Content Writing - it should be for the main corporate site, blog or for social media?
-
Hi There,
I have my main site : example.com
and
a related blog https://blog.example.com/
My management does not believe frequent content posting on the example.com
My Queries
1- Will it help boost ranking of **example.com **if we share frequent content on our blog https://blog.example.com/? How much impact it has?
2- Every body says content is the king, Ok fine, but when you are not allowed to share it on the main corporate site, then where to share it? Blog and social media sites? please help.
3- We are in a business where clients do not bother to go on sites and read, so in this scenario is it correct to say that you hav to create the content for search engine consumption even when your clients dont need it/or have not in the habit of reading it?
Hope somebody will enligten me caught in catch 22.
Regards
Tanveer

I will share about my case and how my business do.
1. We have two site that is http://litextension.com/ and http://blog.litextension.com/
In each site, we set up many paths to other site. We create site blog after main site a long time. However, we focus on content on site blog, almost indexes of http://blog.litextension.com/ are higher than http://litextension.com/ . Then, we add a lot of dofollow link on site blog, which leads to the main site. They are support together.
2. We creates many satellite sites to drive traffic to main site and blog site. Of course, we use social media site maximum.

Hi Patrick and Kane thanks for your insights, got some lead to work forward. Thanks again

Posting new content to blog.corporate.com is still better than publishing nothing at all. For SEO it won't help www.corporate.com as much as www.corporate.com/blog/ would help, but SEO is not the #1 goal of every content program.
You can still get tons of value from driving qualified traffic to blog.corporate.com using tactics like Facebook Ads and other paid social media, and that blog can still rank in search results and eventually drive prospects back to www.corporate.com. As Patrick mentioned, creating links in blog posts that point back to key pages on www.corporate.com will help on the SEO consideration.
So to answer your questions:
1 - Will it help boost ranking of example.com if we share frequent content on our blog https://blog.example.com/? How much impact it has?
Yes, but good internal linking will be help. It has less impact than if you were to get that content onto www.example.com/blog/.
2- Everybody says content is the king, Ok fine, but when you are not allowed to share it on the main corporate site, then where to share it? Blog and social media sites? please help.
Subdomain is next best option if a subfolder on the main site is not an option. So, post content on blog.corporate.com - and then share that link on social media.
3- We are in a business where clients do not bother to go on sites and read, so in this scenario is it correct to say that you hav to create the content for search engine consumption even when your clients dont need it/or have not in the habit of reading it?
In most 'boring' industries there are still decent ways to get users on to the website reading your content, you just have to be more creative. Here's a few posts with ideas and examples:

Hi there
To answer your first question, yes. Posting content to your website and on your blog will definitely help boost rankings and visibility for your main site, especially with relevant topics, distribution, and internal linking. Here are some ideas...
-
Do some research
-
What information is missing in your industry?
-
What are users actively searching for?
-
Where are they currently participating in conversation?
-
What language do they use in search and those discussions?
-
How do they digest their content?
-
Here's a quick resource on content gap analysis from Edge Multimedia
-
Take advantage of great tools like Open Site Explorer and SEMRush to get a handle on your competition and what's working / not working for them
-
Build out content on the site based on your research
-
Mind your obvious onsite SEO fundamentals (titles / meta descriptions / schema / content length and language / etc.) (resource)
-
Lay your site architecture out in an easy to use / understand fashion (Information Architecture for SEO)
-
Repurpose content through video / images / guides / e-books / how-tos / etc
-
Take advantage of internal site search functionality
-
What are users searching for on your site?
-
Distribute that content through social platforms / industry blogs / email marketing
-
You can try social paid advertising (based on target audience)
-
Also look into posting on Linked with a tagged URL giving credit to the original post on site

Q&As
Where you share content will heavily depend on your audience and where they are. If you're a medical business and sharing content through hair styling mediums, you're not going to have much luck. Know your audience, know what they want, write the content, and distribute/share properly. Get involved!
I'm also interested that your audience doesn't go on sites and read content - is that true? Do you have proof of it? Could it be that you're not distributing your content in the right area? I'd look at your referral traffic and social traffic and see where your pitfalls are in analytics. Are they taking the next logical step in your content? Are they taking actions you want them to take? Are they bouncing off your site? If you can answer those, you can start to see what you need to improve on!
But never give up on getting people to your site - it's your brand and your internet home - make it inviting and provide incentive for users to engage and act on content!
Hope this helps! Good luck!

Content Creation For Blog & Ranking Locally
Hey Everyone, I'm trying to rank for specific long tail key words such as: lower back pain treatment exercises lower back surgery options herniated disc exercises and etc. My question is: If I create a blog or article on these key words and integrate content and video within it and on youtube, will these blog posts come up locally when someone searches it within my area?

Writing <200 word pieces of content in a 7.5 hour day
My employer has a content writer who is currently working on writing unique descriptions for many pages, on the order of around 150-200 words per piece of content. A recurring theme in this content is to write a list of features such as "it does X, X, X, X, X and X", which can sometimes happen a couple of times during the content and takes up a decent chunk of wording. This content does not require in-depth research over and above reading the about us page of some sites and looking at what services they provide, as well as some quick details like their payment and delivery methods etc. As well as that the writer also writes the Meta Description and then uploads these to a CMS. There are no other tasks. Considering the writer is doing this 5 days a week, 7.5 hours a day, and isn't getting paid a poor or trainee-type wage, what would you say would be an acceptable amount to achieve on the average day? The current average works out to around, or slightly less than 8 of these pieces of content each day. Thoughts?

Blogging for Clients
Hello, I need some tips I think. I create content for my clients blog through research and I try to understand fully their product or service so that I can write about it and promote it. But is this enough, do you think, to be able to write good quality content? I will obviously never be as knowledgeable as they are about their product or service. Does anyone have any tips or approaches for writing content in areas they are unfamiliar with? What do others do to create blog posts for clients? Thanks

Tools to created embedded content...
Wondering if anyone has done this before,, this so, would they mind sharing the best approach please. To cut a long story short, one of our seo client is a free UK internet safety resource, backed by (but independent from the UK Govt), the site is heavily talked about by sites such as BBC, Guardian and many more newspapers and as a result the domain authority is creeping up to 90 - Oh to be given the chance to monetise a site with DA 90!!! As you can imagine, with the quality of the links the site picks up, the ranking of content on the site can be fairly easy, but the one problem we are facing is that of sites 'borrowing' our content. These sites tend not to be small bedroom bloggers, but rather all kinds of sites. We have seen our content on UK University websites, Police websites and many more whom should know better. Obviously this is hurting the 'borrower' more than us with regard to duplicate content but it would still be good to get some credit for our work without having to keep hunting the sites down and emailing back and forth. We don't need the credit for backlink purposes but would be nice to have people know we read it incase they want to read more. A solution I have pondered is to create embed options, as per youtube et al. Instead of sites having to copy our content to list it, they can still include our content on their site and avoid any duplicate content issues. As I believe the embedded content will be called from our site (I think that's how a youtube video works) our site would also get the read stats on the content regardless of where is it located. We are hoping that this could become a great content distribution tool, we don't need people to come to our site as the site is non profit, has no advertising but we need to justify the resources we get by showing how many people are reading what we publish. We are never going to be able to stop sites using our content so, like the music industry and itunes, if we can find a legal way to do it then we can all benefit. My main question, yes, I do actually have one!!!, is two fold. Is it possible to create embed for whole articles and am i right in my thinking that if our content is on Jeff's Blog and loaded as an embed then the hit on the content is still reflected in our stats as the content is being pulled from our url? Sorry for the excessively long way of explaining this, any feedback is welcomed, even 'don't do it, it's stupid idea'!!

What Content to Write - Hot Topic or More Niche Related?
Hi, Just for example, say you've got a shoe store but shoes are a non-searched-for topic on the informational side. Say fashion models or teenybopper shoppers are both hot topics. Would you recommend writing an article - one of the site's five >2000 word articles on a hot area of the hot topics? Or would you just stick to shoes topics? If you do write on the hotter topics, how does the shoe store owner write on these - they're out of his area of expertise? Does he need a content writer?

Is this dulplicate content causing me problems
Hi, i am going to try and explain this as best as possible as i am not used to working with k2 that much. What i have as an example is a page which is here http://www.in2town.co.uk/Cheap-Flights-Ryanair-News This page is news about ryanair now because i am working in joomla and i am working with k2, and i am also making each landing page a front page, i am having problems. For people who do not use joomla i will explain. For the ryanair page which is a front page, i have to make a category and that category for all my content to go into is called ryaniar-news. Now i have the page above which is for ryanair news but the problem i have got is, because i have a category it brings up all the content as a blog format. so for example here is the category section in blog format. http://www.in2town.co.uk/news/ryaniar-news Now i have managed to make sure that the articles are not showing but it brings up the title of the pages and i am worried that this will be seen as duplicate content and will damage the main page of http://www.in2town.co.uk/Cheap-Flights-Ryanair-News I may have set everything up wrong i am not sure but if i have i would be glad if someone can tell me the right way to do it. I do not like the blog format and that is why i use a front page set up so i can have my layout the way i want it. Can anyone please explain if my set up will damage the main ryanair news page or what i need to do to sort it out please.

For a consumer facing blog, how often do you recommend updating content to develop good rankings? I understand that it's really dependent upon the niche/competition, but what are some best practices? Content is expensive. Thanks
