Top pages according Link Explorer shows 301 pages and images
-
I was looking at the top pages on my website using Link Explorer, it contains 301 pages and image URLs. Is this expected or I should be doing something to fix it?
URL with second highest PA in site is a page already 301 redirected more than 6 months back. URL with highest PA in my blog is a random image in the blog, rather than any blog posts.
Is this normal?
Thanks

Usually this is accurate but it could involve you taking measures to insulate your SEO authority further. A 301 redirect won't transfer 100% of the link equity from one URL to another. If the pages are highly related and share much of the same content, almost all of the link equity flows through! If the pages contain significantly different content or are not related thematically, as little as 0% of the equity can flow through the 301 redirect (it's not a simple input / output equation)
The SEO authority of a given URL is still partially (maybe mostly) defined by Google's PageRank equation. Whilst 'toolbar' PageRank is dead, 'real' PageRank (which SEOs have never seen) is still an integral ranking factor. Google still (for the most part) considers the web to be an amalgam of interlinked 'pages' (rather than websites, or domains). That's not to say that domain-level checks don't happen, they do. For the most part though, since Google lists individual web-pages in its results (not entire sites launching with a single click) - page level metrics remain extremely important.
If you combine both of these pieces of knowledge, you'll see why Moz's link explorer may state that some of your URLs which now result in 301s, are worth more (or more attention) in terms of your SEO. Other tools like Ahrefs or Majestic will do exactly the same thing, it's not accidental.
The fact is that a page with loads of great backlinks, will usually outperform another URL receiving similar calibur link equity which is then diluted (a little or a lot) through redirects (even including the mighty 301!)
Due to all of this, whilst the 301 redirect is a great measure to translate as much equity to the new URL as possible, it's not 'as good' as having all of those links altered to point to your new resultant page. Link amends usually always out perform 301s if they are managed in their totality, the viability of getting every link switched over though (as the coding for those sites is not under your direct control) is minimal
The suggestion is always to put the 301 layer underneath, but to get as many of your links actually shifted to point to your new address - as possible! Certainly your very best backlinks should be moved over. In this way, even if the new URL is a little different and Google's page comparison algorithm kicks off, you've partially circumvented some of the issue
Due to all these factors, migrations of any kind (even internal ones) often result in slight traffic dips and dents. Although that's true; moving to new architectures which are better, unlocks the long-term 'space' to achieve more than you ever did before. Without growing room, you stagnate (and in the competitive world of internet marketing - that's a big no-no)

HI Aji!
Thanks so much for the great question! Our index does take 301 redirects into account but in order for our tool to recognize and report the redirect has been added, it would need to recrawl that page/link. I'd be happy to look into this more for you.
Would it be possible for you to email the website you're working with and the 2 links you're referring to on over to help@moz.com? That way I can do some digging and make sure I'm providing the most accurate answer I can. Looking forward to hearing from you!

Can Moz Keyword Explorer help target keywords for Google Images results?
I'm wondering if I can use Keyword Explorer (or maybe another tool?) to target keywords for image rankings. I'd like to play around with optimizing images so that they appear in search results and thus provide traffic - but wasn't sure the best way to track that kind of progress. My ultimate goal is to analyze the difficulty of ranking for a certain keyword via Google images. (I do know to optimize alt tag/title tag/place in relevant article etc, but wanted to know if I could research the difficulty). Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

How to increase Page Authority
Hi All, I have had some free time lately and have wanted to try and figure out how Moz calculates page authority and what I can do to increase page authority. For instance, I have a real estate site (As some of you may know already) and of course there are places like Zillow.com who have amazing Domain Authority and even page authority for a certain address. So this is just some random address to where most of the local sites I compete with have a PA of 1. Is there a way to get that PA up? Would it be sharing it on Social Media, or writing a blog post about it (which I of course would not want do do with every listing (hundreds) but was curious how Zillow could have such a high page rank on a property that maybe came up a day or two ago. Examples: zillow: http://goo.gl/99A57C my site: http://goo.gl/K6xmW6 Thanks for any guidance!

Moz crawler only crawls one page?!
Hello there, I'm using Moz for a while and I'm very pleased with the tool and community. But for the first time I encountered a problem. We are trying to run a crawler for a client's website but only one page (only the homepage) was crawled. We tried to do a test on a more detailed level (maybe there is something wrong with the homepage). My campaign test's crawl came back for the Producten folder (level deeper than homepage), and it was also only a 1 page crawl with a 200 status. I did look at the robots.txt file now, and it is very restrictive, but there is nothing that I can clearly see that would explain why the crawl isn't working. Hopefully someone can point us at the right direction. Thanks in advance, Jeremy

On Page Grader Question
Hi there, I have just used the On Page Grader on this page: -removed- and checked the grade for the following keywords together: wedding venues bath The On Page Grader has found 15 instances on the page for this keyword. When i view the page source and ctrl-f and search for ''wedding venues bath'', it only finds 8. Is there an issue with the On Page Grader atm?

Moz ranking report shows massive loss in Bing SERP's. But it is not the case?
My weekly ranking report shows massive loss of SERP's on Bing. For most keywords I was no longer in the top 50 which where first top 5. But when I checked it out for myself, I'm still ranked top 5 for these keywords. I then used the Moz Rank Tracker and there it also says I'm still ranking top 5 for these keywords. What should I believe now?

Open site explorer linking root domains
My company has been trying to increase the number of linking root domains for a specific page on our website using our PR company and press releases that are sent out and linked back to this page. This is working nicely, but the number of linking root domains is still not increasing under the "linking root domains" tab. I am noticing the correct links to this domain under "fresh web mentions" though. I know this tool can take a bit to update, but it has been quite some time and I still only see the one link.
