How to update a crawl
-
Hi
I crawled my site, it found lots of errors and warning which i have fixed, I told seomoz to recrawl, and it says nothing has changed... It defiantly has though!
How do I make it see these changes?
-
Hi! You can do a crawl test on up to 3000 pages at http://pro.seomoz.org/tools/crawl-test that should help you out!

I believe if you delete the campaign and then reinstate it you'll get the initial 200 page crawl immediately but it will still take a week or so for the full results to come back.
This was one of the first questions I asked when we first signed up with SEOmoz as we had a monster 5,000 errors on our site and cleaning them all up while waiting a week between updates took a while.
Perhaps if you e-mail SEOmoz they may initiate a re-crawl manually however I think the response may be that you need to wait until the next crawl date - Sorry.

Hi
Is there no way to initiate a new crawl?
If i delete the campaign and re-add will this do it?
Its another 5 days until the next cruel and my designer will be away from tomorrow.
Regards
Chris

Alas SEOmoz will only crawl once a week. If you go in to your campaign manager you should be able to see the last crawl date and the next scheduled crawl date.
For example, in my account I see
'
Last Crawl Completed: Nov. 30th, 2012 Next Crawl Starts: Dec. 6th, 2012''
I hope this helps!

To change or not to change. DO we update our HTTP page to HTTPS? especially those with basic forms (phone, email, name)??
I recently went to a conference where a speaker strongly urged us to migrate to HTTPS before January 2017. I don't see any other sites referencing to make the switch before January 2017. whats the deal? 😉

Duplicate meta and title in Google Webmaster Tools not updated?
Our canonical tags were removed by mistake for some time and our duplicate meta and title warnings in Google webmaster tools html improvements went up. We fixed the issue a week ago. I made sure the sitemap is picking up the canonical URL. Still the number went up after we fixed it (from around 5000 to around 7000 now) but when I click on details, it shows around 2000 in detail page. How long does it take for Google to update this? RB

How much content does Google Crawl on your site?
Hi, We've had a debate around the office where some people believe that Google only crawls the first 150-200 words on a page and some people believe that they priority content that is above the fold and other people believe that all content has the same priority. Can you help us? Thanks,

What's the best way to handle crawling of photo gallery?
When you have a photo gallery with many search filters and loads and loads of pages, is it best to block all the filters and use google's pagination code? Ex: http://photo.net/gallery/photocritique/filter This site has pages for many different queries. While the page titles are unique, the pages are showing duplicated content.

Error is not going away and crawling
I have fixed an error but its still showing in red as error. Im totally new to SeoMoz and to SEO in general so im not sure how this tool works. Did I fix it correctly or not if its still showing? It was a broken link and now it links up to another page. Do I just have to wait? My website only has 8 pages and on the dashboard it says crawled 8 pages but it takes up to a week for a full crawl? Im really confused. Thank you in advanced!

Updating Old Posts
I have ~ 45 posts that I wrote 2-3 years ago that need to be updated with current information and I'm wondering if I should: Just update them Update them and change the date published to present day Publish the updated info. as a completely new post other? ... and why. I've read so many conflicting thoughts on this, really curious to hear what other Pro members think (or would do if it were them). To give a little more background, the topics of the posts are various retirement communities. Things that may have changed could be they added new amenities, new home types, prices, number of homes still available, etc. I have one page of my site that acts as sort of a directory linking to an article(post) for each community, but worried if I add all the updates as new posts I'll have to link to separate articles about each community which doesn't really make things too friendly for the reader. They want to know about what's going on with each community now...not back 3 years ago. Thoughts? Suggestions? Many thanks! Ryan

Does Frequency of content updates affect likelyhood outbound links will be indexed?
I have several pages on our website with low pr, that also themselves link to lots and lots of pages that are service/product specific. Since there are so many outbound links, I know that the small amount of PR will be spread thin as it is. My question is, if I were to supply fresh content to the top level pages, and change it often, would that influence whether or not google indexes the underlying pages? Also if I supply fresh content to the underlying pages, once google crawls them, would that guarantee that google considers them 'important' enough to be indexed" I guess my real question is, can freshness of content and frequency of update convince google that the underlying pages are 'worthy of being indexed', and can producing fresh content on those pages 'keep google's interest', so to speak, despite having little if any pagerank.
