Troulbe with finding goole place local page
-
Once you create your Google Local page ( via maps.Google.com) and create your business listing, you must wait for verification via digits sent on a postcard. Once you receive the verification code you can enter them - but where?
I went to https://www.google.com/local/verify ( and am logged in as a client in their gmail account) but it can't find any pending listings to verify.
Entering the phone number shows no previous data entered, and i must start all over again entering the client data.
And there is no way i know of to find that listing and all the data entered to manage and verify it.
Naturally this is very frustrating because i've done this before dozens of times and never had this problem.
Reading the Google documents is a waste of circular reasoning on me.
any suggestions?

Hi Jaco,
It sounds to me like you may be dealing with duplicate listings, if there is no place to enter the postcard code you received. If you do a phone number lookup at maps.google.com, to do you see more than one entry for the business in question? Look up any previous phone numbers you know of, too, and you can also look up the exact address and see what comes up.
If you can't figure this out, I highly recommend that you do start at thread at the Google and Your Business Forum (http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!forum/business) where you can get direct technical help from a Google employee or TC on this. They may well recommend that you start a troubleshooter ticket. Sounds to me like you may have run into either a complex problem with duplicates...though there is a slight chance you've encountered a bug. Google's staff and volunteers will have the ability to verify this by looking under the hood, if you can get a response to your thread.

Over 40+ pages have been removed from the indexed and this page has been selected as the google preferred canonical.
Over 40+ pages have been removed from the indexed and this page has been selected as the google preferred canonical. https://studyplaces.com/about-us/ The pages affected by this include: https://studyplaces.com/50-best-college-party-songs-of-all-time-and-why-we-love-them/ https://studyplaces.com/15-best-minors-for-business-majors/ As you can see the content on these pages is totally unrelated to the content on the about-us page. Any ideas why this is happening and how to resolve.

Why are only a few of our pages being indexed
Recently rebuilt a site for an auctioneers, however it has a problem in that none of the lots and auctions are being indexed by Google on the new site, only the pages like About, FAQ, home, contact. Checking WMT shows that Google has crawled all the pages, and I've done a "Fetch as Google" on them and it loads up fine, so there's no crawling issues that is standing out. I've set the "URL Parameters" to no effect too. Also built a sitemap with all the lots in, pushed to Google which then crawled them all (massive spike in Crawl rate for a couple days), and still just indexing a handful of pages. Any clues to look into would be greatly appreciated. https://www.wilkinsons-auctioneers.co.uk/auctions/

Unavoidable duplicate page
Hi, I have an issue where I need to duplicate content on a new site that I am launching. Visitors to the site need to think that product x is part of two different services. e.g. domain.com/service1/product-x domain.com/service2/product-x Re-writing content for product x for each service section is not an option but possibly I could get over that only one product-x page is indexed by search engines. What's the best way to do this? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Stuart

WP image pages
I used Dreamweaver for years but have recently been switching to Wordpress. On the whole the results have been very positive. However, I don't like the way that WP generates a page for images when the image is inserted into a blog post. I was just reading this http://www.eyeflow.com/content-strength-audit/ excellent article on Content Strength Audit and it referred to this problem as well. Often, when I insert an image into a blog, I delete the reference to the image page and link directly to the image. Is this an effective way to deal with the is problem? Is there a better approach? Best,

Localization without proper address?
Hi Mozzers, recently I received a project to promote a hotel website in a third world country. They have no street names, no landline phone, no zip-code. So far I tried to give a good address description in all social networks and on the homepage (footer) and signed into hotel directories. Suddently a new website of another hotel came up on google and made it up to number 1. They put a fake telefon number (landline) on the website. Is that a good idea of localizing a business? Do you have recommendations for me how to enhance. Thanks

Home page canonical issues
I think I’ve got a canonical issue with a client’s site that I’m having problems with I’ve noticed in their analytics that they receive traffic from themselves. I’ve used ‘ rel canonical’ throughout the site to avoid any dup issues and I have 301’ed every other variation of the home page I can think of. I don’t have full access to the back end of the host to control any of the iis as it’s an asp site. They seem to be getting traffic from their site under the URL of, example.com I’ve 301 redirected www.example.com/home.asp www.example.com/default.asp www.example.com/index.asp to www.example.com And 'rel canonical' the home page to www.example.com but still seem to be having the same problem any ideas? Thanks
