Seo industry for seasonal items
-
Just wondering what type of link building people do for seasonal sites take http://www.sukkahworld.com or http://www.wreathsgalore.com as an example
Out of season nobody wants to talk about a Christmas wreath.
Do you just a get links off topic or focus on on site content and then get all your links during your season?
-
Nobody ever knows for sure what their competitors are doing.... so take this comment as a "suspicion" rather than a fact.......
I have a site that sells items that are really popular at Christmas. It usually ranks really well from about February through October... then the same few competitors jump above me for the Christmas season then drop several places in the SERPs shortly after New Year.
I believe that they buy a big load of temporary links that are displayed starting about September 1 and are taken down at the end of December. This gives them the big boost in the SERPs for Christmas but does not have those links in their profile all year long which could flag them for manipulation.
Just sayin' what I think.

Get creative. Take on topics that do deal with Christmas year 'round, but in a relevant and creative way. Most importantly, take a look at how your competition takes on the topic of Christmas wreaths year 'round. Make it fun. There's always "Christmas in July" and a bunch of other fun ways to integrate the topic of Christmas wreaths throughout the year.
-
yes but take http://www.sukkahworld.com what real site is linking about them now?
-
no link building is an ongoing process and it takes time for Google to give you credit for links and the longer they are up there the better they are. So even if no one is looking for chrstmas wreaths in july your site should still be ranking for that term all year round. You could kick it up a notch a few months before the season though and promote heavily on FB and social media sites. Maybe even adwords dare i say.
There are tons of all year round christmas shops now so relevant linking should not be impossible. Also there are other types of wreaths like grave wreaths that maybe the business could go into?

Does social media presence + inbound links outweigh bad SEO?
Some of our competitors have SEO errors in the thousands, yet rank much higher than us for keywords that we're targeting. The SEO errors are duplicate content, titles, and 404 errors. We've successfully nailed down much of our SEO issues to a bare minimum, although not eliminated them completely, so we're at a loss as to why we aren't gaining much ground. From what we can tell, the difference between us and them is they have a large amount of inbound links to their site plus popular social media presence. Can it be inferred from this that an active social media presence and large inbound link count outweigh bad SEO practices? What else should we be looking for to help pinpoint why we're not gaining rank with the keywords we're targeting?

IP and SEO
We have a lot sites we've built sitting on the same IP as our web site. Given that a lot of web companies rely quite heavily on the backlinks they get from their clients (some rather dubious footer links are common in this space), are we getting the most out of these valuable backlinks by sharing the same IP?

HELP - Should I Disavow SEO, Site Analysis, and Website Worth Links?
I have a gadget site and have MANY links to my site from sites that offer web analysis or SEO tools. For example, the site chkme.com has over 1,000 links to my home page. I don't know who they are, why they are linking to my site, and their site is irrelevant to my industry. Should I disavow links from sites like these? My site seems to be linked to from a lot of "website worth" type sites as well. I think I may have been hit with an unnatural site penalty but I do NO blackhat or any type of link building whatsoever. Thanks in advance 😉

I want to design SEO link building strategy for my website? Is wordpress.com, squidoo, tumblr, blogger, typepad - Good option for link building?
I am currently concentrating on 8 keywords, for e.g (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H). I will be writing blogs with 2 of any related keywords present in it. I am thinking to post 5 blogs on 5 different platforms as (wordpress.com, Squidoo, Typepad, Tumblr, blogger) respectively. I am thinking a strategy as: Monday: Keyword A,B on Wordpress/ C,D on Squidoo/E,F on Typepad/G,H on Blogger/ A,C on Tumblr. Tuesday:C,D on Wordpress/E,F on Squidoo/ etc.... and will rotate these keywords through out the week and the cycle restarts on Monday. The URL for every keyword will be different and relevant to that keyword. I need quick suggestion on this topic..Please..

Do inbound links to download .exe files improve SEO?
The site, (http://www.bartenderbarcodesoftware.com/) sells barcode software. They also provide free printer drivers on their site. During a recent domain change (before I started helping them), they began looking at their inbound links and found quite a few external sites linking to these download files. However, when someone clicks on the link on one of these sites (i.e. http://vvs-motor.com.ua/barcode-printer-drivers) it immediately begins downloading the file (i.e. http://www.seagullscientific.com/downloads/drivers/archive/7.2/7.2.4/Unimark_7.2.4.exe) without taking the visitor to the site. The owner would greatly prefer this traffic to engage with the site and is considering 301 redirecting those download links to an actual webpage. Question: Would this look suspicious to Google? Would this have a positive or negative effect on SEO? The last factor to consider is that many of these sites will likely just recreate the list based on the new links at some future point. Thanks for any help!

Ideas needed for onsite SEO
Hi, What sort of activity 'onsite' should I be doing to increase SEO? I was thinking of a FAQ's section with 1 anchor text link in the body of the answer going back to my target page. Will the increase in content along with the anchor text inside of it help increase SERP's? I was also thinking maybe use the keyword tool to find search queries which revolve around questions with high search so for example 'How to change a tyre' answering this question in my FAQ's section and running PPC to it, then wrapping lots of sharing tools around it in the hope it generates some social signals. Anyone got any hidden onsite gems they think might help? Cheers

Importance of Wikipedia in SEO
We are thinking about authoring a number of articles for several newspapers around the country and hope that they will be published in both print and online editions. The purpose would be to gain a Wikipedia page about our business with established references. Has anyone seen any positive effects by implementing this type of strategy?
