Is AMP works on blogs only?
-
I have installed AMP Plugin in my WordPress website but when I check pages with /amp/ it shows 404 error. But for blog pages, for the example www.website.com/blog/post/amp/ it shows amp version of the particular page.
Also, nothing is showing in search console Accelerate Moile pages.

Yes, the WordPress plugin is only able to serve blog pages, no Pages, Categories or a Homepage in WordPress (unfortunately). Besides that the AMP Project itself can support more pages, like ones for Ecommerce.

Hi Stephanie,
If you're using the same WP plugin I have installed on my personal site, then yes, that is for blog posts only. I've been waiting for them to push an update that includes other content types, but nothing yet. AMP can be applied to any page on your site, just not as easily as blog content.
Regarding Search Console, it takes a while for them to index. Go into the source code of the non-AMP version of one of your posts and make sure there's a rel="amphtml" tag that points to the AMP version of that same URL. Without that, it's basically impossible for search engine bots to discover your AMP content.
Hope that's helpful, good luck!

AMP for Online Forums/Communities
This great article by Eric Enge makes a compelling case for jumping to AMP for news sites, but does anyone have any data or have heard of an online forum using AMP as well? I run an online community and we are thinking of making the (relatively heavy) investment into making most of our pages AMP friendly... Thank you! Patrick

Redirect question | new blog install on subdomain
Hi, I am running a wordpress site and our blog has grown to have a bit of a life of its own. I would like to use a more blog-oriented wordpress theme to take advantage of features that help with content discoverability, which is what the current theme I'm using doesn't really provide. I've seen sites like Canva, Mint and Hubspot put their blog on a subdomain, so the blog is sort of a separate site within a site. Advantages I see to this approach: Use a separate wordpress theme Help the blog feel like its own site and increase user engagement Give the blog its own name and identity My questions are: Are there any other SEO ramifications for taking this approach? For example, is a subdomain (blog.mysite.com) disadvantageous somehow, or inferior to to mysite.com/article-title? Regarding redirects, I read a recent Moz article about how 301s now do not lose page rank. I would also be able to implement https when I redirect, which is a plus. Is this an ok approach? Assuming I have to create redirect rules manually for each post though Thanks!

How to create AMP Pages for product website?
How to create AMP Pages for product website? I mean we can create it easily when we have wordpress through plugin, what about when we have millions of pages, It would be too tedious to create amp version of every page. So, is there any alternative way to create amp version?

Sponsored blog - pass any link juice?
Hello there, If a quality blog in our specific niche writes an article about us which is clearly labelled "sponsored post" as we have either paid them or given them a product, will Google discount that link going back to our website? Should we request for the link to be "no-follow"? Thanks Robert

International SEO, Ecommerce & Rich Snippets
I have an Australian Ecommerce site. I also sell to NZ and USA . As part of the user experience it will detect where you are and change the currency accordingly. so when google crawls - the currency will always be USD I guess ( because it is a US IP address ). My question - how can I embed ecommerce microdata that will show the correct currency / price to the correct country in SERPS ?

Under-performing blog as part of main site
Hi I was hoping to get some thoughts and opinions on our blog. It is part of our main site (not on a subdomain) but performs very badly, pulling in very little organic traffic (only accounting for 0.6% of our organic traffic). Every page of the blog is listed in our sitemap, and using Screaming Frog I've done spot checks of several pages to see if they are indexed, which they have been. Looking at Google's text cache, all the content is visible. Pages are often well shared on social media (for example): http://www.naturalworldsafaris.com/blog/2014/10/antarctica-photography-safari-2014-updates.aspx I'm aware that we do need more links coming into the blog but I still feel that it should be performing better than it is. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Redirecting a working dynamic URI to a new static format
Hi all I am having some issues rearding url rewrites and 301 redirects with 1 and 1 hosting and am unsure of the best approach. The website is a custom made shopping cart system with categories and products. The current urls for categories are : index.php?l=product_list&c=1 The new url format required is : /banner-stands After a little bit of research I added the following into the htaccess file; Options +FollowSymlinks
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | vividwebdesign
AddType x-mapp-php5 .php RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / RewriteRule ^banner-stands/?$ index.php?l=product_list&c=1 [R=301,NC,L] Which works but I have a few questions Question 1: Is this the best approach as there are 55 categories and 179 products to write redirects for Question 2: Or is it better to firstly add id=banner-stands into the url and then create 301 redirects to the new url and then rewrite the url. Thanks0 -
Do Nofollows still work for Sculpting?
Before answering this, let me explain my goals. I know that Google made a change a couple years ago that discounts the amount of Page Rank passed to dofollow links when there is a nofollow link present on the page. My goal is to keep the most page rank possible on my home page and pass a specified amount of Page Rank to 7 out of 10 of the pages linked to from my home page. I realize that creating 3 of the outgoing links as no follow links is not going to increase the Page Rank being sent to the other 7 pages. My question is will my home page be able to retain the Page Rank that would have been used by the three nofollow links or is that Page Rank value just lost when I implement a nofollow?
