Blog for SEO
-
Hello,
When setting up a blog for seo, are same rules applied as far as keyword density, exact, phrase & broad match etc? We are in the process of setting up a blog on our site, with wordpress and want to start off on the right foot.
Thank you

I link back to my site, to help tie together content matches that I think can help the user/reader. I keep in in check depending on the length of the blog piece, the intricacy of the topic (is it jargon heavy or really technical?) and work from there.
Good content, to me, does match up to SEO because you're targeting what your user cares about and looking for. Using the same best practices makes sense. (You can have great content but if you didn't SEO it well, then how easy is it for people to find to know it's good?) Don't go overboard because it can seem spammy and be a reader turn off.

Should I Always include some type of link leading back to my site? Is there a point where it would do more harm then good?
-
Generally Yes... But starting off on the right foot would be to blog about helpful ideas in your niche or questions about your project that will go farther than just onpage seo

No URL for my blog?!!!
I use a website provider for my website. Sadly, although it has an integrated blog, the blog posts title does not get included in the URL. So now, with my limited knowledge of SEO I'm wondering if blogging is still worth it? Any thoughts Greatly appreciated! 🙂

Should my client copy and paste his blog posts onto other professional sites?
I have a client who is an Attorney and participates in a couple of different Q and A legal sites. One of these legal sites is recommending to my client that he copy and paste his blog posts onto his profile page on the Q and A site. I understand my client wanting to copy and paste his blog posts onto these sites, as it will not only get his content in front of a larger audience, but also lend credibility. However, I've always heard that that could cause some duplicate content problems. Will my client's blog likely get penalized by google for copying and pasting his blog posts onto other relevant sites?

What is the easiest way for me to pitch a blog post for inclusion on SEOmoz?
I want to write a post about why PR people have been doing content marketing for decades. It is just that most don't realise it. I then want to cover 5 content marketing tips from the PR industry, looking 'beyond the infographic'.

Blog Benefits
I read a very interesting answer by Andy Solo to a previous question in which he replied: "Use your blog to create some Tips & How-To's, optimize those blog entries for the long tail keywords and soon enough your blog will be the gateway into your website. Learn how to target longl-tail keyword searches and how to analyze keyword competition to find the right niche blog posts to create". With my own company site, www.nile-cruises-4u.co.uk which has a long-standing blog attached, www.nile-cruises-4u.co.uk/blog I always felt that the blog content greatly aided our top positions in Google.co.uk. However, over the last 12 months we have slipped right down page one and I wondered if the blog is still helping our site or if the emphasis/value has switched and Google is looking at a lot of other factors where we score badly? Does a directory running on a subdomain help or hurt SEO on the main site?
I have a blog, with a directory on the subdomain: directory.fbforbusinessmarketing.com. Is that smart for SEO, as it gives the overall domain more traffic? Or bad for SEO because of the different topics and all those outbound links? I'd appreciate opinions. Thanks.

What's the best blogging platform?
I've always used Wordpress without really giving it much thought, but I'm open to trying out a different platform for a new blog. Can anyone give me some advantages or reasons to move to a different platform? Thanks!

Blogs: Hosted vs. Off-Site
What is the latest opinion on whether to have a blog hosting on your primary domain or on an outside domain (either Wordpress or just another URL). In the past we have done the former and it's been a great source of fresh content and organic traffic. Wonder if there is good argument now for not having it on the domain. With this new site we're working on it logistically would be more challenging given their tech resources, plus they already have thousands of pages.
