Just a thought.
With the way pagerank works and passing link juice evenly across all your links. Would it make sense to structure your site so that each page passes your all your link juice from lets say your homepage to another page. Then that page would contain all the link juice from the homepage. Then do the same thing with the next pages. For instance
Homepage - linkjuice 10
- link1 - follow
- link2 rel=nofollow
- link3 rel=nofollow
- link4 rel=nofollow
- link5 rel=nofollow
Link1 - linkjuice 10
- link1 rel=nofollow
- link2 - follow
- link3 rel=nofollow
- link4 rel=nofollow
- link5 rel=nofollow
Link2 - linkjuice 10
- link1 rel=nofollow
- link2 rel-nofollow
- link3 - follow

Theoretically would'nt this help pass a ton if not all of link juice to your main links? Sorry if this is a dumb question, it's late and sometimes my mind goes places

This is an example of how google will change their mind without tellin'
When nofollow first came out Matt Cutts said that it could be used to "sculpt" pagerank. Some people started to use it that way. Then, years later, Google said that they had changed their mind about this quite a while ago and that they had been evaporating the pagerank flowing into nofollow links.
So, just because you hear google say something today. Don't count on that working tomorrow.
Bottom line, do stuff because you think it will be GOOD FOR THE VISITORS ON YOUR WEBSITE.
Lots of the links that people have built in the past have negative value today.... lots of the crap content that people created in the past has negative value today... Those folks should have been building things that are good for their visitors instead of building contraptions to fool google. You might fool google today but down the road it will hit you in the ass.

As Mat says, the nofollow links are still allocated a share of the "link juice" and then it's just discarded. So in your example above you'd be throwing away 8 points and passing only 2 down to your first link!
So, if you want to pass more link equity to the pages you really want to rank you may want to remove some links that don't really matter. (For example combining your privacy policy / terms and conditions / legal pages into one...)

Not a dumb question at all. There was a "fashion" for this for a while. Unfortunately it was really obvious manipulation, so things were changed to make it ineffective. Now the pagerank that would have passed down those no-follow links just dissipates.
That means that "sculpting" is now more about removing unwanted links and ensuring good structure.

JPG's listed as the Top Pages in Moz
In Moz, under Links, my Top Pages are all .jpg's. Is this unusual? Should I change the names of those jpg's and redirect the jpgs listed on the Top Pages to the html page it can be found on?

Like instead of people linking to this page: https://www.freequilt.com/cat-and-the-fiddle.html it looks like from the Top Pages that people are linking directly to this image: https://www.freequilt.com/images/nursery-rhyme-series/cat-and-the-fiddle/moona.jpg
My thoughts are to rename that image so no one is linking to it, and redirect the image to the html page. Would I be hurting my Google ranking any by doing so?1 -
Raising a page in search engines - My plan - Thoughts...
I am trying to put forward a strategy for my company on how to create content, then follow it up with link building and social posts in hope to build the page rank in search engines like Google. Can you please take a look at this and let me know your thoughts? I have read the MOZ help documentation about search and want to see what you guys think. This is not a local search, we are a national website selling products throughout multiple offices. So we are trying to rank for certain keywords. This is what we have come up with. Any help/opinions would be greatly appreciated! Step 1: Create a page around the keyword that we want to rank for. The page must be well written, contain content which is engaging and may be hard to get this content elsewhere. The page may contain a video with further information on the topic. Of course the correct tags must be present (H1), page titles, etc. Step 2: Once the page is created it is time to start getting people to see the page. This is where we start with social media. Making a post about the page and getting people to see it. (Facebook, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Twitter, etc.) Step 3: Press release. When sending out press releases on topics related to the page, we can link to the page in the release. Step 4: Articles on industry websites. Try to get industry websites to write an article on a certain topic that we specialize in. If they can link to the page we created in the article, it would help. (Sites with high page ranks and .edu websites are extra powerful.) Thanks for reading.

Links to "boring" pages
Hello Mozzers, EDIT: Is internal linking enough? This question is my head for a long time. Let's say I have a webdesign company and a website (really?). I have a blog and write quality content on a weekly basis. The content is great and people love it, they share it on social networks and other webmasters link to these articles. Now I have one optimized page, that brings me the business. Lets say: mywebsite.com/webdesign-service On this page I only have boring stuff like saying what I am offering and testimonials and stuff. So basically a page no one shares and no one links to. But it's important to rank with the keywords targeted on this site. How do I get to rank this page? A page that doesn't offer value to anybody. Normally, we shouldn't have pages like this, but some companies do boring stuff and creativity doesn't help. Maybe this question is stupid, forgive me but I don't get it. I am thankful for any answers on this!

Too many on page links
Hi i'm new to MOZ, after sacking my SEO consultant due to the penguin update. My site position isn't fantastic right now for my national and local search terms 😞 The first problem i have is tackling too many on page links. I understand it should be 100 or less, unless users would benefit more. Looking at my links i have up to 200 on page links (which i know are not beneficial or user friendly). If i give you an example this page has 208 links: http://www.drivejohnsons.co.uk/blog/page/3 Heres another one with 157 links: http://www.drivejohnsons.co.uk/author/admin/page/2 Here's one that isn't associated with my blog that has 188 links: http://www.drivejohnsons.co.uk/testimonials On average most pages excluding the blog have around 120 links per page and i know thats to do with my Nav Bar - which i will sort out. My question is: Because the majority of these high link pages are associated with my blog, will that affect my site SEO performance? If yes, does anyone have any suggestions as to how i can reduce the total links on each page within my blog? The more i blog, this number is only going to increase 😞 Im using wordpress. Are Links/Resources pages considered spam?
I'm dabbling with link building in a non link-happy industry, traffic safety (IE Traffic cones, barricades, safety vests, etc...). We currently are doing #RCS in terms of giveaways for college students as well as discounts in a wider EDU Outreach campaign as well as legitimate guest posting. I have started to use Link Prospector, and got a list of links/resources pages that we can get info from. I found some great links through here, including ways to get links from higher-profile .gov domains, but was wondering if it is worth it to go after the high(er) quality links/resources pages. By higher quality, I usually set a floor of a DA 25-30 and have a limited amount of external links per page. These would be for branded keywords (IE the company name/domain) and not exact match anchor text. I'd really like to see how other SEOs feel about this. Internal Links and Page Authority - Best Practices
Hello, Is it bad (in terms of ranking in the SERPS) if i have a link from a page with PA of 18 going to a page with PA of 21? In other words, does it matter if the page containing the link has a lower page authority than the page receiving the link? Page A links to Page B Page A page authority is 18 Page B page authority 21 could this negatively affect my rankings? Thanks

What can I do to increase this page's rank
I have this page that is doing alright for the phrase "skyward sword walkthrough" I used to be ranked number 2 but it has dropped http://legendzelda.net/skyward-sword-walkthrough/ Sites like IGN are huge so I do not blame them for overpassing my rank but zelda informer I feel like I should be outranking at least. I have a fairly good on page ranking grade using the seomoz tool. And the OSE shows I have 11 domains linking - most with some kind of variation to that keyword. And I have actually built out more since then. Most the links are on highly relevant pages. I contacted a lot of gaming sites before this game was released and asked for a link back in exchange for a variety of things (shoutouts mostly - no paid links) The page performed extremely well when Skyward Sword came out and I got hundreds of thousands of hits but as my rank is beginning to drop its a lot less (also can be attributed to hype dying down). But any suggestions or glaring issues would be great. Link building is something I am always doing as well - mostly through guest blogging.
