermafloor-insulation-boards.html

Keyword Difficulty Tool on local results. Is this really working?
I've tried the Keyword Difficulty Tool on "consultant seo" in Romania (that is .ro) The tool says that it's Highly Competitive (59%), but I've got my website on #8 in 2 weeks. Question: Is this tool really working for local results? It seems way off... Actually I was kind of expecting for this keyword to be easy, what is confusing is the "59%" from the Keyword Difficulty results. Thanks for the answers!

Campaign Manager - Keyword Grouping
Hey, I was just thinking that it would be useful to be able to group keywords by page or some other factor in the campaign monitor keyword rank checking tool (I am sure it's called something better than that). Maybe it's just me, but I am struggling a little with this for relatively smaller sites so if I could tag each keyword and filter / group them by the tag it would be another useful tool for my seo utility belt. Fairly painless to implement as well I would imagine. 1. Create tags 2. assign tags to keywords with a drop down (optional) Would be a useful tool when exporting data to group by tag etc. Just a thought. 🙂 Marcus
