Moz shows duplicate content, but URL's are tagged with campaign tags
-
Crawl diagnostics shows a lot of pages with duplicate content, but when I check the details, I see that it lists the same page but the url contains a campaign tag, so it's not really another page that is serving identical content...
Is there a way to remove these pages out of the Crawl Diagnostics?

Hey Joris,
I'm afraid that we aren't able to see what parameters you are adding to GWT, since we don't use that information in any way to crawl your site. We conduct a proprietary crawl of the site and report on exactly what your source code and server respond with.
Patrick is right that adding the canonical tags to your site (or using the robots.txt file to block the campaign pages) would clear up those errors in our crawler.
Since some dynamic URL generators can cause problems for crawlers, we do try to be overly-inclusive of these issues. We want people to know about potential issues with sites, even if they're not really issues in the scheme of the site owner's specific SEO implementation plan. In sum, we'd rather leave those judgments up to you. I hope this helps explain our thinking here!

Hi there
Well the canonical tag would help Moz understand that this page isn't duplicate, that's why I mentioned that tactic.
As far as Search Console, I was just trying to help get you other angles covered.
I would try canonical tags and see how that goes over on your next report.
Hope this helps! Good luck!

Thanks,
I already added the URL parameters in GWT but it's the duplicate content that is appearing in my MOZ reports because of those tags.
No way to exclude them of MOZ? Imagine you have a page that and a lot of tagged links pointing towards that page, it's gonna list all those tagged links in the duplicate content report.

Hi there
Campaign tags don't signal unique content. It's essentially the same concept as...
http://www.example.com
http://example.comBoth are two different URLs but have the same content, thus making it duplicate content, even though it's technically the same page.
What you can do is take a look into your canonical tags and make sure those are upto date and correct. You can also look into categorizing your parameters, letting crawlers know how to handle this content. Both of these resources will help with your duplicate content issue.
Yoast has a great resource as well for common causes and solutions to duplicate content.
Hope this helps! Good luck!

How do I combat title tag issues in Moz because of long company/site name? [Currently using Yoast SEO Plugin]
I've only just started to dip my toe into the SEO pool, so please forgive me if this is a silly question. I've been working heavily in the Moz tool and the Yoast SEO plugin to clean up the meta descriptions on our site, as there were many pages without descriptions in place (we just transferred from a different CMS to Wordpress within the last month or so). Now I'm noticing on our Site Crawl that we have 60+ pages that have title elements that are considered too long. When I go in to fix these issues on our blog posts (as this is where most of the issues lie), Yoast is already giving me the green light on the title lengths. I've discovered that the reason why Moz is telling us that many of our site lengths are too long is because "| Parker Staffing Services" is added to the end of our title tags automatically. Deep breath Now that you've heard all of the backstory... Is there a way that I can prevent that site title (which is 26 characters all by itself! Talk about limiting!) from displaying on search engines when our blog posts or pages show up in search results? I've poked around in the Titles & Metas settings that come with Yoast, but I fear making too many changes will result in me screwing something up. Help an SEO beginner out? 🙂

Multiple Countries, Same Language: Receiving Duplicate Page & Content Errors
Hello! I have a site that serves three English-speaking countries, and is using subfolders for each country version: United Kingdom: https://site.com/uk/ Canada: https://site.com/ca/ United States & other English-speaking countries: https://site.com/en/ The site displayed is dependent on where the user is located, and users can also change the country version by using a drop-down flag navigation element in the navigation bar. If a user switches versions using the flag, the first URL of the new language version includes a language parameter in the URL, like: https://site.com/uk/blog?language=en-gb In the Moz crawl diagnostics report, this site is getting dinged for lots of duplicate content because the crawler is finding both versions of each country's site, with and without the language parameter. However, the site has rel="canonical" tags set up on both URL versions and none of the URLs containing the "?language=" parameter are getting indexed. So...my questions: 1. Are the Duplicate Title and Content errors found by the Moz crawl diagnostic really an issue? 2. If they are, how can I best clean this up? Additional notes: the site currently has no sitemaps (XML or HTML), and is not yet using the hreflang tag. I intend to create sitemaps for each country version, like: .com/en/sitemap.xml .com/ca/sitemap.xml .com/uk/sitemap.xml I thought about putting a 'nofollow' tag on the flag navigation element, but since no sitemaps are in place I didn't want to accidentally cut off crawler access to alternate versions. Thanks for your help!

Duplicate Page Content on pages that appear to be different?
Hi Everyone! My name's Ross, and I work at CHARGED.fm. I worked with Luke, who has asked quite a few questions here, but he has since moved on to a new adventure. So I am trying to step into his role. I am very much a beginner in SEO, so I'm trying to learn a lot of this on the fly, and bear with me if this is something simple. In our latest MOZ Crawl, over 28K high priority issues were detected, and they are all Duplicate Page Content issues. However, when looking at the issues laid out, the examples that it gives for "Duplicate URLs" under each individual issue appear to be completely different pages. They have different page titles, different descriptions, etc. Here's an example. For "LPGA Tickets", it is giving 19 Duplicate URLs. Here are a couple it lists when you expand those:
Moz Pro | | keL.A.xT.o
http://www.charged.fm/one-thousand-one-nights-tickets
http://www.charged.fm/trash-inferno-tickets
http://www.charged.fm/mylan-wtt-smash-hits-tickets
http://www.charged.fm/mickey-thomas-tickets Internally, one reason we thought this might be happening is that even though the pages themselves are different, the structure is completely similar, especially if there are no events listed or if there isn't any content in the News/About sections. We are going to try and noindex pages that don't have events/new content on them as a temporary fix, but is there possibly a different underlying issue somewhere that would cause all of these duplicate page content issues to begin appearing? Any help would be greatly appreciated!0 -
Website Issues - Duplicate Content
Hello, I'm fairly new to using Moz and I logged on this morning to find Issues have been found in one of the websites - 22 High Priority and 44 Medium. I know it's due to duplicate content in the blog, but i can't figure out what is duplicated? I've only recently come on board this website so I don't know if the content has been plagiarised or what? The link to the site is here: delacyspa.co.uk Any help would be appreciated. Thanks zFxQmmd

Crawl report shows Title Element too long but they aren't
Hi, My latest crawl report says that I have a stack of pages with Title Element Too Long on them - e.g. Build My Ride - charity team building event with real purposeBuild My Ride - charity team building event with real purpose http://www.teamelevate.co.nz/events/build-my-ride1.html You can see that it shows the title element as doubled-up. When I look at the title element on the live page it is not double. GWT shows that there are no issues with long title elements. Any ideas anyone...? Chris

I've got thousands of links showing as 'followable' but when i check them they have rel="nofollow" tags. e.g: http://www.dianomioffers.co.uk/partner/moneyfacts.co.uk/brochures.epl?partner=93&partner_id=93&partner_variant_id=33 Why would they show as followable when the links are nofollowed? Thanks Steve
