Implementing nofollow tag affect ranking
-
if a blog that is performing well on the first page at an average position of 4 for an informative term. The blog contains a lot of outbound links, adding nofollow tag to all of them affect the current ranking? There are few other same cases.
Here is the link - monk.webengage.com
The was a lot of other optimization done on the page but the ranking did not improve at all. Is the issue with my domain authority or is it due to higher backlink to other competitive domains.

Hi webengageseo,
Do you have any results to report from the changes you made? We would love an update!

Hi There,
I see outbound links leaking juice away from the page. There are benefits from outbound linking to a trusted source as Rand explained in the last Whiteboard Friday. You are strengthening the trust of the page by linking to highly regarded and high DA or PA resources. For example to a newspaper article about a subject, a .gov on a patent website, Wiki, or some equally regarded page.
If the outbound link is just to other websites or blog then I would be careful linking to them with a follow link. I certainly wouldn't do it to expect a link back as this kind of reciprocal linking went out with the ark.
If it was my website I would check the outbound page - if it's a trusted source then leave it. If there are a bunch of other links then nofollow them. You will certainly not be penalised by having the nofollow link on your page but the page may well be enhanced by limiting the dofollows to run so so pages.
Regards
Nigel

I think that having outbound links is a key part of an healthy site (unless your accepting a guest post for each post you create). I think there are also some good assets from linking outside of your site:
- you may get links in return as using those outbound links as part of an ego bait campaign
- people you're linking to may want to give visibility to that mention so they may share that article on their social media and other channels they control
- there are some articles about outbound link cogitation which works similarly to internal backlink cogitation but instead of considering inbound links it consider outbound. In other words, sites linking to same sites are somewhat similar
As you can see there are different approaches, but natural outbound links are a natural part of the we, which is the "web" because of its networking system. Cyrus, covered the topic in a previous whiteboard https://moz.com/blog/external-linking-good-for-seo-whiteboard-friday you may get some nice insights from there
There are many things you may do before considering adding the nofollow tag, maybe you can apply other optimizations to improve your rankings. Anyway, if you think there is some good opportunity, you can always test it. Instead of testing the entire site at once why don't you just modify a couple of pages and see if there is a significant ranking change? Data is far superior than any opinion I can give you

Do sites with more pages rank better?
If a site has more pages and also has good internal linking, then logically it would rank better. Is this the case? Should I be building big (but high quality) sites?

Duplicate Title Tags/Meta Tags for Website with Multiple Locations
I currently have an insurance website that has over 40 offices in Ontario. The site also provides online quoting.
On-Page Optimization | | MainstreamMktg
In some of our programming, we have implemented variables in the URLS that will allow the quotes to go to the specific city offices - the issue I am having is that the quote in itself is the same quote form (same title, same meta) because it's technically one page on the website. We did it this way to avoid having to update 40 forms if a field on the form were to change. Is there any way I can relieve my site of this duplicate title tag/meta tag issue? Any insight would be really appreciated - thanks so much!0 -
IMG ALT tags - should they be the same or the product title?
I have about 300 products. Should I make all my IMG ALT tags with my keywords, such as sea glass jewelry, sea glass necklace, sea glass bracelets? Or, should I make them what their title is, some of which do not pertain to the keyword, such as By the Sea. Some of my products do have keywords in them, but not all. I am hesitant on changing all the titles, as almost all URLs are indexed.

Strange ranking occurrences in Google (NL)
Mozzers, I got a question for all of you. Recently (about 3 months ago) I launched a renewed website for a costumer of mine. Since then rankings have been improving and some decreasing a little but overall it went quite allright. _Still, we now have some issues with some new pages and I really don't know what to do any more. _ The Case:
On-Page Optimization | | JarnoNijzing
For starters lets say the company sells vacuum cleaners. We now make pages for specific product ranges e.g. Miele Diamond vacuum cleaners which in turn tells something about this product range and has links to different pages of that series, for instance the Miele Black Diamond Silent Vacuum Cleaner. Why did we do this? We already ranked for specific product pages but also wanted to rank for more general terms and thus product ranges. What happened? We now rank perfectly well for the product pages itself but for some reason the Miele Diamond Vacuum Cleaners page doesn't rank at all or not as it should. Why is this strange? Because we applied the exact same tactic for some other product ranges on the same website and it worked like a charm (part of the reason why we started to do this for all product-ranges). I could really use some help here. If you want I can message you the pagelink in PM but I won't post it here for several reasons. The Vacuum Cleaners in this example or not the real products though but used as an exemplar. I really do hope to hear from you with some advice or request for more information. Regards

Why am I ranking on both Bing and Yahoo and yet the rankings are declining on Google
I'm seeing ranking go up on both Bing and Yahoo and yet they are going down on Google. I did see a bunch of spammy links show up about a month ago but have managed to get all those taken down although did not get any warnings from Google in Webmaster tools about them was more of a preemptive measure. The site in question. http://www.gocitrusnow.com

Does Changing Hosting Provider Affect SEO?
I am having a site with more than 1,500 visits per day and I have suffered from two "blackouts" of one day each with my actual hosting Provider. I would like to change the Hosting Provider, but I am afraid of losing lots of visitors if I do the change. The change will be to a dedicated IP and the location of the IP will be in the same country. Will my site be affected on SEO results as a consecuence of this change? Thanks and regards Maria

I am slowly getting the content added for each page but wanted to see if I could boost rankings in the meantime. http://www.petmedicalcenter.com Example: most of pages under "Services" are blank. Thanks for the help!

When we are adding a product; avail sizes, prices, product description, which folder it is to be shown in etc is added. Pictures are added but there is no functionality for adding alt tag to the pictures. Is there any way i can incorporate the tag into the picture file eg .jpg before its added here or is it impossible is this impossible ? Thanks for all help. Dan
