Changed to HTTPS: Do I need to update Moz?
-
Hi Everyone! I have moved my website from HTTP to HTTPS. I believe that I've done everything correctly. Now that I've done that, do I need to update my Moz campaign (and how to do that)? Or, will Moz handle it itself? Or, do I need to create a new campaign with the HTTPS url? Thanks so much!

Hey Thomas!
If the re-auth does not work this is likely a token expiration which needs to be revoked from the Google side:
While logged into your Google Analytics account, click on this link and revoke Moz
https://accounts.google.com/issuedauthsubtokens
Then disconnect and re-connect your profile in Moz
Do not use "re-auth" as it will not work when revoking tokens.
Let me know if this helps!

And, David,
Quick question - every single week/time I log in to Moz.com it says that it isn't connected to my Google Analytics account. It seems to process things fine and keep track, but it's a real bummer to have to keep authorizing the Moz system. Any ideas on what could be causing this. It's been probably a year and I haven't asked anybody about this! Thanks! Thomas

And, I gave you both thumbs up and a good answer mark for helping out. Thanks so much!

Hi David,
Thanks so much for your message and for letting me know. OK - I am just trying to keep track of everything and I hope Moz works fine even though I've changed to HTTPS. I know it's taking Google awhile to get it all re-indexed and verified, but it seems to be working fine : ) OK - I'll check back here once things are re-processed this next week.
Thanks so much!

Hi Thomas
You do not have to create a new campaign for HTTP/HTTPS changes. Only if the subdomain or rootdomain is different.
Hope this helps

OK. I may have to wait and see. I'm getting the same Domain Authority reading, which is nice. But, not sure since at least in Moz my rankings have plummeted. I am not too worried about it since GWT seems to show everything as transferring over nicely. I may very well have to do a new campaign in Moz. They should make that easier! Thanks! Thomas

I had to do a new campaign.
I waited and mine did not crawl..

HTTPS (SSL) Error Encountered.
Hi guys, We received the following error from our Moz report, our hosting companies says it's isn't an issue but I wanted to get your feedback as it seems a bit odd. We recently moved eventfull.co.nz to a VPS and setup an EV SSL. We moved another site to the same VPS and added EV SSL and it isn't reporting any issue. Hosting companies feedback below error message | Crawl Error Error Code 804: HTTPS (SSL) Error Encountered Your page requires an SSL security certificate to load (using HTTPS), but the Moz Crawler encountered an error when trying to load the certificate. Our crawler is pretty standard, so it's likely that other browsers and crawlers may also encounter this error. If you have this error on your homepage, it prevents the Moz crawler (and some search engines) from crawling the rest of your site. | | I am just running some tests on the SSL cert installation now, but so far all appears to be fine. I've checked your .htaccess file and there is nothing that should be blocking them, and the logs show nothing unexpected or any SSL failures. SSL Labs test returns an A rating with no errors. One possibility (though, it's a long shot) is that we never increased the HSTS time beyond 3600, so it's possible that the crawler is failing because of this perceived insecurity. However, if there is some other issue going on, increasing the HSTS time would be a bad idea, so I suggest some further monitoring and testing. You may need to contact Moz about the issue and see if they can help. Is there any other evidence of SSL failing to load? Have you experienced any other issues, or is it only the Moz report that is indicating any problem? |

Moz Netiquette
It's now happened three times in three days: I get unsolicited email (apparently harvested from my Moz profile) that invites me to try a new product or contribute to a new site. The senders are completely unknown to me. The emails are full of hype, sketchy on details and poorly written. They have all the hallmarks of phishing scams. But on further inquiry the emails seem to be legit. I nonetheless feel entitled to confess my extreme exasperation. When did sending unsolicited mass email of the "Dear Colleague" variety to perfect strangers become acceptable business practice? It's always struck me as being beyond the pale and beneath contempt. Why would anyone try to launch a business which such dubious and unsavoury tactics? Am I missing something here? Or becoming a fuddy duddy? I suppose I could remove my contact info from my MOZ profile, but I have found it useful in the past. What surprises me is that people would contact me "out of the blue" to ask for free help without making the slightest attempt to cultivate a relationship first. Am I wrong?

MOZ Crawl help
Our MOZ report says it crawled 1800 pages so it reports a lot of errors based on those pages. We don't have that many pages on our site. What is MOZ crawling? I updated the profile to make sure it crawls the filtered page section of Google Analytics.
