Same search term shows #1 on Bing but #140 on Google?
-
Hi, I am using the search term of my website domain i.e. "Series Digital" on both Bing and Google. Bing shows my website as the top most link. But on Google, my website appears on page 14!!
Why is this happening when I am using the string within the " "?
-
Hi Kate,
Thanks for your response. We submitted the XML site map. And yes, we did a couple of press releases. We will wait for this to improve.
-
That is most likely the issue then. If the site is 2 months old, then there isn't enough trust in the site yet. Google, because the site is so new, is showing the user the most relevant and most trusted pages for the phrase "Series Digital". If the site was older, or had ranked for that term for some time and then dropped, I would be worried, but this is all very natural.
You are going to need to do some basic SEO to the site to help this process out. The homepage doesn't have a meta description. The homepage page title is a little over optimized. Try approaching the titles from a user standpoint and having a unique meta description for every page.
Have you submitted an XML sitemap to Google as well? If the company just launched, are there any plans for press coverage?

Hi Kate,
There are no drops in search traffic as such. Our website is just under 2 months old. Right from the beginning, the term "Series Digital" was faring at #1 on Bing, but way way lower on Google. Given that we are using the string within the "", it should work the same right?
And no, this is not a competitive term.. just a name we thought of for the company.
Thanks.

Are you seeing drops in natural search traffic for other pages on your site other than the homepage?
And is this term a competitive term for your market? I know it's your name, but I am curious if there is something else at play here.
-
Well, I just noticed it has moved up to #15. And yes, I checked webmaster, but there are no penalties.
-
Without any more data points, this looks like a penalty of some kind. Have you logged into Google Webmaster Tools recently to see if you have any messages?

Missing Keywords in Google SERP
We just got this attached image from one of our partners - has anyone seen Google putting 'missing' keywords in SERPs like this before? They said that it was not a plugin or anything and this is a screenshot of their organic search results. google%20screenshot_zpsgmwaf9e2.png

Wrong Google pin locations
Did something happen recently that would affect pin locations on Google Maps? I've been updating Google Places pages, but not touching the address or pins - but I received a phone call from one of my locations that their pin location changed in the past month and now it is wrong. Meanwhile, another department recently had MomentFeed update the pins for accuracy. Thoughts?

Profile Picture Display Next to Map on Google Search
On a recent Google search, I noticed that the top result also displayed the Google map of the location next to it but aside from that, it also displayed that business' Google+ Profile picture. I'm wondering how that is done. We have a Google+ account as well with an image associated with our business. At this point, the map doesn't even display for our business, but how does one get the map and the profile picture to appear on search results? Here's a link to the search result in question:

Rich Snippets stopped showing up in SERPS
Up until a few weeks ago my testimonial review ratings (5 star rating system) were showing up in search results but they no longer do. Went to the google rich snippet testing tool and they still do there just not on the real search results. Any thoughts on why? Perhaps an algorithm change?

What do you think Google analyzes for SERP ranking?
I've been doing some research trying to figure out how the Google algorithm works. The one thing that is constant is that nothing is constant. This makes me believe that Google takes a variable that all sites have and divides it by that number. One example would be taking the load time in MS and dividing it by the total number or points the website scored. This would give all of the websites a random appearance since there that variable would throw off all the other constants. I'm going to continue doing research but I was wondering what you guys think matters in the Google Algorithm. -Shane

Google SERP UI in December
For retailers (or commercial queries), it seems like PPC ads, product ads and google shopping links were allocated more pixel real estate in December than in previous years, and the amount of pixel real estate allocated to organic listings declined further. I was wondering if anyone had any knowledge on when these changes were rolled out.

Google +1 link on Domain or Page?
Since its release, I've seen Google +1 being used across an entire domain but only reference the root href in the code snippet. At the same time, you see other sites use +1 more naturally with the button being specific to the page you're on. What's your take on this? To clarfiy, do you add: or .. on each page.
