Genuine Bot or not! Click fraud?
-
We are having high levels of activity on one site from Ip addresses that resolve to be legitimate search engine bots. But, the cookie from our site is identifying an individual user. Is this a real person verifying our site or a click fraud that is well disguised. Some of the clicks generate gclid strings but never any sales.
-
Thank you and yes we are doing that. We have requested a list of Google Proxies as many of the clicks come through them We are also looking for IP addresses that resolve to proxy servers. This is a manual task and the cost involved is reducing ROI.
Sent real letters to customers last week for the first time in years. Fantastic response!!

Something additional you can do in the mean time is block by IP addresses manually. This is in the Settings for your campaigns under Advanced Settings.

Hello,
From the information you have provided, it sounds like it might be a form of click fraud by proxy. I have seen people use this method before (not used on me directly, but some of my colleagues have reported similar behavior).
Verification methods typically don't require multiple IP's and would not be conducted over an extended period of time.
You might notify Google through GWT and alert them to the situation - in my coworker's case, they refunded PPC costs and blocked the click fraud IP (and related proxies) from accessing the site. Without further information, I don't know how much more help I can be.
Hope it gets sorted out and best of luck!
Best regards,
Rob

Google Adwords Clicks not registering properly???
Hello Moz World, I am running a Google Adwords campaign utilizing Google Search and Search Partners only. These are traditional text ads. When I look at the analytics through Google Adwords, I am seeing 60 clicks. Great! However, when I look through the keywords in the ad groups, none of my keywords are registering clicks. I also checked search terms under the keyword tab, and no keywords are populating. Where are my ads being clicked, and how can I view information on these clicks. This is a relatively new campaign, and I am still trying to figure out if I am targeting the right keywords. Thanks ahead of time for all the great responses! B/R Will H.

Claiming SEO Services But Really Pay-Per-click
I just started marketing to dentists. I spoke at a local gathering to about 6 dentists and 3 of them said they were using SEO services. I looked at their sites and absolutely no SEO of anything was performed. They were quite taken back by this. Page titles all the same, no page descriptions etc. These dentists were paying about $800 per month and some had micro sites set up for them. It appears that this SEO company was using Google adwords to "artificially" drive traffic to the dentist or dentist micro site... and calling themselves an SEO company. This SEO company was also using tracking phone numbers on both the primary and micro sites. Which I've read can harm local NAP issues. I'm a bit worried that if I tell these dentists to stop using this company and go with me that the traffic will decrease while I work on real SEO. Maybe I should use adwords too until the "organic" power of SEO kicks in and they cut back until traffic stabilizes?

Content Network Clicks Not Count as Paid Search
So I've been noticing that the "searches" being recorded in Omniture for my paid search campaigns are closer to the total number of clicks that I get on my "search" campaign. However, when I look at the total number of clicks the discrepancy between the two is high...I'm talking 30 to 40% difference.... So I was thinking that perhaps neither Omniture nor Google Analytics really count clicks coming from the "Content Network" as searches or visits? Would anyone agree to this, or does anyone have any other clever ideas? Thanks!! -Margarita

Adwords Confusion - Where are these clicks coming from?
Ok, I posted two images showing that my Google Adwords search settings are to receive clicks only from google's search engine, as we are doing testing on keyword behavior with a few specific keywords. The second image will show that we have somehow 7 total search clicks, but not for any of our specific keywords. I'm confused. . . and hungry. . . I'm 'confungry'. 😉 jk any thoughts are welcomed. search-1.jpg search-2.jpg
