Should I leave away the http when using the canonical tag
-
My site redirects http://www.anydomainblabla.com to www.anydomainblabla.com
So I guess I have to do it like this
Is that correct?
Big thanks for your time.

When using the canonical ensure you use the full URL. There are multiple protocols that can be addressed at a domain, for example, ftp, so including the http:// would be best practise.
A side note about canonicals, if in the future you are planning on moving to https then ensure you update your canonicals. Depending on how you currently deploy your website; WordPress etc, you could use a simple php script to store a variable of protocol which will change globally if the file is updated.

I'm a bit confused. The http part is the protocol. You sometimes don't see it written out in the URL bar when you are on a page, but it is still there. For your canonical, use the whole thing, including the http. You can read more about it here.

I see a lot of content theft from my site short-funny.com. And they rank better for my jokes that I wrote. So if somebody copy the whole website Google will know that my site is the right one. Plus the Moz analysis showed that I should use it. I need somehow to stop content scrapers.

Hi Michael,
I assume you are using 301 for redirects http://www.anydomainblabla.com to www.anydomainblabla.com, If yes what is the purpose of using rel="canonical". If not please let us know.
Thanks

Product Tag Value on SEO
Do product tags for ecommerce sites have any benefit to SEO? Or are they redundant? i.e. thespacecollective.com/astronaut-moldavite-pendant (tags appear below the product name on the right)

Best way to give away rank?
We have a set of branded and unbranded keywords that we want our product site to rank very high for. Right now, our support site owns the first page of rankings for most of the keywords we care about. What is the most efficient way to give the rank currently enjoyed by our support site to our product site? Both have very high domain authority and tons of backlinks. Here are some factors that might apply: Support site has lots of copy including these keywords, while product site doesn't (yet) Support site doesn't currently include a lot of links to the product site (and vice versa) They're on the same domain -- support is at support.domain.com, product is on www.domain.com Support site has many more pages and their URLs are more semantically related to keywords I know there are lots of structural improvements implied by the above -- on the product site, increase the amount of copy (and landing pages) focused on keywords and significantly improve internal links, etc. But I'm wondering if the fact we control both sites gives us any options we wouldn't have in a competitive situation?

Using Canonical Tags on Every Page
I'm doing competitive research and noticed that one of our competitors (who outranks us) uses canonical tags on every page on their site. The canonical tags reference the page they are on. For example. www.competitor.com/product has a canonical tag of www.competitor.com/product. Does anyone use this practice? It seems strange to me. Thank you, Kristen

Blank Title and Description Tags
Hi guys. Some times web platforms that I do work on have pages that I normally do not optimize. They more often than not have blank meta titles and meta descriptions. If I put titles and descriptions on these pages, no matter how minor, would it help the site as a whole to rank better? Thanks!

Almost all pages showing under Notices Rel Canonical - why???
Hi, I'm just going through my latest crawl since my new site launch and havce noticed almost all of my websites pages are listed under the notices rel canonical section, Why is this? All pages have the unique pages titles followed by the site name in the title, for example: Product | Site name All pages have unique meta descriptions and content (although we only offer lots of differt varients of the same product). Is this something I should be worried about?

Wordpress when to use posts or pages
Hi Guys, I have a network of EMD sites that currently use a homepage and then we have a blog page which has 5-6 posts on. Is this the best way to do it with sites under 10-20 pages? Or should we create say 3-4 new pages/categories and drop the posts relevant to each page/category in there? Thank you Jon
