Why are my pages de-indexed?

<form id="form-t3_37nfib9dz" class="usertext" action="http://www.reddit.com/r/SEO/comments/37nfib/why_were_my_pages_deindexed/#">
Hello all,
I am very new to SEO.
For some reason many of the pages on my site were de-indexed.
Specifically the ones linked from this page:
However other pages, like the ones linked from this page and this page were not de-indexed.
http://www.lawyerconnection.ca/practice-areas/car-accident-injury-lawyers/[1]
However the pages linked from this page were not de-indexed: http://www.lawyerconnection.ca/practice-areas/slip-and-fall-lawyers/[2]
http://www.lawyerconnection.ca/podcastresources/[3]
That first page itself was not de-indexed, just the site that it links to.
It just happened today, so maybe I am jumping the gun but I doubt it.
When I enter the page into google webmaster tools again and press fetch, one of the child pages, it re-indexes.
What could be the problem here? I had someone re-write the content for every city but I have a feeling that there is less differences in the car accidents pages?
Is this considered duplicated content do you think? Am I making some other mistake I can't think of? Is it just a one day blip (I doubt it)
Let me know, thanks.

Hmm do you see the ones that I said look like they've been de-indexed? I think they were! Why would that be?
Let me know thanks.

Over Optimization may appear to google as an attempt to rank for terms by spamming or repeating unnecessary words. That is how in the past online companies ranked easily.
Google has changed the way their algorithm reviews sites and they look for spamming or over use of keyword phrases.
Now no-one is suggesting you are doing it it on purpose as it often happens by accident. Hence all the URL's that Patrick has highlighted appear to have that ominous "over optimization" look. The URL's are all the same except the city or the town at the end of the URL.
If still a bit muddy ask away happy to clear up, a good question...

I appreciate the help. What is "Over Optimization?"
So here's why I think they're de-indexed. I'm tracking google rankings and all my "Car accident lawyer-City" totally disappeared today.
If I go to google and I search:
http://www.lawyerconnection.ca/car-accident-injury-lawyers-in-oshawa/ or
http://www.lawyerconnection.ca/car-accident-injury-lawyers-kingston/
It doesn't come up. Yesterday it definitely did. This is why I think it's de-indexed.
Also my impression was I couldn't do Google My Business for all the different places because I don't have have brick and mortar locations in all of those cities.
Thanks and I appreciate the help.

Hi there
I am not exactly sure what you're asking here. According to my search, your site is being indexed, including the pages that you mentioned above. 164 pages out of the 168 I was able to crawl, in fact.
Now, I ran a ScreamingFrog, and a couple of things concerned me. You have a LOT of heavy optimization going on. Particularly around these pages:
http://www.lawyerconnection.ca/slip-and-fall-lawyers-ottawa/
http://www.lawyerconnection.ca/slip-and-fall-injury-lawyers-cambridge/
http://www.lawyerconnection.ca/slip-and-fall-lawyers-barrie/
http://www.lawyerconnection.ca/slip-and-fall-injury-lawyers-mississauga/
http://www.lawyerconnection.ca/slip-and-fall-lawyers-in-burlington/
http://www.lawyerconnection.ca/slip-and-fall-lawyers-in-toronto/
http://www.lawyerconnection.ca/slip-and-fall-lawyers-in-hamilton/
http://www.lawyerconnection.ca/slip-and-fall-injury-lawyers-in-sudbury/
http://www.lawyerconnection.ca/slip-and-fall-lawyers-kingston/
http://www.lawyerconnection.ca/slip-and-fall-lawyers-in-st-catharines/
http://www.lawyerconnection.ca/slip-and-fall-lawyers-in-guelph/
http://www.lawyerconnection.ca/slip-and-fall-lawyers-oshawa/
http://www.lawyerconnection.ca/slip-and-fall-lawyers-waterloo/And also...

http://www.lawyerconnection.ca/find-a-lawyer-clarence-rockland/
http://www.lawyerconnection.ca/find-a-lawyer-cornwall/
http://www.lawyerconnection.ca/find-a-lawyer-guelph/
http://www.lawyerconnection.ca/find-a-lawyer-hamilton/
http://www.lawyerconnection.ca/find-a-lawyer-in-burlington/
http://www.lawyerconnection.ca/find-a-lawyer-in-kingston/
http://www.lawyerconnection.ca/find-a-lawyer-in-kitchener/
http://www.lawyerconnection.ca/find-a-lawyer-in-orillia/
http://www.lawyerconnection.ca/find-a-lawyer-in-ottawa/
http://www.lawyerconnection.ca/find-a-lawyer-norfolk-county/
http://www.lawyerconnection.ca/find-a-lawyer-ontario/
http://www.lawyerconnection.ca/find-a-lawyer-oshawa/
http://www.lawyerconnection.ca/find-a-lawyer-pickering/While I understand that you do do work in different communities, are other ways of capturing this type of local traffic, particularly through a strategic local SEO campaign. I would take advantage of listing opportunities through Moz Local, Whitespark, and Google My Business if you have multiple practices. There are also service area opportunities available through Google.
Have you checked to see if you have a manual action of any kind? Have you seen your organic traffic at all?
I would take a look at geo-targeting your site as well in Google Search Console.

Moz's Beginner Guides
Moz Academy There are a ton of learning resources above that will help you get off on the right foot with SEO. Right now - I would focus on your on-site SEO, information architecture, and also your content. You have a lot of room for improvement on your website, but with proper research of your audience and keywords, you will be off in no time.Again, I don't see any reason why you may feel you've been removed from the index, but I am definitely not seeing a whole lot of reasons for your site to rank either. Not that's not a knock against you at all, there is just a lot of work to be done!
Hope this all helps! Good luck!

Why are http and https pages showing different domain/page authorities?
My website www.aquatell.com was recently moved to the Shopify platform. We chose to use the http domain, because we didn't want to change too much, too quickly by moving to https. Only our shopping cart is using https protocol. We noticed however, that https versions of our non-cart pages were being indexed, so we created canonical tags to point the https version of a page to the http version. What's got me puzzled though, is when I use open site explorer to look at domain/page authority values, I get different scores for the http vs. https version. And the https version is always better. Example: http://www.aquatell.com DA = 21 and https://www.aquatell.com DA = 27. Can somebody please help me make sense of this? Thanks,

Sitelinks to internal pages
Hi Moz Community, Is it only possible to get sitelinks to your main domain in the SERPs or can you also get them to internal pages in the SERPs? i.e. if this were to pop up in the SERP: www.mysite.com/page1

Can I get sitelinks such as the examples below:
Sitelink1: www.mysite.com/page1/page1a
Sitelink2: www.mysite.com/page1/page1b
Sitelink3: www.mysite.com/page1/page1c
etc. Just curious and I haven't really find anything like that on the internet. How can I set them up? Thanks.0 -
Noindex pages being indexed
Hi all Wondering if anyone could offer a pointer on a problem i am having please. I am developing an affiliate store and to prevent problems with duplicate content I have added name="robots" content="NOINDEX,FOLLOW" /> to all the product pages to avoid google penalties. However, Google appears to be indexing product pages. When I do a site: search I see a few hundred product pages in the engine. This is odd as the site has always had noindex on these pages. Even viewing the cache of the indexed page shows the noindex meta tag to be in place. I'm at a loss as to why these pages are being indexed and could do with removing them asap to stop any penalties on the site. Many thanks for any help.

Page Analysis - Helping Product Pages Outrank Search Results Pages
Hi! We have a lot of our search results pages that have been indexed and outrank our product pages and in some instance the actual product pages barely show up at all. Here is an example query that includes our brand name: http://goo.gl/cgB6W So, we have loads of actual product pages, video pages, etc that should be showing up here, but are not and this is just one example. Unfortunately, there are a LOT of these Search Results pages out there and utlimately we would love to de-index them altogether, but it's going to have to be carefully done. So, was wondering if anyone would want to check out one of our product pages and give any feedback as to what we could change to possibly improve rank or to make them more search friendly or hopefully to help them rise above these indexed search results pages? Here is an example product page: http://goo.gl/2R4IT Thanks!! Craig

Your thoughts on page navigation
Hi again SEOmoz community. What are your thoughts on mainpage navigation. How it should be handled? Scenario 1. - links to the main sections with a mouse rollover feature where it shows subsections of the main sections Scenario 2. - links to the main sections, but the subsections are hidden and only visible on the click Scenario 3. links to the main sections and subsections allways visible I would like to hear you oppinions on this. What did you find as the best featrue, or did you try to find someting new entirely. What do you think would be the best scenario SEO wise and in the light of keeping links on page in decent numbers 🙂 Imo, Scenario 2 is the option to go with. Tnx in advance for all your replys. Sincerely, sinisa

Is it necessary to add keywords to all of your pages?
Hi Everyone he company I work for has just built a new website with approximately 87 pages/sub pages. Should i be looking to add keywords and descriptions to all of these pages, via the allocated areas in the back end of the site? I am using "google's key words" tool to generate relevant key words. If any one has any advice it would be much appreciated. Thanks for you help Regards Pete
