Regional Sitelinks
-
We are a global brand & have each regional site setup as a sub-domain.
au.mybrand.com
eu.mybrand.com
us.mybrand.comI have noticed for branded searches in Australia the SERP is showing the regional site (au.mybrand.com) as the first listing = great
BUT the sitelinks below are showing for the USA site us.mybrand.com = incorrect
Any ideas how to resolve by marking up the code or in Search Console?

You can geo-target the AU and US subdomain to the respective countries, but you can't target the EU as it isn't a country. HREFLANG can help as well, it depends on the differences in the content. You can do both, but in terms of what you should do:
HREFLANG = regional language changes (US English vs AU English)
Geo-Targeting = content changed to target that specific country (ex. products sold in the US but not AU, or extra regulatory content due to a country's laws OR (and a better example) the content needs to be different because selling your product in AU vs US is different like Christmas cards in each country, one has Christmas in summer and the other in winter).

Does your site have hreflang set up? see: https://moz.com/learn/seo/hreflang-tag
It's a way of defining what pages should be considered in regional search results when other options are available. It can be a bit of an undertaking but worth it if you are operating different pages for different regions.

Despite proper hreflang and lang attribute implementation using xml sitemaps, I'm seeing sitelinks from different countries. Any help please?
When someone searches for our brand in US, instead of only US links, users are served with canadian or iranian sitelinks. Despite we have properly implemented xml sitemaps with hreflangs, even we have implemented lang attribute in the head section of source code for every country. I'd be thankful for any advice.

Geo.placename and geo.region different from physical location
Hello - I am considering adding geotags to landing pages for services offered. The problem I have is that the physical location of the business, registered on Google places, is different from where these services are performed. The company is a lawn care provider that services several small cities and is based out of our residence. I plan on creating landing pages for each of these cities so I am hoping to use these tags to indicate to the world that this location is my desired audience. Example, the business is in a town called New Market, MN population small so that is my location on Google places. 99.9% of the business we do is done in neighboring cities of Northfield, Lakeville and Eagan. Is is it an acceptable practice to put geotags on landing pages for those cities or would this be considered dirty pool? On the eagan-lawn-care page place a geotag for Eagan and a different one on the Lakeville page? Gracias! Derrick

How do I EXPAND my sitelinks?
When I search for my site in Google, I am able to see 4 sitelinks below the main result. The problem is, Google is only showing the hyperlinks. When I search for other companies, it shows the hyperlinks plus some text below each link. How do I add this extra text? The attached image is not of my site but it shows the exact same problem for the top 2 results. Edit: My site is www.consumerbase.com Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. sitelinksmissingtext.png correctsitelinks.png

Various region phone numbers
I have a client who serves multiple regions but does not have physical locations and operates out of only one. Since he does business this way he only has one Google Places listing with the address hidden. However, he has a phone number on it that is localized to one of the regions. Will this hurt him for ranking in the other regions? To clarify - he has a cincinnati phone number but also has indianpolis, columbus, dayton, and others listed as areas served. Would it be best to just get him a 1800 number and put that in there?

Why is google ignoring my sitelinks demotions?
I'm referring to the sitelinks that appear in the SERPs when searching for my brand name. 6 subpages come up- some found in my main navigation, some not. 3 of the 6 sitelinks have been demoted in Webmaster Tools under "Site Configuration > Sitelinks." I realize that they say in their instructions: "Google doesn't guarantee that demoted URLs will never appear as a sitelink, but we do consider a demotion a strong hint that we'll try to honor when generating sitelinks." I am just surprised they would ignore 3 of the demotions and for so long. The pages that are demoted do not have very many internal links pointing to them (unlike other pages of my site that are targeted specifically). Also, the site has tens of thousands of pages to choose from. Why are they ignoring my request? What else can I do to fix this?
