      Hi all,

It's a common practice giving the "brand name" or "brand name & primary keyword" as suffix on EVERY page title. Well then it's just we are giving "primary keyword" across all pages and we expect "homepage" to rank better for that "primary keyword". Still Google ranks the pages accordingly? How Google handles it? The default suffix with primary keyword across all pages will be ignored or devalued by Google for ranking certain pages? Or by the ranking of website improves for "primary keyword" just because it has been added to all page titles?

If you search brand name in Google /Bing you will always come on top except where there are too many similar brands so IMO using option 1 wouldn't be a good idea.

First of all it is not necessary to use Brand name at every page title. Please check my response here @ https://moz.com/community/q/is-it-important-to-have-the-brand-name-in-all-page-title

          Hope this helps.

If you still have any query please let us know.

          Thanks

            Hi Alick,

Thanks for the answer. Will there be any negative impact if we use option 1 and option 2 at different pages. Or it's mandatory to follow one pattern across all pages of website?

              Hi,

Option 1 - Brand Name - Primary Keyword | Secondary Keyword

Option 2 - Primary Keyword - Secondary Keyword | Brand Name

Option 2 will have more impact.

"According to Moz's testing and experience, keywords closer to the beginning of your title tag may have more impact on search rankings. In addition, user experience research shows that people may scan as few as the first two words of a headline. This is why we recommend titles where the most unique aspect of the page (e.g. the product name) appears first.

              Thanks

                Hi,

I agree that brand at page titles is for recognition. In-terms of SEO benefits; I would like to know suffix of every page title giving keyword at prefix....or keyword along with brand name at suffix for all pages? Which will have more impact at Google

                  HI Martijn,

Thanks for the response. I agree with what you said. But I would like to know...brand is enough at suffix of every page title giving keyword at prefix....or keyword along with brand name at suffix for all pages? Which will have more impact at Google

                    Hi,

One of the reasons we add the brand name at the end of a title is to allow for users to recognise the brand, whether they are new users and have heard of the brand and thus are more likely to trust it, or returning users who have used our website before and weren't aware that another service was offered, but are more willing to return to a website where they have had a good experience.

It also ensures your brand SEO is as strong as possible, so if someone were to search your brand name they wouldn't be presented with a competitor who happened to mention your website a few times, rather than your website.

                      Hi,

Google is pretty good with figuring out what a certain page can be about. If they don't think the title is relevant to the page that the user can visit it will make it's own title. We see that in a lot of cases. For example: when doing a rebranding it took a while for Google to figure out the new brand name and they were still applying their own suffix with the old brand name to the URL.

                      Martijn.

My website is not configured in AMP pages, but it is mobile-friendly.

                        Hi
My website is not configured in AMP pages, but it is mobile-friendly.
Last month, my website was ranked to 10 positions for this keyword (Magento Development Company).
Sometimes it's showing on 25 positions but not in the top 5 positions. Here is my URL (for analysis):
                        https://www.nevinainfotech.com/magento-development-service/
Would you please explain why my keyword rankings are often not showing in the search listings?
Would you mind letting me know is there anything I need to change?
                        Thank

Using Google to find a discontinued product.

Hi Guys. I mostly use this forum for business questions, but now it's a personal one! I'm trying to find a supplier that might still have discontinued product.  It's the Behritone C5A speaker monitor. All my searches bring up a plethora of pages that appear to sell the product... but they have no stock. (Wouldn't removing these pages make for a better internet?)  No 2nd hand ones on eBay 😞 Do you have any suggestion about how I can get more relevant results... i.e find supplier that might still have stock?  Any tips or trick I may be able to use to help me with this? Many thanks in advance to an awesome community 🙂 Isaac.

Does Google use dateModified or date Published in its SERPs?

I was curious as to the prioritization of dateCreated / datePublished and dateModified in our microdata and how it affects google search results. I have read some entries online that say Google prioritizes dateModified in SERPs, but others that claim they prioritize datePublished or dateCreated. Do you know (or could you point me to some resources) as to whether Google uses dateModified or date Published in its SERPs? Thanks!

Where can I find a breakdown of google search volume by specific industry/vertical? For example, what % of people searching in google are looking for housing? Cars? Restaurants?

I"m looking for specific breakdowns of search volume in google by: #1 Vertical (Shopping/restaurants/Services etc). For example, how many people are searching in google for information pertaining to restaurants per month? Search volume for all of 2012, 2013, 2014? #2 More granular categories within verticals, people searching for: books, apartment rentals, cellphones) Is there a breakdown of google search somewhere online that gives this type of information? Thank you MOZ community, really appreciate it!

Does a KML file have to be indexed by Google?

I'm currently using the Yoast Local SEO plugin for WordPress to generate my KML file which is linked to from the GeoSitemap.  Check it out http://www.holycitycatering.com/sitemap_index.xml. A competitor of mine just told me that this isn't correct and that the link to the KML should be a downloadable file that's indexed in Google.  This is the opposite of what Yoast is saying...  "He's wrong. 🙂  And the KML isn't a file, it's being rendered. You wouldn't want it to be indexed anyway, you just want Google to find the information in there. What is the best way to create a KML?  Should it be indexed?

How do I get the expanded results in a Google search?

I notice for certain site (ex: mint.com) that when I search, the top result has a very detailed view with options to click to different subsections of the site. However for my site, even though we're consistently the top result for our branded terms, the result is still only a single line item. How do I adjust this?

Home page replaced by subpage in google SERP (good or bad)

SInce Panda, We have seen our home page drop from #2 in google.ie serp to page 3 but it  has been replaced in the same position @#2 by our relevent sub page for the keyword that we ranked#2 for. Is this a good or bad thing from and seo point of view and is it better to have deep pages show in serp rather than the homepage of a site and what is the best line of action from here in relation to seo. Is it best to work on subpage or home page for that keyword and should link building for that phrase be directed towards the subpage or the homepage as the subpage is obviously more relevent in googles eyes for the search term. It is clear that all areas of the site should be looked at in relation to link building and deep links etc but now that google is obviously looking at relevancy very closely should all campaigns be sectioned into relevent content managed sections and the site likewise and treated on an individual basis. Any help that you may have would be very welcome. Paul
