I am looking for a lot of insight into my gaming site
We have been growing a ton on our social networks, but the site is not growing as quickly as we would like. We have a pretty decent back link portolio from being the first to break news, some unique pieces, a scholarship, etc.
But I would love another set of eyes on things. What could I do to drastically improve the site? To most improve its seo?

The backlinks are a problem. You have some obvious link networks on there, specifically:
top.ind.in options.pw submit.pw aahana.co.in toplist.space toplist.ws toplist.co.in url.firm.in alexa.in.net toplist.in.net
All of these are on the same IP. That's a whole lot of domains on one IP address that all link back to you - and that's not the only network set. I'm not sure how much the sitewides from zeldaeurope.de and vgchartz.com are helping you either. The zeldaeurope is listed as an "affiliate" with almost 80,000 dofollow links. Google may be seeing that as a paid footer link.
Homepage is a bit slow - 2.9 MB and over 8 sec load time on Pingdom.
Content - mentions the 3 main keywords - "zelda" "triforce" and "game" or "gaming" at least 300 combined times in the code. It's pretty high, I think. Especially given that your title has Zelda three times as well. We've found that 1 is best, 2 if you're separating with pipe - but 3 is usually too much. So between the two, a bit of a Panda bite.
I also see two major ads above the fold. One is for Forex, the other for a bank. A refresh shows me Careers Australia & a cloud security company. I mean the ads aren't even closely related. A gaming site with a big forex ad tells me there's an issue somewhere, as well.
Sorry I can't go further but as Matt said, you could always get someone to help you out outside the forum.

How is this site ranked so high on Google?
How on earth does "southeastasiatravelblog.com" rank No 3 on Google for "Asian travel blog"? It's just a collection of basically PR type travel articles. I have profiled its backlinks using Open Site Explorer and 71% of them are dead. The rest seem to be mostly "run of site" links from his other websites, which aren't particularly travel or Asia related. The highest PA for a live backlink to this site is a link from within his own website (PA 27, DA 15). Most of his backlink anchors are URLs and look fairly EMD to me. The site has few shares (6 FB shares, 7 FB likes, 1 Twitter share). So what makes it rank so highly for this phrase? My site I'm comparing against is "travelnasia.com" which is a fairly new domain with a DA 23, PA 31 and about the same amount of shares but far fewer backlinks at this stage because I recently changed URLs to shake off what might have been an algorithm penalty from Google. I am now receiving a growing level of Google search traffic again, but it's a long climb back. I'm looking at strategies, which is why I was checking out the site above.

Free tool which includes a link back to my site
On one of my sites I provide a free tool to other webmasters to use that allows them to copy some code to use the free tool on their website and under the tool on it says "Powered by: mysite.co.uk" with a link to "mysite.co.uk". Now I have no real control over which sites can come and use this free tool (a tool to test how fast an internet connection is), on the whole though it is aimed at a specific niche but a range of sites do use it which means good or crap sites can pick up the free code to place into their sites. The link to mysite.co.uk is now always mysite.co.uk as the anchor text, I used to use the websites name (which is the actual name of the URL - link to site at end of post) so the links were keyword rich but only to my sites genuine name, however I now just leave it as the URL to my site. I am not aiming to do anything untowards with the linking other than to get the acknowledgement that it was provided for free by my site, however I'm wondering if google etc will be able to tell they are natural and not dodgy? My site is: http://bit.ly/MsNQwS (n.b. a new improved test is being created before anyone says it's not accurate). 🙂

Advice for brand new site
Dear All I have been an SEO for several years now, and have just laucnhed a new site www.householdsaver.co.uk its in its early stages as I expect to add a community option where people post deals and offers they have found, share them with friends etc My question is really are all the old seo practices still worth doing? Things like directory sites, blog comments, articles sites, social bookmarking etc.... (I have already built up twitter users on the account before the site went live) With Moz's trust factor is it best to go for highrank trust sites first or... I guess you could say that I am suffering from what do I do first and is it all still worth doing and what are the early pit falls to think about..? ie too many links too soon and from to high or to low trusted sites? Any comments from anyone who have put a new site live in the past couple of years would be appricated. Thanks James
