Which part of SEO do you think will take the most time? and Why?
-
Agreed that link building and therefore increasing the trust / authority of the website are the hardest or most time consuming parts of marketing a website in search right now. You may not see the results of good links immediately - it can take months for rankings to rise as a result of good link building, and the bar for "good link building" is very high right now.

Getting good amount of quality link backs.
in these dark ages for seo link building getting quality back links is the task which consumes the maximum time.

Hi Mark,
The nature of web-page authority usually takes time to grow. Its a significant metric (see ranking factors page, it is the most correlated factor) Its the one that is hardest to influence as part of factors in page authority is TIME.
Therefore the TIME factor takes the most time in SEO

Lightboxes and SEO
Do lightboxes (AKA popup boxes when you click "learn more" type CTAs) have any negative effect on SEO? We are looking at revamping our sites to have more of a tiled approach, and a lightbox with summary content popping out with additional CTAs, directing to pages with more information or free trial pages. Is there any downside to this approach from an organic perspective? is there anything specific to keep in mind when creating these if not?

Changing categorisation effect on SEO
Hi I work on an ecommerce shop & we've discussed changing some of out categories. We have one named cupboards & lockers, but want to split this out, so we have Cupboards then Lockers so customers can browse through our main navigation like this. For SEO I know initially our rankings will be affected, but long term moving categories up a level will be an improvement & will be more relevant - has anyone does this before and could provide any advice? URL structure for SEO
Hi Mozzers, I have a site which is a combination of product pages, and news and advice pages that relate to the products. How would you approach the URL structure for this, following SEO best practice? Approach 1 Product pages:
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | A_Q
www.website.com/product-category/product-page News and advice pages:
www.website.com/product-category/product-page/news-and-advice-story-1
www.website.com/product-category/product-page/news-and-advice-story-2
etc or Approach 2 Product pages:
www.website.com/product-category/product-page News and advice pages:
www.website.com/news/product-category/news-and advice-story-1 (with internal linking to relevant product page)
www.website.com/news/product-category/news-and advice-story-2 (with internal linking to relevant product page)
etc Or would a different approach be better?0 -
Ecommerce SEO: Title Tags for pagination
Here's a specific question about title tags for ecommerce website... We've got lists of products (category list pages) that stretch for many pages... is there any benefit to added a something to make the title tag unique. For example: Page 1: <title></span><span class="html-tag" data-mce-mark="1">Category List Page Example</span><span class="html-tag" data-mce-mark="1"></title> Page 2: <title></span><span class="html-tag" data-mce-mark="1">Category List Page Example - Page 2</span><span class="html-tag" data-mce-mark="1"></title> Page 3: <title></span><span class="html-tag" data-mce-mark="1">Category List Page Example - Page 3</span><span class="html-tag" data-mce-mark="1"></title> FWIW, we've got the pagination and canonicalization nailed down tight. Moz crawl actual brought a dupe content issue based on title tags.

Is Snip.ly bad for SEO?
Hi, I'm using the software snip.ly, which allows me to add call to action into content I publish through social media. It's really powerful but I'm wondering how it can affect my SEO? Snip.ly now appears into my link report and its spam score is only 2, which is good. However I'm afraid that in the long term, it can be bad: links are created manually by the webmarketer Topics of this website are infinite the ancor is the same Your thoughts?..

Video SEO for Google
I was wondering what the prime factors were to make something rank for a video on Google. Does anyone have any suggestions? I think that length may be important, but I don't know what the ideal run time is. Hypothetically for local SEO, would I be better off doing a tag like "Mercedes Buffalo NY" or do individual tags of "Mercedes" and "Buffalo" Thanks!
