Issues with Sitelinks

Hey Everyone,
I found a couple threads where this was asked, but unfortunately I haven't seen any responses that explain it yet.
My issue is with the sitelinks Google is choosing for a section of my website; they're using wrong/lowercase anchor text for a couple of the page titles that isn't anywhere on the page or in the backend that I can find (see screenshot).
Any thoughts/reasons as to why they'd be using the lowercase text there?

Thanks for the answers! I actually found out it had to do with a subheadline that was in all caps in the articles that was coming through. SEO, the neverending puzzle...

I see a similar thing happening and in it looks like Google doesn't pick the title for the Sitelink, but instead Google picks my URL.
So for example where my <title>on a page can be "Contact us by sending us an email or just call us", it is correctly displayed in a non-site link situation in Google, but in a site link situation the title suddenly is displayed as "Contact", because my URL is example.com<strong>/contac</strong>t</p> <p>The same happens for the site link title "About [company name]" where the URL is example.com<strong>/about-[company-name]</strong>.</p> <p>BTW, in your case it looks like Google is picking the H1 tag in a way.</p> <p>Hope this helps.</p> <p>André</p></title>

Unfortunately, you're in a tough spot here. Google no longer gives you the ability to have demote specific sitelinks. When it comes to page titles, Google often rewrites them as they see fit. You cannot prevent them from ignoring or editing a specific page title.
I have seen the following two things have a major impact on Google's decision to alter existing title tags.
- Title Tag Length: If your title tag is too long, Google often chooses to truncate it as they see fit or choose body content related to the query.
- Anchor Text: If you can find any internal or external anchor text links that point at those pages with that punctuation style, try to get them updated to the punctuation you want.

Current Sitelinks Refresh/Removal timeframe?
Hi All, Did good chunk of research here prior to posting on sitelinks. Tried the Webmaster Console to remove the links Tried removing via sitemap, WP SEO plugin removal Now removed unnecessary pages, and redirected to homepage. Re petitioned for removal via Webmaster Google Console area. Whats been the recent conservative realistic estimate of when sitelinks will be removed/refreshed? Also any tricks to expedite recrawl or re build of sitelinks. The site has very low traffic SMB that uses site purely for portfolio and no ranking/traffic purposes. so maybe the priority is very low for this site. Back in the day sitelinks were a lot easier to manage or so it seems. Thoughts?

May Faceted Navigation via ajax #parameter cause duplicated content issues?
We are going to implement a faceted navigation for an ecommerce site of about 1000 products.

Faceted navigation is implemented via ajax/javascript which adds to the URL a large number of #parameters.
Faceted pages are canonicalizing to page without any parameters. We do not want google to index any of the faceted pages at this point. Will google include pages with #parameters in their index?
Can I tell google somehow to ignore #parameters and not to index them?
Could this setup cause any SEO problems for us in terms of crawl bandwidth and or link equity?0 -
How to solve our duplicate content issue? (Possible Session ID problem)
Hi there, We've recently took on a new developer who has no experience in any technical SEO and we're currently redesigning our site www.mrnutcase.com. Our old developer was up to speed on his SEO and any technical issues we never really had to worry about. I'm using Moz as a tool to go through crawl errors on an ad-hoc basis. I've noticed just now that we're recording a huge amount of duplicate content errors ever since the redesign commenced (amongst other errors)! And is this something that needs to be fixed urgently? This problem has never happened before so i'm hoping it's an easy enough fix. Look forward to your responses and greatly appreciate the help. Site Redesign Inconsistent Trailing Slash Issue
I'm looking at a site that has implemented trailing slashes inconsistently across multiple pages. For instance:

Looking at the inbound links unsurprisingly the lions share go to the home page but lots of other pages have links as well, particularly the product pages, no to many to the blog pages. This pattern is similar in terms of which pages rank, the home page ranks well for a variety of phrases, the product pages also do quite well. I know that ideally the URL's should be identical to the existing site, or if you have to you should 301 redirect old to new. The client wants to switch the whole site over to Wordpress which will be default implement a consistent URL structure across the board, thereby changing at least some of the URL's no matter what I do. I remember a Matt Cutts video that stated that even a 301 redirect will loose a clicks worth of link juice see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Filv4pP-1nw The existing site has a poor UX compared to the new proposed design so this should help us. Dealing with close content - duplicate issue for closed products
Hello I'm dealing with some issues. Moz analyses is telling me that I have duplicate on some of my products pages. My issue is that: Concern very similar products IT products are from the same range Just the name and pdf are different Do you think I should use canonical url ? Or it will be better to rewrite about 80 descriptions (but description will be almost the same) ? Best regards.

How to fix issues regarding URL parameters?
Today, I was reading help article for URL parameters by Google. http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=1235687 I come to know that, Google is giving value to URLs which ave parameters that change or determine the content of a page. There are too many pages in my website with similar value for Name, Price and Number of product. But, I have restricted all pages by Robots.txt with following syntax. URLs:

Large Site SEO - Dev Issue Forcing URL Change - 301, 302, Block, What To Do?
Hola, Thanks in advance for reading and trying to help me out. A client of mine recently created a large scale company directory (500k+ pages) in Drupal v6 while the "marketing" type pages of their site was still in manual hard-coded HTML. They redesigned their "marketing" pages, but used Drual v7. They're now experiencing server conflicts with both instances of Drupal not allowing them to communicate/be on the same server. Eventually the directory will be upgraded to Drupal v7, but could take weeks to months the client does not want to wait for the re-launch. The client wants to push the new marketing site live, but also does not want to ruin the overall SEO value of the directory and have a few options, but I'm looking to help guide them down the path of least resistance: Option 1: Move the company directory onto a subdomain and the "marketing site" on the www. subdomain. Client gets to push their redesign live, but large scale 301s to the directory cause major issues in terms of shaking up the structure of the site causing ripple effects into getting pulled out of the index for days to weeks. Rankings and traffic drop, subdomain authority gets lost and the company directory health looks bad for weeks to months. However, 301 maintains partial SEO value and some long tail traffic still exists. Once the directory gets moved to Drupal v7, the directory will then cancel the 301 to the subdomain and revert back to original www. subdomain URLs Option 2: Block the company directory from search engines with robots.txt and meta instructions, essentially cutting off the floodgates from the established marketing pages. No major scaling 301 ripple effect, directory takes a few weeks to filter out of the index, traffic is completely lost, however once drupal v7 gets upgraded and the directory is then re-opened, directory will then slowly gain back SEO value to get close to old rankings, traffic, etc. Option 3: 302 redirect? Lose all accumulate SEO value temporarily... hmm Option 4: Something else? As you can see, this is not an ideal situation. However, a decision has to be made and I'm looking to chose the lesser of evils. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks again -Chris
