Discrepancy between backlinks (opensiteexplorer vs. search console)
-
Hey there,
when I check in search console for "Links to your site" and "your most linked content" I see incoming links pointing to the wrong (country and language) subdirectory? When I check those same backlinks with opensiteexplorer they seem to point (after redirects) to the correct subdirectory. Anyone out there with similar experiences or thoughts on this? I would be happy to give access to search console if you wanted to have a look at this.
Cheers,
Jochen

Thanks Jordan and Eric for your input. In the meantime I've gotten a response from JohnMu in the Webmaster Central Help Forum. Apparently it has to do with duplicate content on our website: "We're taking some of these duplicates, and folding them into a single URL."

Hi Jochen! Are you able to supply any more information for Eric?

Search Console is a sample set of your links, much like OSE is a sampling of your overall link profile. Google won't show you all your links, so its best to use multiple sources to try and piece together the puzzle.
It seems like you're saying the reported links are pointing to the wrong subdirectory but when checked manually they are correct "after redirects" to the appropriate page. Can you explain that a little more? Have you redirected URLs on your site to new pages? Curious to know what kind of redirects you're seeing.

I'm afraid that I don't have enough experience with Google Search Console to comment on why those links might be displaying differently than expected. If at any point you need any extra help looking through Open Site Explorer's results, feel free to pop some URLs in here or send them straight over to help@moz.com.

Is BigCommerce a good CMS for Improving Search Visibility for our E-Commerce Business?
We have recently moved from Wordpress to BigCommerce and have noticed a decline in our Search Visibility score on MOZ. Following the recommendations of IT consultants, we were under the impression that moving to BigCommerce would significantly improve our Search Visibility. We were wondering if there is anyone out there who is currently using or have used BigCommerce and had similar issues? Any personal reviews/recommendations would be much appreciated! 🙂 Thanks!

Backlink of competitor inner page
How to understand from where the link to a competitor's internal page http://www.exampledomain.com/contest/book are coming? I mean, we want promote the same "event" but we want understanding where the competitor is already present. Open Site Explorer doesn't have any data for the website listed but I'm sure that the page has a lot of backlinks (I've verified the first 50 manually in Google.it) Many Thanks for all your advices.

I'm shocked! KEYWORD SERPs: GA avg. position vs. SEOmoz
SEOmoz has us our position for a particular keyword as "Not in Top 50". The same keyword is listed in GA with an average position of. 3.0. What am I missing here? When I do a search, I most definitely am not seeing us listed as #3 for this keyword, and tend to believe the SEOmoz number, but why is it so wildly different in GA? Should I have hope? There is another keyword that SEOmoz has us at #4 and it isn't even on the GA list. Can anyone explain this to me? Many thanks.

Question about SEOMoz Pro and Root Domain vs. Subdomain tracking
I currently have two Pro campaigns set up. They are both tracking the root domains of two different e-commerce sites. I also am tracking three competitors for each company, in each campaign. I have those set up by subdomains, like so www.Competitor.com. So in my Historical link analysis I am getting MyRootDomain.com, compared to www.competitor1.com, www.competitor2.com and www.competitor3.com Is this a problem? Would it be better for me to switch my company campaigns to track subdomains too, or to switch my competitor tracking to root domains. This is probably pretty rudimentary, but it never even occurred to me until just now. I realize that if I switch to subdomains for my own company tracking this would necessitate setting up a completely new campaign. This would be a problem because I am maxed out on my 1,000 keywords. Last but not least, does the fact that I have been tracking my own site root domains compared to competitors subdomains mean all of my competitive domain and link analysis is, well, garbage?...because I haven't really been comparing the same things?

Google updated their algorithm. How up to date is OpenSiteExplorer's Domain and Page authority?
Hi guys, as we all know, Google Panda update is here and it changed how they rank inbound links and the linkers domain and page authority. But when I look at OpenSiteExplorer's results, I cant see a difference in the page and domain authority. Why is that?

What are followed vs non-followed links in Domain Analyis report?
I'm new to SEOMoz and wondering if some nice person can put this into plain English for me? 🙂 On the Competitive Domain Analysis report there are green follow / no-follow links and blue followed / non-followed linking root domains? what is the context of the green & blue circles? is there a better or worse visual representation that I should aim for - more dark green, more light green or about half & half. thanks in advance

Haver ever seen opensiteexplorer be way off?
What is the deal with this: http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/links?site=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.selfstoragestartup.com Based on the links it is showing, there is no way in hell that it should have a domain authority that high. What am i missing here? There is practically nothing on this site, and hardly any backlinks, yet OSE thinks it has a huge PA and DA!?
