How often is a Places search run - ie via the Google menu option
-
Hi guys
Does anyone have a gut feel for how often the Places search option is used via the left hand side menu of Google?
I have a non-slip solutions (flooring/decking etc) client. Google does not provide a 'local search' type results page even when the location is added to the search term. So I am thinking I should prioritise energies on the website and not local search activities (like citations).
But I am wondering how many searches are conducted using the Places option.
Any views?
Many thanks
Wendy

Thanks Mike - no map when company is used either.
Think you are right though - focus elsewhere!

Hey Wendy-
I haven't seen any data on the click through rates on the places tab for search results so I can't be much help there but fundamentally the places local map system, from my experience, is typically dependent on a more industry specific keyword rather than a product keyword (i.e. "Flooring company" rather than "non-slip floors"). With that said, I have seen product searches generate map results but the search volume has to be at a certain volume for a map to be generated without having to click on places. I think in the case of marketing a non-slip flooring solution I would focus more of your attention on organic, ppc and other marketing avenues.
Good luck!
Mike

Google Indexing
Hi We have roughly 8500 pages in our website. Google had indexed almost 6000 of them, but now suddenly I see that the pages indexed has gone to 45. Any possible explanations why this might be happening and what can be done for it. Thanks, Priyam

When searching for related:katom.com on google, why isn't our website coming up?
A lot of our competitors come up but we aren't coming up. What do we need to do so that google considers us related? Our website is culinarydepotinc.com And I believe not being related to those big competitors affects our SEO, is that correct?

No images in Google index
No images are indexed on this site (client of ours): http://www.rubbermagazijn.nl/. We've tried everything (descriptive alt texts, image sitemaps, fetch&render, check robots) but a site:www.rubbermagazijn.nl shows 0 image results and the sitemap report in Search Console shows 0 images indexed. We're not sure how to proceed from here. Is there anyone with an idea what the problem could be?

Is Google ignoring my canonicals?
Hi, We have rel=canonical set up on our ecommerce site but Google is still indexing pages that have rel=canonical. For example, http://www.britishbraces.co.uk/braces/novelty.html?colour=7883&p=3&size=599 http://www.britishbraces.co.uk/braces/novelty.html?p=4&size=599 http://www.britishbraces.co.uk/braces/children.html?colour=7886&mode=list These are all indexed but all have rel=canonical implemented. Can anyone explain why this has happened?

Publishing content in two or more places?
I've been thinking about publishing an article on LinkedIn and then posting the same article to the news page on the website. It would be high quality informative and useful but is that likely to cause any duplicate content issues?

Reporting Webspam to Google
We are in ecommerce, and there are a few review sites that are dominating the rankings for our products. The sites are very good - very well written content (2000+ words) and visually appealing sites. The 2 main culprits are clearly black hat. One site's backlinks are pure spam, and the other is buying footer and sidebar links. Will ratting them to Google have any impact? If not, any suggestions on how to compete? Our competing pages are product descriptions, and creating a 2000 word product description seems inappropriate. Also, all of these products are brand new, and due to extensive media spends, the search volume is very high. Since they are beating us to the punch by getting good content posted first, they are proving difficult to displace.

"Null" appearing as top keyword in "Content Keywords" under Google index in Google Search Console
Hi, "Null" is appearing as top keyword in Google search console > Google Index > Content Keywords for our site http://goo.gl/cKaQ4K . We do not use "null" as keyword on site. We are not able to find why Google is treating "null" as a keyword for our site. Is anyone facing such issue. Thanks & Regards
