XML Sitemap After On Page Changes
-
Hi everyone, could anyone please help me understand what to do next with the xml sitemap after making on page changes?
For example, a website has an already existing xml sitemap and it's submitted to Google search console. We make changes to the website - URL structure, content, added new pages, 301 redirected broken links etc. for optimisation. Is there anything that we should do to change/update their current xml sitemap? Does it automatically update itself? Do we have to resubmit their xml sitemap to search console?
Thanks!

Correct!

Awesome, thanks Martin!

Hey Nikki,
Yes, those are correct.
Cheers, Martin

Hi Martin, thank you for your reply. Just to clarify, if we uploaded the sitemap manually to the website, we'll have to reupload a new one, and then resubmit to GSC.
If our sitemap is generated by a tool, say, in WordPress, then the sitemap gets updated automatically, and we just have to resubmit it to GSC.
Are those correct?

I second Martin, definitely update the XML sitemaps that you have for your site.

Hey Nikki,
It depends how the file was created. If you exported it manually it won't change by itself. Especially, if you changed URL structure, added some redirects and some new pages.
I'd recommend to resubmit new Sitemap.xml to Google Search Console because the new one will probably differ quite a bit.
Hope it helps. Cheers, Martin

Listing all services on one page vs separate pages per service
My company offers several generalized categories with more specific services underneath each category. Currently the way it's structured is if you click "Voice" you get a full description of each voice service we offer. I have a feeling this is shooting us in the foot. Would it be better to have a general overview of the services we offer on the "Voice" page that then links to the specified service? The blurb about the service on the overview page would be unique, not taken from the actual specific service's page.

Home page keyword effecting internal page ranking
Hello, My client has a second keyword for the home page that is competitive. The home page is not being ranked for this keyword. Instead, an internal category page is ranking. This internal category page is more relevant than the home page - it shows the categories for the actual products that this term refers to. But everyone around us in Google's page results has far more backlinks than the internal page, and we're all heavily optimized for this term. My question is, is it safe to pull the second term off of the home page or is this internal page strong because it is somehow being strengthened by the home page optimization?

Main Page title change.
Hi, For some reason every week or two I am changing the title tag of my main page. Each change takes place because I find new version better than the old one. Does this have any impact on my SEO results (I'm keeping the main keywords each time) ? If it has an impact is it positive or negative ? And should I stick to one title and not change it under any circumstances for long periods of time ? Thanks!

Sitemap Help!
Hi Guys, Quick question regarding sitemaps. I am currently working on a huge site that has masses of pages. I am looking to create a site map. How would you guys do this? i have looked at some tools but it say it will only do up to 30,000 pages roughly. It is so large it would be impossible to do this myself....any suggestions? Also, how do i find out how many pages my site actually has indexed and not indexed?? Thank You all Wayne
