When you can't see the cache in search, is it about to be deindexed?
-
Here is my issue and I've asked a related question on this one. Here is the back story. Site owner had a web designer build a duplicate copy of their site on their own domain in a sub folder without noindexing. The original site tanked, the webdesigner site started outranking for the branded keywords. Then the site owner moved to a new designer who rebuilt the site. That web designer decided to build a dev site using the dotted quad version of the site. It was isolated but then he accidentally requested one image file from the dotted quad to the official site. So Google again indexed a mirror duplicate site (the second time in 7 months). Between that and the site having a number of low word count pages it has suffered and looked like it got hit again with Panda.
So the developer 301 the version to the correct version. I was rechecking it this morning and the dotted quad version is still indexed, but it no longer lets me look at the cache version. Out of experience, is this just Google getting ready to drop it from the index?

Hey BCutrer,
Just wanted to make sure you'd seen a good solution to this and everything was deindexed properly?
I haven't heard anyone mention the lack of a cached version as a sign of deindexation about to occur, but would be curious if you still think that was the case. I would sooner guess that noarchive was placed on those pages.
-
It would solve it if you had control over the domain. Park it on top of the new domain, and do a htaccess rule that automatically forwards the user to the new site if the old domain is typed in.
-
The issue isn't the 301, that's already been taken care of. Unfortunately it is a branded url, so that can't be changed, even if they did start over though on a new URL that wouldn't solve the duplicate site floating around out there.
-
301 everything you find wrong. Waiting on them to do it will take forever, and most likely they will not find every instance.
Honestly, if possible I would just start over on a new site or domain. You can copy and paste all the content from the old domain into the new one, and request that the entire old site be unindexed. Since this is it's 4th(!) duplication, and you mentioned it was hit with a panda update, its not that it cant be fixed, its more about do you have the time available to wait for it to be (both in development costs and google re-indexing)?
-
Probably - I've never tracked something like this or read anything on the subject. In general, just 301 redirect from dev to live URLs and eventually the rankings will transfer. It may take a couple weeks though.

Face Palm - Probably want to start all over your making to much work for the search engines and they don't like it.

Error 404 Search Console
Hi all, We have a number of 404 https status listed in Search Console even treated, not decrease. What happened: We launched a website with the urls www.meusite.com/url-abc. We launched these urls sitemap. Google has indexed. ... For some reason, the urls were changed four days later by some developer in my equipe. So I asked the redirection of URLs "old" already indexed to the new (of: / url-abc to / url-xyz) all correspondingly. I submit the sitemap with new urls. We fixed the internal links. And than marked as fixed in the Search Console. But it does not work! Has anyone had a similar experience? Thanks for any advice!

What do you think about this links? Toxic or don't? disavow?
Hi, we are now involved in a google penalty issue (artificial links – global – all links). We were very surprised, cause we only have 300 links more less, and most of those links are from stats sites, some are malware (we are trying to fight against that), and other ones are article portals. We have created a spreadsheet with the links and we have analyzed them using Link Detox. Now we are sending emails, so that they can be removed, or disavow the links what happen is that we have very few links, and in 99% of then we have done nothing to create that link. We have doubts about what to do with some kind of links. We are not sure them to be bad. We would appreciate your opinion. We should talk about two types: Domain stats links Article portals Automatically generated content site I would like to know if we should remove those links or disavow them These are examples Anygator.com. We have 57 links coming from this portal. Linkdetox says this portal is not dangerous http://es.anygator.com/articulo/arranca-la-migracion-de-hotmail-a-outlook__343483 more examples (stats or similar) www.mxwebsite.com/worth/crearcorreoelectronico.es/ and from that website we have 10 links in wmt, but only one works. What do you do on those cases? Do you mark that link as a removed one? And these other examples… what do you think about them? More stats sites: http://alestat.com/www,crearcorreoelectronico.es.html http://www.statscrop.com/www/crearcorreoelectronico.es Automated generated content examples http://mrwhatis.net/como-checo-mi-correo-electronico-yaho.html http://www.askives.com/abrir-correo-electronico-gmail.html At first, we began trying to delete all links, but… those links are not artificial, we have not created them, google should know those sites. What would you do with those sites? Your advices would be very appreciated. Thanks 😄

Domain changed 5 months ago still see search results on old domain
Hi, We changed our domain from coedmagazine.com to coed.com in April'13. Applied 301 redirects on all pages, submitted 'change of address' to google but we still see site:coedmagazine.com fetching 130K results on google as opposed to site:coed.com fetches 40K results. Can anybody here throw some light on what might be going wrong? [ Site runs on wordpress, hosted with wordpress as well ] thank you

Increasing Search Queries
Recently I had a drop in the over all number of search queries my website was ranking for (about 50%) on October 5th. I did not lose rankings for my target keywords. How can I regain these lost opportunities?

I'm afraid I may have messed up my site's organization
So I recently started working on an existing site for a company, and I'm afraid I may have done something to lose some backlinks. So to start off, say the website is www.domain.net and when I arrived domain.net and www.domain.net showed up as two separate sites so I changed my web.config file to direct all domain.net to www.domain.net The homepage was called default.asp, and I wanted the homepage to always show up as www.domain.net instead of www.domain.net/default.asp. Of course they both showed the same thing but I couldn't figure it out. So I removed www.domain.net/default.asp from indexing and changed the my internal links to the homepage to point at www.domain.net instead of simply pointing at the file default.asp. So now www.domain.net/default.asp still brings up the page, but I want it to revert to www.domain.net. I'm also a little worried because I noticed that one of my incoming links points at www.domain.net/default.asp and it doesn't get passed along to www.domain.net and I think i may have damaged my sites SEO I guess this is a very complicated and roundabout way of saying this, but how can I get www.domain.net/default.asp to take you to www.domain.net

Why do I have better results with absolute search
Hi, I completed the optimization of my website, and while my rankings have improved, i seem to have consistently better resultats with absolute search terms: ex: i'm better ranked on "word1 word2" than just word1 word2 without the guillemets. Do you have any idea why? As most people perform search without guillemets, i would like to improve my rankings with these searches too. thanks, cedric
