Point an expired domain name to web page on website.
-
I've found an expired domain name with the words Electrical Inspection. its a .co.uk domain. Apparently this key word has a search query of over 1000 per 12 month. I was thinking of purchasing it and having it redirect to one of my pages which is for electrical installation condition reports which is basically an electrical inspection.
Is it worth purchasing and pointing to the page on my website (redirect) and how can I go about making it known to google? submit to webmaster tools and create a blog to do with EICR's?
thanks for any help and advice
Kev
ps I found it on https://www.expireddomains.net

If this domain has no backlinks pointing to it, then most likely the only benefit that it would give you would be for direct type-in traffic. In other words, if this is a url where people would regularly be visiting that url directly it could bring some visitors to your site.
But, if you're just buying it because it's an exact match domain and then forwarding it to a page on your site there is likely no SEO benefit at all.
-
For me if the other site has very few quality /relevant backlinks that will help and you are not planning on using the domain for brand purposes then there is very little need to link it up. I would instead look to concentrate on improving your own pages with the best content you can muster.
Having an exact match domain that is not being used as the primary sites URL will not likely add any value. I believe EMD don't really hold any value like they once did and it is more about the content, although some may disagree.
As it is a .co.uk however, you could still buy it to hold on to for the sake of a few pounds and possibly use it for a campaign URL used in adwords or on printed flyers.

It has been owned once. I also did a search on the old website content and I can see why they never had any look with it as it was really badly thought out with no seo in place.
-
How many times has it been owned and dropped? It might be possible that the domain has backlinks but all the sites are blocking the bots you're using to check. If it's been frequently picked up and dropped, then I would stay clear. You might be getting the trash after others have abused it.

Hi yes I've done an audit on the back links and currently it has none. It was registered in 2014 and has zero back links. That said I want to direct it to the page on my website and not the home page.
I need advice on how to implement this so I need a strategy if anyone can help.
301 redirect, Meta and meta title tag thats unique and not picked up by the current web page etc. Its something I've not done before. Also whats the best strategy for notifying search engines.
cheers - Kev

Before even thinking about this have you checked and looked into the backlink profile of this domain and performed some kind of audit, there could be a whole heap of nasty links still pointing at the site just waiting to be reignited which may potentially do some harm. On the flip side, it could also be a boost if they are good sources of relevance. But perform some due diligence on the domain before pointing anywhere..

How do I optimize my online directory website?
I am starting a directory website. The biggest issue that I am having is trying to figure out which keywords to use and how to optimize for them. I am using Wordpress and we have overall category pages, such as Hair & Beauty. And then we have filters for users to reach subcategories such as, Skincare. My problem is that these subcategories are not actual pages, when the filter is used it just returns businesses within that category that have been marked to show for that filter. The URL doesn't change or it doesn't take you to a new page. So, I am trying to determine how do I optimize for my subcategory keywords if these aren't technically pages?

What do you do with indexed pages that you can't find any keywords for?
You know those pages that you really need to have for your site that most people get to through the nav bar or maybe internal linking, but never through organic search? The ones where you can't find any applicable keywords with volume or even just a keyword with no volume data that just shows up in the Google autocomplete or People Also Search For. What's the better option? just not optimize the page for any keywords at all, but have Title Tag/Meta Description optimized for CTR just in case OR optimize the page for a very loosely applicable keyword even though it's a a bit of stretch or longshot

How to Begin a Web Page
Hi Mozers, At the beginning of a web page, is it better to have a linked Table of Contents of sorts to begin the page (bulleted list of topics that the page addresses that are made up of jump links to different parts of the page) or just start the page with sentences of content? Is one approach better for SEO? Thanks, Yael

My home page doesn't rank for its brand keyword
I'm wondering why my website www.travelnasia.com home page URL does not rank in the top 50 for the brand keyword "travelnasia". Does this indicate a problem? A page linking to my site ranks at No 1. A domain listing for my site ranks No 2. A SiteJabber review of my site ranks No 3. My own privacy page ranks #4 and my Contact Us page ranks No 5. My home page is nowhere to be seen in the top 50. It does rank #1 for the qualified domain "travelnasia.com", just not for the unqualified domain. I just don't know what to make of that. My competitors all seem to rank #1 for their brands, so I'm not sure why I don't at least rank in the top 50 for mine.

New domain name, better to put the activity in the domain ?
Hello, I'm working on a new dance school website. They already have their domain name .ae but the .com is not available. I was wondering in this case how could it would be to work on a domain like name-dance-school.com instead of name.ae In thie case .ae is very good as they just work on the uae. But I think that name-dance-school will definitely help them to rank better. Has anyone ever face this situation ? Best regards.

Number of keywords to optimise per web page?
Hi Guys, I am new to SEOmoz and just finding my way around the site. I currently have two websites up both in wordpress and both using SEO Yoast for keyword / page analysis. SEO Yoast software basically only allows you to have 1 page / blog post optimised for 1 keyphrase. If you try to put the same keyphrase in 2 + times for different pages or posts then Yoast flags it up as not good for SEO purposes. Is this correct? Also how do massive websites go on when previously they would have optimised many web pages / blogs for the same keywords?

My Houzz Photo is Beating My Website in the SERPS
We were #3 for a keyword and now we are #4, oddly now Houzz.com is #2 and #3. The #3 slot is our photo on Houzz I optimized for our keyword. Should I dump the photo on Houzz? Since it is beating me on that keyword? The #2 slot is query for my keywords but we don't appear on that page. Thoughts?:) Thanks.

Excluding my domain from search statistics
I would like to exclude my own domain from seach statisics- so when I search the numbers are not reflected in the various search engines. Do I need to register the domain in each search engine to do that? Thanks!
