301 redirect of PR 6 domain to PR 1 site, Will it improve my site's seo?
-
I have a pagerank 1 website but i recently purchased one old pagerank 6 domain, if I 301 redirect this pr6 domain to my currrent pr1 site, will it will increase my site's pr and improve seo ?
-
not for PageRank, because as I stated, page rank is only links, but for relevancy yes, it wont be relevant.
You could also be importing problems with the domain along wit the PR,
-
It shouldn't be though it may confuse search engines as to what your site is about and its locality but its minor. You will loose PR but its not the end of the world, create a great site and it will come back just don't make the site for just the PR alone.

domain had thai language website but i want to build a english site on it but niche will same i.e technology , will that be a problem?
-
I want to make new site previous domain had a different language will that be a problem?
-
since the sites structure will be different, you are probably only going to get PR from links to the home page.
PageRank is passed by links, so any links pointing to the PR6 domain can now point to your domain. But there is more than page rank, there is relevancy. If the PR6 domain was about cats, they the link text and linking pages are probably about cats, if your site is about cars then you wont get any relevancy.
as for the mentions of link building, as I stated above, PR is simple links, the PR6 domain much have a lot of good links already.
-
it's difficult technically yes it could work but at the same time if you change the site the pr is for the old site so you would have a drop in rankings as your creating a new site and some of the links would be lost etc.
The best advice is if the pr6 site is a domain you want like your brand then go a ahead create the site make it awesome but don't worry too much about creating a site on the pr6 site thinking its going to give you a giant boost especially if its unrelated to your niche. As Silk pointed out an aged domain can help but in the larger picture good content works best.
End of the day its up to you i recommend taking a look at all of your options and going with the one that benefits you and most importantly your users the most.
-
What about using this pr6 domain to build a new site ?
-
Just for some additional resource might want to check out - http://moz.com/blog/save-your-website-with-redirects
Also Google's aware of a black hat method of just buying domains and 301ing them to your main site - its not as simple so be careful of assuming it will work.
-
No problem, glad I could help.
-
Ok thank you very much for your valuable comments
-
Speaking broadly I would say yes, if the niche is the same. Particularly if the domain is aged rather than new.
-
Last question if i build a new site on that pr6 domain + new backlinKs will it be more beneficial?
-
Yes, and getting your on-site SEO is very, very important too. I sometimes see much better results by modifying landing pages than "building" links.
-
Other methods means link building?
-
It will improve your Pagerank - but not to a PR 6.
It will only benefit your SEO if you are applying other methods and the site is domains are relevant to each other.

We're looking at providing SEO for a website that has the majority of its incoming links from websites created solely to provide links. Few have bad spam rankings. How worried should I be about those links?
The majority of incoming links to a prospect's website are from website pages apparently created solely to provide links to the website. Few have high spam scores. The sites linking to the main site have versions of blogs with linked text. They seem to be providing positive SEO value now, but I'm concerned they might get noticed and hurt the main site in the future.

Domain Authority
I am very new to SEO. I've built a dog grooming website for a business that my wife and I have established. www.petsalonbarkavenue.com When I try and check the metrics out, it keeps showing I have a 1 on page authority, and a 1 on domain authority. When I check a competitors site, they have certain anchor text that Moz has identified. I am pretty certain that our business is listed on the same directory as this competitor, yet Moz doesn't identify my site's anchor text. Am I doing something wrong? or is my site so new, that Moz hasn't been able to find it? Craig

Angies List and Judy's Book and other sites
How much SEO weight do sites like Judy's Book or even Angie's List have. I do see the links in the linking reports but I am not sure if I should classify them as paid directories for inclusion. Also a second part of the question is do most of you still recommend the use of paid directories for link building? Yahoo Directory, BBB and so on?

What can I do to increase this page's rank
I have this page that is doing alright for the phrase "skyward sword walkthrough" I used to be ranked number 2 but it has dropped http://legendzelda.net/skyward-sword-walkthrough/ Sites like IGN are huge so I do not blame them for overpassing my rank but zelda informer I feel like I should be outranking at least. I have a fairly good on page ranking grade using the seomoz tool. And the OSE shows I have 11 domains linking - most with some kind of variation to that keyword. And I have actually built out more since then. Most the links are on highly relevant pages. I contacted a lot of gaming sites before this game was released and asked for a link back in exchange for a variety of things (shoutouts mostly - no paid links) The page performed extremely well when Skyward Sword came out and I got hundreds of thousands of hits but as my rank is beginning to drop its a lot less (also can be attributed to hype dying down). But any suggestions or glaring issues would be great. Link building is something I am always doing as well - mostly through guest blogging.

Backllinks to our site but via redirect (still SEO helpful?)
Hi, A large website may link to us but via their internal redirect mechanism. So it would be somthing like this: [If you select the link, it eventually goes to our site but not from the original page. These links would be placed on lots of pages, but since they would all "pass through" the "redirect" page, it seems not as beneficial from an SEO perspective. Is this reasoning correct? Would google still follow the link and see where it ends up, even though it is via multiple pages? Ideally I'd prefer direct link but how much better is it than the redirect as listed above?](/redirect/rd?site=www.oursite.com/page&trackingparam=111111)

Should I Just Copy A Competitor's Backlinks?
Forgive the newbie question, but now that I have found SeoMoz and OpenSiteExplorer, should I just piggy back on my competitors backlinks? What would be the downside? By way of explanation, I've never had the need to explore SEO before. Our site, Widgets.com has always ranked highly for all Widgets keywords because we have the keyword in our domain and our site has been around since 1998. But out of the blue this summer, a site, let's call them WidgetsCircus.com suddenly began outranking us on widgets keywords, and pretty much every keyword we can imagine in our little widget universe. Now that I have run OpenSiteExplorer, I can see how they've done it. They've pretty much spent the last year commenting on blog posts all over the place, editing wiki pages, etc., and built thousands of links for all these widget keywords. So, I'm wondering: why shouldn't I just go down the list of links and do exactly what they've done? Where they commented on a blog, why don't I just comment right along side them. Obviously, this has worked for them! Wouldn't it work for us too? Or is that too simple?
