Can you use schema markup to do this?
-
We sell steel plates. They come in a number of different grades and then in a variety of sizes. Generally we have a page for each unique grade. What I want to do is to use schema to enhance the rich snippet in SERPS to say something like
- width: 2 - 3.5m
- length 6 - 14m
- thickness 6 - 300mm
- Phosphorous: 0.005%
- Sulphur 0.005%
is this possible using schema? would I use thing/product or another theme?
i'm trying to scope out the possibilities here to determine whether it is worth spending time on.
The the other more interesting question is whether it is possible to respond differently to informational and purchasing searches. So if someone is looking for informations physical and chemical properties would be best used in the schema markup. If they are looking to purchase then product characteristics. Can these be shown differentially?
-
No I would invest in Schema, but in this case I personally think that the attributes listed would not be implemented in any search engine soon. Some of them you would have to use the additionalType and that would be one of my last guesses for attributes that would ever be included.
-
You would not invest in Schema.org at all or just in this case? I could agree with the latter as chances are that this kind of data will show up in the SERPs is really low.
-
Is it possible to mark that up in schema? Sure. Is it supported and will be shown by any search engine, no on both counts. I personally would not invest time in it, maybe you can make all of that information part of the description for the time being.

Using rel=canonical
I have a set of static pages which were created with the purpose of targeting long tail keywords. That has resulted in Domain Authority dilution to some extent. I am now in the process of creating one page which will serve the same results but only after user selects the fields in the drop-down. I am planning to use rel=cannonical on the multiple pages pointing back to the new page. Will it serve the purpose?

Using a Colo Load Balancer to serve content
So this is a little complicated (at least for me...) We have a client who is having us rebuild and optimize about 350 pages of their website in our CMS. However, the rest of the website will not be on our CMS. We wanted to build these pages on a sub-domain that is pointed to our IPs so it could remain on our CMS--which the client wants. However, they want the content on a sub-directory. This would be fine but they will not point the main domain to us and for whatever reason this becomes impossible per their Dev team. They have proposed using a Colo Load Balancer to deliver the content from our system (which will be on the sub domain) to their sub directory. This seems very sketchy to me. Possible duplicate content? Would this be a sort of URL masking? How would Google see this? Has anyone ever even heard of doing anything like this?

Does anyone use paid seo tools
Hi, i see a lot of people claiming that paid seo tools work, i would like to know if anyone uses them. I have a new site that i am building and i am wondering if there are any good paid tools out there that could help me gain exposure quicker. I get a lot of emails from well known companies promoting their paid tools but have never bought any as i believe you should hear from people who have tried them first. If you feel there are any good paid seo tools out there for help with rankings and link building then i would love to hear about them

What can i do to let google know we are a lifestyle magazine
Hi my site http://www.in2town.co.uk/ is a lifestyle magazine and before we changed templates and changed the joomla language from 1.0 to 1.5 our lifestyle magazine was getting around 10,000 visitors a day and we were number one in google for the search term lifestyle magazine. In the past few months we have been number five for the search term lifestyle magazine and now since yesterday we have dropped to ten. I have a serious problem that being a online lifestyle magazine i do not have the luxury to have lots of text telling people it is a lifestyle magazine and google. What i mean is, if this was a website about benidorm then you would have an introduction about benidorm so google would understand what the site is about. What i would like help on, is to get back to the top and know where i can put a nice introduction which does not look out of place and what i can do to get back to the top under the search term lifestyle magazine. any help would be great

How can I exclude display ads from robots.txt?
Google has stated that you can do this to get spiders to content only, and faster. Our IT guy is saying it's impossible.
