Regional Sitelinks
-
We are a global brand & have each regional site setup as a sub-domain.
au.mybrand.com
eu.mybrand.com
us.mybrand.comI have noticed for branded searches in Australia the SERP is showing the regional site (au.mybrand.com) as the first listing = great
BUT the sitelinks below are showing for the USA site us.mybrand.com = incorrect
Any ideas how to resolve by marking up the code or in Search Console?

You can geo-target the AU and US subdomain to the respective countries, but you can't target the EU as it isn't a country. HREFLANG can help as well, it depends on the differences in the content. You can do both, but in terms of what you should do:
HREFLANG = regional language changes (US English vs AU English)
Geo-Targeting = content changed to target that specific country (ex. products sold in the US but not AU, or extra regulatory content due to a country's laws OR (and a better example) the content needs to be different because selling your product in AU vs US is different like Christmas cards in each country, one has Christmas in summer and the other in winter).

Does your site have hreflang set up? see: https://moz.com/learn/seo/hreflang-tag
It's a way of defining what pages should be considered in regional search results when other options are available. It can be a bit of an undertaking but worth it if you are operating different pages for different regions.

Drop in keyword rankings with a multi-region website
Hi everyone, I know that variations if this question have been asked on this forum and have been answered by Google also. Google's response seems to be clear that "Websites that provide content for different regions and in different languages sometimes create content that is the same or similar but available on different URLs. This is generally not a problem as long as the content is for different users in different countries." This was our approach when launching a new .co.nz website recently to coincide with us opening a new office in Auckland. Our original site is still our .com.au site. We went with a new domain name over a sub directory or sub domain for the reasons in the same Google article. After launching the NZ site in February and steadily growing some rankings, we've noticed in the last week or so a drastic drop in our keyword rankings (and traffic) for no apparent reason. There are no apparent issues in Search Console or with the Moz Site Crawl, so I'm wondering what's going on? I know rankings can fluctuate widely, especially when you're not on page 1 (which we're not) but the sudden and drastic drop did concern me. Currently, our AUS site's content is basically being replicated on the NZ site (e.g. blog posts, about us, company history, etc.). I just wanted to bounce it off you all to see whether you think it could be the "duplicate content" on the NZ site, or could it be something else? I'd really appreciate your input! Cheers, Nathan

Influencing Sitelinks - Achievable with Schema or Solely Automated by Google
I'm looking to influence the sitelinks that appear under my main website. I found a Google article here about how to mark up the sitelinks: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/data-types/sitelinks-searchbox. Then I found another Google article about how the sitelinks are automated: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/47334?hl=en. Which is it? Can I influence the sitelinks or not? And is there a maximum number? I can't find any up to date articles that are accurate, because most still reference the remove sitelinks tool in Google Search Console which is no longer available.

Sitelink demotion
I have applied a sitelink demotion in webmaster tools, though this same sitelink is still appearing under my Google listing. How long does it usually take to take effect? Or is there anything I can do about this? Also, is there a way in which I can select or channel Google to show the sitelinks I want?

Google Sitelinks
Hello, Good afternoon. I am having a site issue with Sitelinks. For some reason when I search Google for the brand I represent "California Olive Ranch" Sitelinks are not being generated. When I search for "Cal Olive Ranch" our site links are being generated. Our domain is Californiaoliveranch.com. Is there a way to tell Google to to change the site links to match our domain and brand name? Is this something that can be done in Google Webmasters? Thank you very much for your help. Adam P

Why is Google showing sitelinks for 1 of our keywords, but not the other which is very similar?
For the term "Corazonas Foods" Google displays the sitelinks in the SERP listing. But for the term "Corazonas" it does not. The second term, Corazonas (our brand name), is not a generic term for anything so why wouldn't Google do the same for both terms?

How does Google Crawl Multi-Regional Sites?
I've been reading up on this on Webmaster Tools but just wanted to see if anyone could explain it a bit better. I have a website which is going live soon which is going to be set up to redirect to a localised URL based on the IP address i.e. NZ IP ranges will go to .co.nz, Aus IP addresses would go to .com.au and then USA or other non-specified IP addresses will go to the .com address. There is a single CMS installation for the website. Does this impact the way in which Google is able to search the site? Will all domains be crawled or just one? Any help would be great - thanks!

Sitelinks
Is there any method by which Google can display Sitelinks ? Is it so that Google shows the pages with the most backlinks for the Sitelinks ? or sitelinks are shown only for the number one listing ?
